It's amusing to see the Obama campaign say that McCain's inability to send e-mail would affect his ability to be commander-in-chief when Obama has never even fired a gun or done anything military related in his life.

I don't have a party. But your point still stands. I have my money in a saving account currently. I plan to put it in something with a better rate of return eventually, depending on whether I get funding for grad school. (I don't want to tie it up now because I might need it soon.)

That's not what you posted. Capital gains definitely does not raise taxes on any income.

no, you tell me what age appropriate is? Thats the fucking point. Who determines that

The fact that you think its ok to teach any of this shit to kindergardeners is fucking telling. You all will defend this idiot at all costs.

Yes, kids need to be made aware of strangers.. .but they dont need to be taught about sex in order to do it.

There's no telling whether $2500 will actually cover the amount of money it actually takes to pay for private healthcare. People who are paying $12 a month on top of their company-based healthcare could have to pay $450+ without it. That's if they even get accepted of course.

I can't see deregulation of healthcare having better effects than deregulation of the banking system and that's going pretty well

you have to pay taxes on the interest your money gets in savings golden.

And yes, that is my point. That to say you wont raise taxes on anyone under THIS income is very misleading. Infact, raising the capital gains tax can affect any income level.

Bullshit and bullshit. You just dismissed the work I did to compile an answer to your question in a simple swoop of the hand giving it no credence whatsoever. Funny you single out NYT and TPM. Did you even look carefully?

- NYT endorsed McCain for fuck's sake.
- TPM is simply a reference to Karl Rove of all places, not an article.
- You didn't mention anything about Washington Post, CBS, LA Times, St. Pete Times, and Associated Press. I guess they all have it out for McCain right?

And yes, McCain did smear and lie in that ad. Watch the damn thing. The ad is supposed to scare viewers by conjuring up images of sexually explicit material being presented to five year olds — nothing could be further from the truth.

Sex education in the early primary years includes lessons on taking good care of your body, family roles, treating people with respect, the names of body parts, and sex abuse prevention. It helps children feel good about their bodies, their gender, their families, and gives them age appropriate information. It teaches them “no, go, tell” about sexual abuse — say no, get away, and tell an adult you trust what happened. It supports parent/child communication about these issues. It DOES NOT include discussions of sexual behaviors or contraceptive methods or other information that would not be age appropriate for five or six year olds.

You can spin it all you want but it's as plainly disingenuous and laughable to anyone with a brain regardless of party.

I can tell how thoroughly ignorant you are when it comes to legislation. The way legislation works, the legislators legalize something, it is then up to the administration to implement that legislation. In this case, the Department of Education would get experts in the field to determine what is and what isn't age appropriate material to teach the children. Under this law, kindergartners are not being taught what sex is. they are being taught about stranger-danger and how to avoide diseases like HIV, which is transmitted through sex, but also through contact with bodily fluids such as blood.

Not one bit of that legislation opens up children that young to be taught what is and what isn't procreation or how to use a condom.

Well, then I guess the government screwed me out of a few bucks.

Note that I'm not claiming you have to pay capital gains tax on interest from a saving account. I believe it's taxed at the normal income rate.

Savings Accounts are tax Free the 1099-INT covers items such as dividend payments, which if you do your investments correctly will not be taxed anyway.

Your ordinary person will not get to the point of having over $100 in interest from a savings account anyway. the highest rate you will see right now is a 4% and that is increasingly rare.

I looked into it, the first $100 is tax free. Only interest past $100 is taxed. Therefore the likelihood of paying tax on your interest is nil.

Kainen,

That ad says nothing that is untrue. It simply repeats the text of the bill--"comprehensive sex education". And as eyedr has pointed out, that actually does include discussions of sexually transmitted diseases.

Quote :
"Each class or course in comprehensive sex education in any of grades K through 12 shall include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread of HIV."

Now, maybe Barry had other ideas when he actually voted for it. I seriously doubt he or anyone wanted to show 6 year olds how to use condoms. And of course parents have the right to opt out if they want.

But that's kinda beside the point. The question is whether McCain lied about the bill. The truth is he did not. At best, you can say he left a false impression on the viewer, but that is nothing worse than what Barry has done to McCain in the past.

Kainen,

As is your assertion that McCain's misdeeds are somehow worse than Obama's own lies.

Now, if the best you can do is call me brainless and tell me that people in the media also dislike McCain (shock!), I don't think we have much more to discuss on the issue. It's clear that Barry gets one set of rules and McCain gets another. It must be nice being a celebrity.

The amount of money necessary to get those kinds of returns is quite high for a savings account. It's not my fault y'all are investing better.

Likewise, your complaint on income tax being taken from interest earned has nothing to do with capital gains taxes. The capital gains rate is much lower than the income rate.

Quote :
"cant recall the percentage, but it was obviously charged at the income tax rate, since its income"

I would suggest you find yourself a tax-free savings account or at least one that invests your interest, that way you do not have to pay taxes on it. I currently do that myself. Then again, I don't have the largest savings account since I'd rather have it in a higher earning account such as a money market. Better returns and just as easy access, oh and the tax rate I pay is much lower.

What does e-mail have to do with being commander-in-chief? You'd have to think actual military experience would be more relevant to being in charge of the military than how many e-mails you send.

not at all, since the commander-in-chief doesn't actually wage the war. He just tells the military where to go. It is the military officers who determine the battlefield tactics.

In 2006, the first $3,300 from dividends were tax exempt, after that it is 15%

http://www.taxfoundation.org/taxdata/show/2090.html

I am still getting the information on the first $100

^ and obviously being in battle has nothing to do with actually understanding how battles or wars should be raged.

Unlike e-mail however. Since McCain is physically incapable of using a computer for long periods of time due to his war injuries, he simply cannot understand how the internet works. Despite the fact that only 2 elections ago, commentators were saying he was the most tech savvy candidate in the race.

Man, I love bullshit partisan politics.

His whole campaign is propped up with this BS propaganda. Now you in some quick gesture are flexing the assertion that they are equivalent without a single shred of reasoning. Just to shoo me off.

You again are just dismissing the argument I'm building pretending like it doesn't exist. Yes, that is brainless. It's all reflexes because you don't like having to look at your STRAIGHT TALKIN' (lol) buddy in a negative light.
