i think mexico takes it tomorrow, 2-1 or 3-1, but I really hope I'm wrong. South Africa has an ok team, but I don't know who will score for them.

I think uruguay vs france will be a good game, i'll go with uruguay surprising the french,3-2. domenech is such a horrible coach.

I would normally pick Mexico in this game and although I still think they win. The host countries always find a way to win their opening game. That stadium is going to be nuts, would not be shocked if SA beats them.

my gut has England winning this game 2-1 but I still can't help but think back to the 2002 world cup as an example of never knowing what to expect at this stage. Coming in to the game with Portugal riding very high expectations for the tournament (probably on par with England's this year) and we score 4 minutes in and were up 3-0 36 minutes in. Was pretty surreal at the time. My dad and I were upstairs watching the game (I forget what time it was, but it was early) and we woke my mom up downstairs cheering/yelling when we scored the first goal

PS Jeff Agoos might still be my least favorite guy on a US WC roster ever.

and they underperform every time.

they have a strong team, but every time they play a team with strong midfield play, they get bounced, and i don't see that changing this year. i actually think the US can get a point from this game, and i've generally come to expect the US to get up for big games.
