Why must the Navy make everything as complicated as possible?

the long wait is over.

since august, it's been inspection preps, inspections, certs, etc. inport day was 0600 to 1900/2000. finally back from deployment cert exercise. check out on the last day of pre-deployment leave.

then it's West Coast Navy for this sailor!

^^the insane ones tend to be the local girls who sink their claws into a serviceman (at least that's the impression I've gotten from my observations)

My Sailor left Norfolk on his days off for just that reason. He said the Naviho's and local girls were skanky!

He's always said you knew when squadrons got depoloyed, because all the bars filled up with women, all with tan lines on their ring fingers.

^^Yea, I hear Pensecola, FL and Jacksonville, NC are the worst for local girls. Mayport, FL was worse when the carriers where stationed there, I've heard.

^That first tour was rough, man. But I'm glad I've got it behind me. Learned a lot, made some mistakes, saw leadership good and bad. I'm going from one of the oldest ships in the Navy to the newest. In school right now for my next tour.

That's funny as hell cause my teacher friend thinks she's seriously hot shit because she meets all these dudes in Jacksonville that want to date her. She even went as far as to tell some guy off at the bar for playing with his phone all night instead of talking to her. I think she's average looking at best.

whats a poopdeck?

On sailing ships, the poop deck was the deck over the stern deckhouse (where the captain's cabin was). Usually where the helm (and thus the officer of the deck) were stationed. As being on top of a superstructure, it gave a height advantage over the rest of the main deck. As it was the officer of the deck's watchstation, it would need to look good all the time (swab the poop deck...)

Poop deck comes from the Latin word for it, puppis.

So, are sailors allowed to post things like "XX days left of this deployment"? It seems rather...awkward to be so explicit with times for ship movement.

Why do CA bases require smog testing for vehicles to be registered on base when they are not registered in CA? Also, if they are going to require this, why don't they list it on the website/signs at pass and decal!?!?

I was told that GN's get the port hitting of fast attacks but the rotation schedule of BN's.

i'd probably end up on an 88, so is there anything not to like about them?

Besides the fact that many of them are approaching 25+ years of service (and all the problems therein), no, if it's what you want.

After ECU put a hurt on NAVY it got me worried, but ARMY isn't doing so hot either.

It should be a fun game to watch just for the tradition if nothing else

That's true, but because the GNs are forward deployed you are overseas for both refit periods in addition to the patrol. So if you've got a family, you're away from them alot more. The BN experience from a wife's point of view wasn't terrible. Having a specific schedule was really nice - my friends with husbands on SSNs had to deal with the 6+ month deployments and then month-long trips randomly during the times they were scheduled to be in port.

If you are a single guy, the SSNs have a much better port selection and more opportunity to (somewhat) see the world.

Also, it ain't queer at the pier. Just so you have all of your shipboard time covered.

I never heard one for shore duty, so I think you are still gay if something happens when you're doing that.

Would you believe I got pink eye two days before surgery and the Doc said he won't do it with any infection?

FML

They gave me a week to get it cleared up. It's now the 8th.
