and it just fucking sucks!

my poor patient ignored his 6 months of worsening headaches, thought he was in good health BAM has a seizure during dinner gets rushed to the hospital has more seizures-- they find a tumor on CT and MRI gets biopsied shits not good. gets reintubated when he starts "snoring" while he is wide awake.......finds out that the hiccups that just wont go away despite every medicine we give him are being caused by a "lesion" on his brainstem FUCK!

poor guy hasnt had time to process the fact that he has a big ass tumor in his head. Hasnt been coherent enough to remember he has a tumor in the first place... all he knows is we keep waking him by by shoving tubes and suction catheters down his throat

in a brief moment of clarity just before we tube him again EVERYTHING hits him at once and he's starting to cry, and im right there crying with him wanting to tell him that its all gonna be okay, but its not gonna be ok, its so shitty that some of the NSU team is wondering whats the point of taking him to the OR to cut out the largest of the tumors.


6 months is a lifetime for someone with a GBM..............this poor kid is out of time...........and its breaking our hearts.
