One of my friends asked if UNC could win divisional champ (while not going to the acc champ game). This was in the recent ACC announcement:
Quote : | "The decision was made that should a member institution be ineligible for postseason competition due to NCAA sanctions, it will be ineligible for regular season or divisional recognition." |

Help wanted: Head of UNC's boring non-sports operations
"Our outgoing chancellor enjoyed our “surprise party” program in which random administrators would visit with engaging monologues like, “Remember the cute couple on that plane that we borrowed from the med school to go out fundraising? Turns out they’re an item, and a newspaper reporter is holding on line 3."
At your present institution, do you have a class in Swahili? No problem. It turns out we didn’t either!"

"What has been most troublesome to me about this entire scandal, if we're going to call it that, over the last two years, is that it has called into question our institutional decision-making and our priorities," said Jay Smith, an associate history professor and one of the most outspoken critics of the university's handling of the investigations.

This far into this whole investigation I don't see how people can say with a straight face that the AFAM thing was cheating to keep athletes eligible. These weren't "manageable classes", they were fake classes held primarily to churn out A's and B's for athletes. 10/16/2012 3:05:46 PM |

But Martin said he doesn’t view his job as looking for NCAA violations or identifying easy classes that do meet; the latter, he said, can be found on nearly any campus across the country. He also doesn’t think he will have the time to conduct a sweep of course work turned in by athletes to find out how prevalent plagiarism is.
“We are looking to see if we can find when (the no-show classes) began and if other departments have had similar or the same kinds of mischief,” Martin said.

I think Kane is sitting on something. If he is intelligent and has any ammo at all, he will wait until his opposing player turns over all their cards and then strike to kill any credibility they might have. I am all for Kane just sitting on any info he has until the Martin and SBI investigations are complete. If both reports fail to touch on anything Kane has in his stockpile of ammunition, then it immediately calls for yet another investigation and casts prior investigations in the same light as the shams UNC has perpetrated for the past 2 years.
There is no point in laying down your cards before your adversary when they are required to play first. Doing so would only allow them to take advantage of the information and deflect.
I personally still see this as dragging on for another year, which only drags the UNC name through the mud for another year. We should be cheering for this and not demanding more information every week. Patience is a virtue. 10/16/2012 11:12:04 PM |

^^^While that would be epic if he did that, you don't become a journalist to not report things that you find. Kane isn't on some personal vendetta to bring down UNC no matter what posters on IC would have you believe, he's just assigned to the story. Very little of either post was in his own words.

No, you moron, UNC KEEPS their athletes eligible even through their transgressions ON and OFF the field. State on the other hand, kicks such transgressors off the team(Soccer team, Moose etc). Tough steps but necessary
