im watching a special on china on disc channel. they just showeed a karaoke bar and at a table was about 4 chinese business men. the table itself was covered in budweisers, do the chinese really like budweiser that much? thx

the cloud ceiling is really low today, and the mountians jetting up righton the other side of the runways are moving in and out of the clouds.

it's pretty surreal.

the open bar doesn't hurt.

we had a big dinner last night and had the state room reserved...

of course one side of the room was a big ass tv with a karaoke machine and speakers...

it did not get used, i dont think that the ~50% azn contingent we had with us was enough to push over the edge.

as for budweiser, I didnt see a single one the entire time I was here... I saw it on the menu at the hotel bar, but the prices were outrageous, ~$9US / bottle... but of course that's a hotel bar price.

in relation though, a bottle of bud was more than a double shot of bombay sapphire over san pellegrino ice cubes.

the beer of choice everywhere we went was tsingtao, and it's derivatives.

it's a different blend than you get as the export version if you get it in the united states, rice is one of the fermentation ingredients for the domestic product... i liked it a lot more than the export you can pick up at harris teeter or something, which does not contain rice... as i understand it.

also the locals have a thing with the quindao water where tsingtao is brewed as having some magestic properties... who knows.

we also drank a lot of kingsway, which was a local brew to Shenzhen, the city I was staying in.

however, tsingtao is cheap as balls in china, which was nice, and allowed for heavier drinking w/o concern for expense reports

at most places we went for dinner it was ~$2US for a liter bottle. if you bought in a liquor store it was ~$0.75US for a liter.
