^ i do to. except i have a problem with corruption on all levels. not just corporations.
the federal government is corrupt in it's position to take capital gains, and capital losses and socialize the losses into bailouts that YOU qntmfred and I pay taxes on every single day.
the banks should have failed. but the corrupt govt took control and didn't let them fail. they were FDIC insured and every single person at those failed banks would get guaranteed 250k.
if you get rid of the corruption in the federal govt you are at step 1 to be able to move to step 2 which is to control and rid the corporations of corruption.

^^^ Exactly. They're playing pin the tail on the donkey
or pin the donkey on the country
or something
but if you don't even know what the fucking problem is, let alone have any ideas of how you'd like to fix it, you pretty much need to go home and shut the fuck up.
There are a couple of HUGE problems, but the occupy protesters are a total disaster. They mostly don't understand the issues, and in the cases of those who do, are diluting their message with overwhelming amounts of leftist bullshittery.
Also, you can say that they aren't anti-capitalist, and aren't engaging in class warfare, and whatever else, but that's a fucking copout. They have extremely strong and even overt and explicitely stated trends toward those things. 10/31/2011 4:49:09 PM |

^If they were a "total disaster," I don't think the protests would have as much momentum as they currently have. They must be doing or saying something that is resonating with a lot of people in the country. And as Cornel West and others have pointed out, their complaints may sound too general or vague to some, but that's only because the issue they're dealing with is much too large to whittle down into a few tidy demands.

Look, Americans, by and large, have two options when they vote for President. They can either vote for a Republican, or they can vote for a Republican who hates abortions. That's it, those are your only two options.

The class warfare argument is as equally lazy of an opinion. Corporate interests have been pilfering the American middle class for 30 years, but somehow nobody ever accuses them of class warfare. Just look at who has been picking up the tab and who's benefiting from US domestic and foreign policy, and tell me with a straight face that these "liberal wackos" are engaging in class warfare.

If you pay $1500 for a pair of jeans that only cost $20 to make, you fuckin' overpaid for those jeans.
although, perhaps getting rich people to overpay for shitty clothes would make a good business plan.

Brian Moynihan needs a better public relations manager.
Is Bank of America getting bullied by critics?
At a global town hall meeting last week the Bank of America CEO expressed his frustration about all the criticism his bank has been getting lately. Moynihan says all the bad mouthing leaves him feeling “incensed”, according to a report from Bloomberg News.
Talking to employees in North Carolina last week Moynihan said, “I, like you, get a little incensed when you think about how much good all of you do, whether it’s volunteer hours, charitable giving we do, serving clients and customers well.” His reaction to critics: “You ought to think a little about that before you start yelling at us.”" |

Yeah...That's exactly how it works. They're not paying multiple marketing managers six figure salaries or giving a cut to the designer himself. They're not dropping massive amounts of money into television and print advertisements where they have to compete for space with much larger and more established companies such as the auto manufacturers, industrial companies, watch/jewelry makers, and much larger clothing companies than their own. They're not paying reasonable wages to the people who manufacture their goods while trying to compete with companies that don't live by the same code of ethics. They're not dealing with supply chains or manufacturers who make promises and then fail to deliver a product that is on time or up to par.
They just pay $20 for a pair of jeans to be made and then they get $1480 profit. That's exactly how it works.11/1/2011 1:13:02 AM |

I've never seen an ad for $1500 jeans on TV.
Most likely if you buy $1500 jeans, a very small amount of people get paid that money compared to other products.

The point is they use that "profit" for 100 other things, which cycles money back into the economy. (and pays people) However yes... eventually that dollar gets to a foreign market where labor is cheaper (ethical argument as you please) and OUT of the US economy. But that logic doesn't just apply to the 1%. It applies to all of us... so the idea that the Government creates jobs any better than the private sector [at least using the "this is what they spend money on" argument] isn't a very accurate assessment.11/1/2011 8:58:37 PM |
