He might be 330...but considering he's 6'8" or w/e that's not as outlandish as it might seem.

Yeah, for an NFL lineman. Not for a sport where you have to run 90 feet over and over again. Dude should be 270-280 tops.

I'm not saying it's ok...

I'm just saying that if you saw Anya you might be like oh he's not as huge as I thought. Doubt he weighs 330. But he very could be.

"fan" comes from people who "fancy" boxing.

at least that's what i read somewhere ten years ago.

from Wikipedia, which also notes that there's another theory that it is derived from "fanatic"

Hardly sounds like a "theory" to me. M-W and Oxford Dictionary >>>>>> Dickinson Baseball Dictionary (which bases its def. on one dude's opinion)

I didn't mean to incite a debate as to the origin of the word, I was just bitching about Bleacher Report

Given that it's an American word by origin, I'm not so certain the OED >>>>>> Dickinson Baseball Dictionary.

Online Etymology Dictionary had this to say:
"devotee," 1889, American English, originally of baseball enthusiasts, probably a shortening of fanatic, but may be influenced by the fancy, a collective term for followers of a certain hobby or sport (especially boxing); see fancy. There is an isolated use from 1682, but the modern word is likely a late 19c. formation. Fan club attested by 1930.

Seems like the precise etymology is unknown.

Can Anya be as dominating as him?

"Glennon has no running game and is purely a pocket passer". No problem, same is the case with Tom Brady

Looks to me like he's lost some weight...but maybe it's the jersey? And you can't expect him to go from fat ass to toned over the summer. I just wanted him to shed some pounds so he would be faster/quicker and not tire as easily. Looks to be on the way to me.

As long as he is in shape enough to run the floor and give us 5-7 minute spurts, Anya can give us what we need from him this year. I don't expect 38 minutes and workhorse stamina from a freshman big, especially at our tempo. Plenty of big men are not sculpted but are fit enough to be successful (see Sean May in college, even though his weight did contribute to leg and foot injuries).

I agree with mista brick on this one: he does look like he has shed some pounds. And, at least in this photo, he doesn't look anything close to reggie johnson or sean may.

I would give a nut for him to be as good as May was in college. And May wasn't nearly as big as RJ.

I just wish TBDV would shut up already until he proves he can rebound at an above middle school level. I mean the guy's 7 feet something and the ball literally has to him in the chest for him to get a board. What good is tweeting about "Vandenhops" or whatever the hell he talks about if you cant catch the effin ball?

Derek Whitenburg called me today to offer congrats on a recent achievment. I'm sort of a big deal now!

To be serious, it was an awesome surprise and it shows how positive we are going as a program.

The fuck? Our assistant coaches are making courtesy calls to people on their birthdays or something?

How the hell does that mean we're getting better?

Someone taking time out of their day to give a random fan a pat
On the back demonstrates character. It's positive, and hopefully it rubs of on the program. That's all that I meant.

I pray daily that the only time Vandy sees the court this year is in mop-up time and/or during the first 30 seconds of senior day.
