I'm so glad that someone who was employed by the Public Ivy admits that a college level education has no relation to a person's overall intelligence. I'm sure all of the fans, students and everyone affiliated with Carolina will agree with his sentiments.

my favorite part is when he brags about being paid not to work because he is an awful, awful coach.

I don't know how good of a coach you can be when literally no one in the organization (above or below you) wants you there because they want someone else and they ignore every word you say

Proof of academic shenanigans. Academic affairs won't be fully in control, but will be "fully in control", meaning Roy is running that shit.

I wouldn't mind a job where I was a "special assistant" and got paid $80k+.

On second thought, maybe I don't want that job, who knows what a special assistant has to do...

They'll never find out. All you gotta do is keep changing your job title. Like, uh, from Casino Executive to Food and Beverage Chairman. They take your application, they put it at the bottom of the pile. I know guys been workin' there for years, don't have a license.

I'm guessing this has been posted already, but:

"We want to be 12-0," senior guard Jonathan Cooper told Adam Gold and Joe Ovies Tuesday afternoon on 99.9 The Fan. "We set two goals, and that's to be the Coastal Division champion and the North Carolina state champion. Those are two major motivating factors to us."

I don't have any problem with this quote. But didn't they make fun of TOB for claiming the state championship a few years back after we beat Wake, ECU, and UNC?

absolutely. It was like "Isn't that cute that the wuffies are claiming themselves a non existent champion"

Even Butch said that they were more worried about the "BIG PICTURE" then defeating a few in state teams.

^^^ I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers that. I don't have any problem with that being a goal for any team. Obviously postseason play should be the main goal (they're banned from that lol), but beating your in state rivals is certainly an acceptable goal to have as well.

depending on how they partially redact those numbers, that could give PackPride some more work to do, trying to figure out patterns between partially redacted numbers, lol.

Why is the AD leading this, and not someone in the academic side?

Quote :
"Cunningham expects that irregularities that occurred before 2007 will be the same type as those found in the previous investigation. “But we have implemented changes going forward,” he says."

So did the NCAA investigate and punish the "irregularities" that was found in the previous investigation? With all of their violations, I cant remember.

He's not leading this but he's getting in front of it to save his own ass. I'm sure they know something and so he needs to make sure he's the new guy whos gonna clean it up. That said it really isn't his fault since he just got there.

http://collegesportsbusinessnews.com/issue/august-2012/article/should-the-ncaa-revisit-north-carolina

summary: guy writing this article used unc's stance to defend in a compliance case in the past

Quote :
"When I worked in ICA compliance, I often raised this same defense – albeit in a self-serving way – to mitigate potential sanctions, including in a major infractions case concerning academic fraud to maintain athletic eligibility. In this situation, there were several classes taught by a single professor that had an overwhelming number of athletes, but were open to other students and had non-athletes enrolled. When there was credible information that the professor was providing copies of a test specifically intended for football players enrolled in a specific class, we investigated and corroborated that it did happen and others in the class including non-athletes were able to access the same copy of the test. As an institution, we fired the professor and took other strong corrective actions under the direction of our Provost, including reporting the information to the NCAA and our conference office. We were convinced that this was an internal issue, we had handled it according to institutional policy and our findings were endorsed by the college dean and the Provost. We only reported it to the NCAA and conference office as a courtesy and to demonstrate we had our house in order. How wrong we turned out to be.

Our “open to other students and other students were enrolled” defense fell on deaf ears as the NCAA enforcement staff, with an assist from NCAA membership services, stated clearly that there was a clear “nexus” (connection) between the academic fraud and the direct benefit to the athletes, even though non-athletes potentially received the same benefit. One particular NCAA investigator told me that the fraud would not have happened “but for” the presence of athletes and the perceived benefit to them. In other words, in the eyes of the NCAA (sometimes, I guess) our fraud was done for the benefit of athletes and the others were along for the ride as a layer of protection and convenient excuse. It simply did not matter in the eyes of the NCAA, as they were convinced fraud was intended solely for the athlete’s benefit."

^And I noticed at the bottom the reporter on this story is Tara Lynn, a proud 06 graduate of UNC, who has her interests listed as "cheering on the Tar Heels" and who met her husband the first day of her freshman year at UNC. I'm sure between her and her husbands degree and her love for the Heels, I am quite confident she's asking the tough questions and getting to the bottom of this cesspool.

Yea its not like they have a shitload of Carolina folks over there at WRAL. Out of the top 25 anchors & reporters on the website, only 4 are UNC educated. Cullen Browder, Tara Lynn, Bill Leslie (no duh) and & Dr. Mask (not a big surprise either). But lets just put the most recent Carolina grad on it who has UNC shit plastered all over her biography, her Twitter, etc.

BTW I love they misspelled Business in Jackie Hyland's biography.
