no shit
i'm saying that maybe they did brainwash jack and that they (the writers) were alluding to the fact that jack won't remember kate and the rest of them when they get there.

Just got around to watching the episode.
Pretty crazy that Jack and Claire are half siblings. It'll be cool when they realize that. It'd be cool if they have come in contact before but hadn't noticed/realized it. I wonder if Claire will see a "mirage" of her mother the way Jack saw their father. Was pretty disappointed that Sayid and Kate didn't find out about Locke being a para...hey! Perhaps that will surface in the next episode.
This week's was much better than that "Roll a fucking bus down a hill just so I can drive in circles bullshit" episode. Next week should be golden~! 3/15/2007 12:29:00 PM |

sawyer got real drunk with him in some bar in one episode, and anna lucia was his driver for awhile.

I doubt they ever will. Jack and Ana Lucia never figured their connection out.
I saw 2 possibilities for the Jack situation: 1. Brainwashing (already discussed)
2. The truth. The others told Jack what is really going on with the island, so now he knows that they really aren't that bad after all.3/15/2007 1:36:23 PM |

I want to go back and watch this episode because I always wondered who's house it was he had Anna Lucia drop him off at. Apparently it was either Claire or her Aunt but was he there to convince them to finally pull the plug?3/15/2007 5:02:20 PM |

I'm starting to buy into the hypnotized theory. Thats what they were trying to do to "Karl" after he tried to run off. All the survivors who were "taken" seem to be in an almost medicated, hypnotized daze and are complacent with what the Others ask of them. Now that Jack's services are not needed, he may very well have been put in the hyno-chamber as well.
Mikhail said that they were not "chosen" because they were not on the list. They were not on the list because they were "flawed", "weak", and "angry". I think that this means they had psych profiles on them already that showed they would not respond to the hypno-chamber as the children or some of the more gullible/simpliemided survirvors would. They were not chosen because they could not be trusted to be complacent after hypnosis.
makes sense, eh?3/16/2007 12:33:06 PM |

The reveal that Locke somehow knew there was C4 and that he had taken some with him. Was there any up above? Did he ever go down below? I'm willing to chalk this up to my own misremembering, but I don't recall him going downstairs at all. Even if he did, though, why would he knowingly blow up the station? I think it's totally out of character for him, even taking into account things he did in season one to keep them on the island.
The fact that Patchy McGee was killed off because, it felt like, he was too complicated to further deal with. LOLZ THIS GUY CAN TELL US EVERYTHING, BETTER KILL HIM OFF. I don't in any way think that he should be used as a mouth for exposition, but the interaction between a captive Other and the survivors would be interesting to see again, and give him plenty of opportunities to fuck with the survivors. I'm thinking of Battlestar Galactica when the captive cylon told the president that Adama was a cylon.
The fact that the Others' impenetrable barrier can be defeated by sticks. I mean, come on. Sticks.
I loved the reveal of Jack playing football. Except it's been, what...two days? Three? How long has it been? That exact scene would have been amazing two or three weeks later with no sign of Jack in the meantime. I'm not saying they won't have a good explanation (btw, LOLZ UR BRAINWASHED is not a good explanation, and I don't think that's the case at all), but I'm saying two-three days after he's afraid they're going to do him in, it doesn't seem like he'd really be up for playing some touch football.
Jack's dad is Claire's dad! This was pretty much revealed last season (I guess it was last season...whenever). If there's a point to the interconnectedness, that's great. If there isn't, it's just masturbation.
Oh, and Claire's brilliant plan to escape, by writing a note (pointlessly long and emotional, lacking seemingly important information required to locate them, but whatever) on a piece of paper and tying it to a sea gull, seems to have only one flaw: it requires the sea gull never gets wet. I mean, put that shit in a zip lock or something. Fuck.
Anyways, that's for starters. I want to like this show so badly. I liked the first segment of season 3 a lot more than most people did. And this episode certainly wasn't as bad as the magic tattoo ep, which was absolutely the worst moment of the entire series. But, come on, I don't even feel like the show's creators know where they're going anymore.3/17/2007 10:03:23 PM |
BDubLS1 All American 10406 Posts user info edit post |
there was a tube/capsule on the seagull's leg. they rolled the note up into a tight scroll and inserted it into a tube...that's what keeps it from getting wet... 3/17/2007 10:25:52 PM |

For all you people who just post on here about how bad the show is, think about this: you are spending at least 2 hours a week (watching show and posting on a board) about the show. That is exactly what the writers want you to do: watch the show and talk about it to generate more interest. Even bad publicity is publicity.
LOST wins.
and I don't think this show is GREAT by any means, but I like it because it isn't your traditional show that has a beginning, middle and end with answers to every problem. It keeps you guessing and thinking about things. If they came out and gave you answers to all the questions, why would we watch? 3/19/2007 5:21:01 PM |

Did anyone else think that maybe when Jack's dad was talking to Claire about "other alternatives" to pulling the plug on her mom that he was talking about doing some private experiments/treatment to her?? (as in on the island)
I'm not a big Lost analyst but I thought that line could have given it away that he is "Jacob" and in charge of the experiments and what not on the island3/19/2007 10:41:03 PM |

^^^ That's easy to do in your first season... everything is new, so everything is an answer. The first Locke flashback we found out he was in a wheelchair, and it was a pretty surprising moment, but that was because we knew nothing about his character. Heroes gives a bunch of answers every episode, they will have to scramble to come up with a bunch of new questions for season 2. 3/20/2007 8:41:43 AM |

It is largely assumed that "Jacob" is the leader of the others who we have not been able to see yet. The name was hinted at by the guy who wanted to kill Sawyer (name?) when he said : "We can kill him, he's not on Jacobs list". We now know that this "list" is a pretty important part of the others plans and whoever made this list, must be their leader.....
I doubt we will find out the answers to these questions until the end of the season.... 3/20/2007 1:36:53 PM |

the list contains names of people who are worthy to be assimilated into the "other's" program...
remember when jack was in the cage and people came by and looked at him and stuff. they were abducted into the "other's" program and probably brainwashed to assimilate. 3/20/2007 2:28:09 PM |
