I believe she is talking about Dish, not the Penguin. Dish fucking rocks....everyone talks about Penguin this and penguin that..give me a good Dish meal any day.

The dish trumps the penguin. It's one of my favorite charlotte resturants.

I go every couple of months for the pickle chips and grilled pimento cheese or burger. But, yeah, I feel like complete shit after I eat it.

I was talking about Dish (couldn't remember the name), their fried green tomatoes rock.. and I'm not usually a huge tomato fan, either.

I like the Penguin but it's been ages since I've been there, half a year or more?

Looking fwd to more Thomas St. when the weather is nice, LOVE the large deck there.

any of you ever been to the Brick & Barrel? Got dragged into that spot Saturday night for an hour or so. Honestly, as much as I frequent that stretch of uptown (Phils, Attic, Ri-Ra) I had never even seen it. Was nothing special.

I need to get out and frequent some more spots on the other ends of town. Any of you ever been to the Thirsty Beaver?

I've been to Brick & Barrel a few times. It's alright on the main floor, depending on what time you go. Seems like the kind of place people "start out" but have left by 11pm.

What's everyone doing for St. Patty's day?

There's the parade and festival downtown, the pub crawl, Dixie's party and the first annual (I think) Buckheads street party.

^^ there was a wings rating poll in one of the papers the other (like creative loafing orone of those). I havent tried any of the places here uptown yet but plan to do so. Now that the rain has cleared up, i might walk to one of the places on the list this week and see if there any good wings uptown.

i remember seeing it on charlotte.com...it was like a bracket...i think Moosehead might've won the "non traditional" category, ie honey teriyaki, blackened, whatever (not "buffalo hot")...they have really good wings but they're not downtown

try searching charlotte.com for 'wings'

this isnt it but its the first thing i found

I've yet to be impressed by any of the wing places in Charlotte... I'd also be down for that list, plus a taste-test at the top selections, of course!

i've had some of the better wings at 'random' bars (that dont specialize in wings)

there used to be a Wing Stop near my place and they were pretty good and had probably 20+ different flavors but they closed down

when i lived in raleigh i was a fiend for getting some Wing Zone delivered since they were open til 1am

re: Chantilly

depends...if its near downtown its not that bad...if its closer to eastway you might want to get a gun and some extra locks on your doors

^yeah they had some good stuff...they had some kind of wings that had sesame seeds on them, they were pretty good...then it became some place, what was the name of it? now its Ed's...Wing Ranch used to be on Kings Drive before that though where either the Dunkin Donuts or battery store or something is now...kind of across from the old McDonalds where they've leveled that whole block now

I haven't had too many great experiences with wings in this town either.

we go to the Hickory Tavern for lunch about every other week and they have an all you can eat wing bar. But the thing with wingbars is the wings dry out so the quality can be hit or miss. But they are decent sized.

Saucer has good wings but that is a pretty common place, I guess you were looking for something a little "off the radar".

I'm a buffalo hot guy only, but i would definitely be down for this list and trying out some new wing spots.

I mean my favorites are still Quakersteak's Cajun ones when they're damn near loaded with blackening seasoning ... (sometimes they come almost as butter/garlic wings) but i don't wanna drive to concord for wings.... i guess there is one off par rd. too though now that i think of it.

Spring and early summer are the best times of the year to go to Alive After 5. I remember it getting almost too hot to be enjoyable several nights last summer.
