Got this hat at the baby shower. It doesn't fit now that it is getting cool enough to use it. He is 6 mo next week.


Tried carrots as his first 'solid' food. He's not a huge fan. Loves the sweet potato though.

^^ I'm a father of twins. Read the What to Expect First Year books. Read whatever your wife is reading so you'll be on the same page. I find a lot of the parenting literature directed towards males to be insulting. If you have questions or concerns or want to vent, feel free to reach out to me.

I'm sorry about all the sleep you're going to miss. Your experience the first few months is going to heavily depend on how your wife delivers and at what week.

Yeah both of my boys have gone through it once or twice. Luckily they have had fairly mild cases and it didn't seem to bother them too bad.

Our boys actually arrived on 4/19, much to my wife's relief. The first 3 months were absolutely crazy. But thanks to the recommended books in this thread, we were able to create a schedule early on, which kept us sane through the worst of it. The old saying is definitely true "days are long, but the months are short". I can't believe they are already nine months, although it feels like an eternity. Everyday is a great adventure. And each new day is better than the last.

^^^ She definitely understands to some extent. She's asked me out of nowhere before "Dad, are you smarter than my mom?" She has made remarks many times about her mom yelling all the time and overreacting, etc. I don't think she really has any grasp of the extent of how wacky her mom is, though...and she definitely doesn't know all the details about the hell I dealt with for the first few years of her life in terms of being denied contact with her, the crazy shit her mom pulled in court, etc. She has no concept that I've probably spent $30,000 on legal expenses so far.

but yeah, things are better in that she has lived with me half the time for the last 5 years or so, and her mom is not a dominant influence on her anymore, and after I busted her for lying under oath at her own contempt hearing a while back, her mom has still been a pain in the ass, but more just in terms of being difficult to deal with and sometimes uncooperative with swapping days, etc. For the last couple of years, it has been a game of her trying to shake me down for money. She has gotten a few thousand extra (beyond the $825/month she normally gets), but I made sure she spent it all on lawyers in order to get it.

Today is Andrew's 2nd birthday. Hoping to be done with diapers by this summer. He is talking more and more everyday. I still can't wait until we can have real conversations instead of just trying to figure out why he is screaming at us.
