ps.. I'm making an appointment to talk to someone about celiac's. Might not be able to have the appointment for a few weeks so I'm confused as to whether I should go gluten-free right now. Don't you have to be eating gluten stuff when they test you?

Ok so there are Mitchell Hair Salons in Crabtree and in Crossroads.
I'm interested in the keratin infusion. I need something to help with the frizz but I don't want to dive into something that I would have to grow out or have to keep up with if I decide I don't like it.
Lucy, did you go to a Paul Mitchell salon or a Mitchells Hair Salon. Is there's a difference? 6/2/2011 9:07:31 PM |

I went to a Paul Mitchell salon. Not sure if it's the same as Mitchell's. This one only carries Paul Mitchell products. I think the product is well worth the price. It will also save you time when getting ready, as your hair will dry and style much faster. 6/2/2011 9:12:01 PM |

Yeah I guess I should've have added "for a while before the test"
I'm not sure how quickly you would be able to see a difference.. 6/2/2011 9:12:07 PM |

Okay cool. I'll call the Mitchells in Crabtree tomorrow and see if they offer the service. Their website is down. My best friend used to get her hair styled there and she loved the stylist.
Sam, when you call to make an appt you should ask if you should continue to eat normally until after the test. It can take up to 2 weeks for gluten to exit the body if you have a gluten allergy. 6/2/2011 9:14:10 PM |

I think if you suspect your diet is causing the problems and you have an appointment to see a doctor to confirm your suspicions, it's important not to change your diet until after you see the doctor. That way you're not unwittingly altering the results the doctor will see.6/2/2011 10:04:41 PM |

Woke up this morning and my hair looked almost as good as when the hairdresser styled it. I'm afraid to shower, because I never styled my hair before. I just had to buy a hairdryer, and could only afford to buy 2 of the products she used on me. Neither of them have hold, just a sun protector (she said my hair was super healthy, but my scalp seemed to be really susceptible to sun damage) and a sleek and shine type thing. I'm afraid I won't be able to make it look good. I'm going to get the hold products she put in before blow drying it, but I have to save my pennies. Anyone know of a good cheap product to use until then?
Sun Protector:
Smoothing Product:
These are the two hold products she used: Confixor
Phomollient Styling Foam
I also want to get the Rosemary Mint Shampoo and Conditioner. It smelled sooooo good!

I hate trying to do my own hair for the first time after getting a cut. It might be less about the products and more about technique, though, because even when I have the same products I can't seem to make it look the same. I suck at using product because no matter what it's supposed to do, it seems like when I put it in my own hair it just weighs it down.
I've gotten better about makeup. Now I guess hair is my next girly endeavor to learn. 6/3/2011 9:50:02 AM |

Well, I have the same kind of brush she used, and she spent a LOT of time talking to me about what product to use and when to use it and how much to use. She told me exactly how many pumps of the product to use. The only reason I remember what she used is because she wrote me a "haircare prescription," which was the most awesome thing ever. It was a little sheet of paper and she went through and circled all the products she used. I love that girl! 6/3/2011 9:54:21 AM |

when it comes to styling, a lot of it is practice. it's taken me years to master how my hair dresser does my hair - but also a lot of it is the right product.
i found that tresseme products work really well with my hair - especially the new climate control products - it keeps my hair shiny and frizz-free without weighing it down or making it look greasy at the root (which is a big problem with a lot of products in my hair). i use the climate control shampoo and then their styling foam - i don't know the technical name for it off the top of my head.
my hair is incredibly thick so i have to blow dry about 90% of it with just my hands before i can break it up in sections and start blow drying it with a round brush/flat ironing it.
there's some higher end products that i LOVE but i can't afford to buy them all the time. hence why i think it's good to also try to find a good product that is on the affordable side so if you have a time when you can't afford the expensive product, you can substitute it with the more affordable product. 6/3/2011 12:14:49 PM |

i've spent the better half of my afternoon calling different salons to see if they offer the paul mitchell keratin treatment iheartkisses had done but most of them only do the Brazilian blowouts. i just need something to fight this flipping frizz i get when it's humid out
if worse comes to worse - my boyfriend's mom does the keratin treatment on her own hair at home - she buys the stuff online and does it herself. and she does a really good job (she has thick, curly, course hair) and she offered a long time ago to do it for me. i would just need to order the product online. 6/3/2011 1:56:31 PM |

