I worked out for a couple months in the winter/spring, built muscle, lost some fat around every part of my body EXCEPT my belly. I think its just a guy thing. It's really tough to get rid of the belly fat.

I'm doing much better on my diet. The weekend will be tough but I'm ready to say no, and I told my bad influence that she's not allowed to pressure me anymore.

Damnit I was looking through a friend's gallery who hasn't updated his pics since 2004...

And I found one of me in 2002.

This is some motivation...

I wanna get down to that size again.

I think I'm actually hating on myself in that pic. lol

Still fluctuating the weight.

I dont know what's going on. I'm doing well with the diet and exercising the same. My exercise is intense. My diet has been the same since the beginning. What gives?

Worry less about weight

Worry more about how you look and feel.

It just clicked. when I go to the gym i'm less inclined to eat poorly. Sometimes I let my friend convince me to go out with her instead, this weekend I was so physically exhausted that I didn't go. when I first started I didn't let anything get in the way, not even exhaustion.

I will start going to the gym everyday until I lose another 10 or 15 pounds, which could take only weeks. Bring it on bitches.

What would make for a great smaller dinner? Right now I do the sandwich for lunch then have chicken/tuna/egg for dinner. Lots of protein but at the end of the day causing me to over eat sometimes. I get hungriest in the evening which means I'm not getting enough protein/fiber throughout the day. What are some good sources of fiber?

I don't feel like I'm dying during cardio but I make sure I get close. Intervals of fast paced and slow down to catch my breath.

You know what I absolutely hate and can never do??? We're only jsut now at ten pounds... SHOULDER PRESSES. I fucking hate those bitches and have a hard time completing a set. Gah damn.

Kiwi, did you think you'd realistically be as close to your goal when you made this thread as you are now?

I had no idea this would become what it has. I figured it was just another attempt but a few weeks after making the thread and stepping on that scale something snapped.

This thread has delivered great amounts of fantastic information and has been a source of motivation, hopefully not just for me.

When the thread began I didn't have a clue what I was doing, now I feel older and wiser. Will I hit 50lbs. by july? Probably not, but now I have the weaponry to continue weight loss and a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life.

I didn't mean to go off on a tangent but I've read the beginning of this thread a few times and cotinuously bump it when I need something, I was jsut thinking about how much this thread has grown, it's turned into something I never thought possible and i'm pretty proud of it.

Thanks for all your advice!!

most people can lose weight if they limit their daily caloric intake to 10* their body weight. since you've been dieting for a while though and probably have a reduced thyroid output, that might be a good assumption for maintenance needs.

[Edited on May 31, 2007 at 9:40 PM. Reason : there are online calculators you can use.]

So does it need to be lower or higher now?

I found this one....
Quote :
"Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )
Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) - ( 6.8 x age in year )"

Doesn't say where they get those numbers from though.

Am I overthinking? I'm afraid that if I eat too little calories, by like 300 or so, my metabolism will slow even if i ate breakfast and worked out. Same with if I eat too much.

Haven't weighed myself in a week but dammit if I haven't lost i'm gonna kill!!

[Edited on May 31, 2007 at 9:50 PM. Reason : stupid numbers, pants are getting loose however]

your metabolism can't slow down past a certain point. it takes a set amount of calories just to make the brain operate and keep your body operating near 98.6ºF. your brain can get sluggish and your body can operate at a slightly lower temperature when you have been on reduced calories for a long period of time, but it can't reduce away to nothing by you not taking in enough calories.

Don't overthink dieting too much. If you're worried about dropping your thyroid output too low from dieting, then put more emphasis on doing cardio to burn calories and lighten up on cutting calories for a few days.

[Edited on May 31, 2007 at 9:53 PM. Reason : I'm around 13% body fat right now and getting ready to start a 2-month diet.]

Kiwi: Don't fret so much over Calories. Eat sensible. You should have a good idea of portion/serving size and a general idea of Caloric density. It's not healthy to go nuts over exact numbers of Calories. There are better things to fret over.

baonest: I hover around 4-5%

I am fretting, this plateau or whatever it is is knocking my off kilter. I'm going to the gym more and for longer now so that will help, and I am eating well and such.

I just want to know why the weight loss stopped and am trying to prevent myself from going off kilter completely. It's probably causing me to overthink and such.

You're doing good Kiwi. You've probably started to put on a little muscle and that may be a reason for your plateau. Just be consistent. It's not going to happen overnight. You've come so far.
