key words being "can be" ... pneumonia can be a number of things and unless you are her doctor you can't know whether what she has is contagious or not. In a case like this a normal person would generally assume that someone would only go out and hug strangers if they know they aren't contagious, but feel free to make your own conjectures 9/12/2016 10:50:43 AM |

I didn't think pneumonia was contagious. I always thought pneumonia was a secondary infection brought on by things like severe colds, bronchitis, etc. 9/12/2016 12:03:30 PM |

My mom was diagnosed with pneumonia recently and if my memory of the situation is correct it's a pretty nebulous terms that more or less means there's a spot on the lung due to any number of reasons (doing more research this "spot" is the xray...there's fluid in the lungs and pus and shit causing it to look like that on xray). They put her on some general antibiotics but couldn't treat anything specific until they got more test results back on what the actual problem was.
Again, I'm not a doctor, and this could all be wrong, but it's what I remember

Maybe if it were being discussed in a reasonable way, and at a level proportionate to its importance. But we're not choosing the chief of a hunter-gatherer tribe here. Strength and vitality are not really critical factors.
JFK largely hid his own crippling health problems, and while I think he's a largely overrated President, nobody can reasonably attribute his shortcomings to his health.
FDR tried to keep people from noticing that he couldn't fucking walk. Regardless of what you think of his policies, though, nobody would call him a weak or ineffective president.
Abraham Lincoln was a veritable shit salad of health issues, starting with a 24 hour coma induced by a horse kick to the head, carrying through a couple of bouts of malaria, smallpox, and clinical depression. That's just the stuff we're pretty sure of. There are also possibilities of mercury poisoning, syphilis, and multiple endocrine neoplasia (tumors on various glands).
And a lot of people were hemming and hawing about John McCain's age back in 2008, and (as I predicted) he's still alive and kicking.
So you can talk about health and age, but these have got to pale in comparison to conversations about judgment and competence. But that's not a thing that's often allowed to happen by the side doing the talking. Clinton's health has now dominated news cycles, which I don't think is reasonable. And it's all the less so given that the alternative is even older and male. It's not like we're being faced with the 2008 choice of young, energetic Obama and old, curmudgeonly McCain. We've got two aged, flabby gas-bags. Arguing about which one is healthier is almost farcical.

"Pneuomia" is not contagious because it isn't a disease. It's a condition caused by diseases which may or may not be contagious.

The criticism of Yellen is justified, IMO. The lack of action by the fed at this point in rates is only to prop up the markets. When Jamie Dimon is calling for rates to be raised you know it's time.

Really? The bitch is fucking sick with pneumonia and she's in a tight race with Donald Trump. Donald fucking Trump. Literally anything she says/does at this point is the basis of a crazy conspiracy theory that people are willing to accept without proof. If it were a normal campaign, this would likely be a non-issue, but because it isn't, every single thing she does has to be either controlled or spun.9/13/2016 11:29:06 AM |

Yep the fact people have been saying she is dying and has Parkinsons for weeks if not months now makes the decision understandable. That dehydration thing is weird. I read an article from Politico about her staff talking about he she almost refuses to drink water. Just water. She'll drink Gatorade and other stuff.
Quote : | "Clinton’s pneumonia isn’t severe, according to two people with direct knowledge of the candidate’s condition, and she is expected to return to the campaign trail as early as this week. The real issue is chronic dehydration, exacerbated by her lung problem and Clinton’s reluctance to drink water, which has become a source of tension with her staff.
“She won’t drink water, and you try telling Hillary Clinton she has to drink water,” said a person in her orbit – who described a frenzied rehydration mission that included multiple bottles of water and Gatorade.

But about passing out and not remembering. I've almost passed out once in my life, about 5 years ago, because back pain I could not assuage.
I remember it vividly.
Have any of you passed out in your life (non-drunk related)?
Have any of you passed out so much in your life you can't recall some of them?
In any event. She's still at home resting, and some in the media (Cokie Roberts on NPR, former DNC Chair, etc.) are bringing up the possibility of replacing her.
How did they get away with that? How could her campaign not destroy them for talking about it?!9/13/2016 9:46:20 PM |

The one thing that the conspiracy theorists are talking about that does seem to make some sense is why she wasn't taken to the hospital. Clearly Hillary wants to do everything to keep things private but that was a little surprising 9/14/2016 12:11:17 AM |

There was a couple of years in my late 20s where I would have 2-3 day periods where I would feel very near fainting once or twice a day. I think it was related to dehydration and coffee intake. I got that sorted and it hasn't been an issue since (it wasn't much of an issue then, to be honest).
^because it really isn't a big deal. If she had been at home, all she'd probably do would be just to relax. It just so happened that to get somewhere cool and relaxing, she had to walk. She probably didn't know she was close to fainting when she stood up. If it were me and I stood up like that and felt faint (it has happened to me numerous times) I would just sit back down for 5 minutes. She probably thought that would look suspicious and probably figured the feeling would just go away.

The issue isnt that Clinton fainted, it's that we only know about it because a non journalist caught it with his phone. The mainstream media wouldn't dare cover her fainting. As we've seen with HuffPo journalists and Dr. Phil, you get fired for even questioning her health.
It's not a conspiracy theory that the media is biased AF, that Clinton is dishonest AF. That's why this becomes a bigger deal than just "she's human, she's sick". You hacks can get excited about her opening a pickle jar, but the media can only cover for her so much. 9/14/2016 12:46:09 PM |

Yep. Once I was riding BART(subway) to work and it was insanely packed and the heat from inside the car was unbearable. I remembered feeling really dizzy and apparently I collapsed and passed out. I work up with BART medics asking me basic questions about myself and they gave me some water. They wanted to draw blood and follow up, but I felt fine once I had some water. I was 27 at the time and in perfect health.
Another time I was at the doctor's office for a follow up visit to have stitches removed from a work related injury (I was 23 and a bartender and I almost severed my finger when a glass bottle shattered in my hand). As they were removing the stitches, I felt super woozy and apparently I passed out from it.
These are both isolated incidents that I chalk up to nothing more than being dehydrated/overheated/having stitches removed.