OH MY GOSHHHHH!!!!!!
i just got this in the mail today (remember i posted i ordered it a few pages back):
I LOVE IT!!! i was scared when i pulled it out of the box because it looked white in the pic but is actually more of a seafoamy color as the background? i don't know. almost white but a tint of green. anyway, i was like oh no i don't think i like it anymore, NO WORRIES I DO. i don't know if i'll ever wear it as a skirt. i LOVE it on the model, but i'm going to need the tenniest tiniest shortest shirt to wear with it because it is so long and i am so short. plus it looks kinda ultra hippie (on me) as a skirt. BUTTTTTTTTT IT LOOKS AWESOME AS A DRESS and is the PERFECT length. i can fold the top over OR not and either way it works. it looks super cute as a dress. i need a chunky necklace or bracelet or something though - i have nothing that matches these colors. this is maybe one of my fav things i've ever ordered off one of those "deal a day" sites.
this came last week and i wore it out last weekend and got about 200 compliments. hopefully people weren't just being nice, because sometimes i'm a bitch and tell people i like what they're wearing specifically because i don't like it (yea i know, i'm a bitch).
ALSO can i just say PRAISE JESUS for the belk junior's section hahaha. i went because everything on sale is an extra %15 off. so obvi 50% + 15% = i like. well i really went to get a wedding gift and got sidetracked. anywho. tried on all these dresses in the dress dept and none fit and was feeling really bad about myself. THEN i went to the JRs. i got a dress for $9 that was originally $65 (it was on clearance, which doesn't count for the extra 15% but whatever). it is a size 9/10 ahahahahahaha. biggest sized thing i've ever purchased. BUT if you can be ok with going up a few (or a lot) of sizes, there are some DEALS down there. just FYI. but another dress i got was a size S and fit fine. confusing sizing is confusing.
OK REALLY LONG POST I'M DONE NOW. i was just really happy with my interweb orders and my sweet new $9 NAVY STRIPED DRESS 6/3/2011 8:59:02 PM |

awww f it i'll post my belk's finds too.
$9 dress w/ no head. its navy striped. it will look better w/ a tan i promise.
aaand other sale dress w/ sale belt
P.S. do i have cankles? i feel like i have cankles. def need to lose weight. le sigh. i was doing so well for awhile. now i've fallen off the wagon and gained back 1/2 of what i lost. dammit.

^ ok whew. and lol @ the cankles having fat rolls hahahaha. great imagery.
i need help deciding what to wear to a wedding reception today.
let me tell you about it: it is my boss's daughter who i don't know well at all (met her like 4 times). i'm only going to the reception because someone has to be at work! and she just told me to come yesterday. i have no idea what this girl registered for (no time to look yesterday) so i got her a cheese board (on super sale at belk ahahaha) and a super sharp knife. she can return it if she wants. i just wanted to do a token gift because going to a wedding (or reception) with no gift seems slightly tacky.
so the wedding is at the angus barn pavilion (outdoor and outdoor reception - well open air barn area)
time...this is the tricky part! from 6 - 630 they are having hors d'oeuvres and cocktails (random). then the wedding is at 6:30. but they have stated like 500 times they don't want it to be an evening wedding. they just put it late because of the heat. so no one is wearing tuxes or evening dresses. which is all sorts of confusing. i'm sure someone will end up in a tux because its not like they printed that on the invitation. ANYWAY, i'll be going straight from work. i don't know if that maxi dress i posted (the geometric one) is appropriate. it isn't cotton its like a nicer silkier material. i'd totally wear it to a summer afternoon wedding. i just don't know what the dress code for this one is - the time conflicts with the style they want. i could do a cocktail dress too. i also have some other sundresses.
what what what what would you do?

kadwhackle, I LOVE the first dress!
cankles? no way, what a silly question. Like most women you seem to fret a lot about your weight / body. But you're at a healthy weight. You clearly know how to dress your body and look good in clothes. so why beat yourself up over a few pounds either way? just try to be happy with yourself and how you look.
eat healthy because it's good for you, do sports because you enjoy it. don't make healthy living a weight loss chore. 6/4/2011 9:09:14 AM |

At first I thought Katherine and I were going to be at the same wedding and I got excited. But the wedding we're attending is in CH and it's evening attire so I'm guessing nice, knee-length black dress for me and a suit for the boyfriend? I should have figured this out sooner but it's hot out and it's almost summer and who wears long dresses to weddings anymore? 6/4/2011 11:00:34 AM |

^^ awww mannnnn. i wish we were at the same wedding. i won't know anyone at this one. i think a knee length black dress is fine. i've NEVER worn a full dressy dress to an evening wedding. i just wear nicer cocktail type dresses. is yours outside?!
