^^ i'm pretty sure there is an option to diable the punishing for TK's. i'm not sure how i feel about it considering i have played in servers without it as well. i dont think it really matters all that much cause i've noticed that even though there is no punishing, a person still takes negative numbers if he kills a teammate.

yea, he loses two for the tk, then two if they decide to punish. and i, too, have played in servers where i couldn't punish.

ps. i love shooting down choppers with jeep guns.

OK, what the hell. Have there been any significant changes to the sniper rifles in the last 2 patches?

Sometimes those DontCamp guys are dicks. I was playing on there a while back and [DC]nateman must be like 12 years old. I joined his squad and immediately he starts ordering me around with the in game VoIP. I just ignored him until Maugan joined and we created our own squad.

Sad thing is that another buddy of mine and I were on a team together playing on that server. It was maybe 7 v 7 on Dalian Plant. There were 4 or 5 DC guys together on one team and I imagine they were all on TeamSpeak together. We wiped the floor with them. It was pitiful on their part.

It's an ok server sometimes, it's nice to experiment with all the weapons, but there are often better games to be had.

yea i played a bit last night on this server to try the weapons out. i havent decided what weapon to unlock yet when i make corporal. i'm tossed up between the medic and spec ops unlock. the engineering unlock would be cool but i go through a clip in 2 seconds and takes forever to unload.

I'm telling ya - the anti-tank unlock is the shit

I wish I could give back my spec ops unlock for the medic.

Honestly by the time I get my 3rd unlock I almost wish it was more like medic, anti-tank, sniper

I only say sniper because occasionally I will play sniper and aside the M24.. I despise the default rifles in this game.

Don't worry, my group [AGB] will have an unranked, unlocked server running soon. We are also recruiting new members. We aren't a clan, more of a bunch of people who like to play, we don't play competitive matches. We will have a ranked server, the aforementioned unranked server, a DC box and a 1942 server running. As more mods come out for BF2 we will venture into them as well. We just got done with a Battlefield Pirates event.

Check us out at http://www.agbgaming.com

SVD is 10x better than the Barrett. It's so slow to reload after each shot and not any more accurate than the M24. I was sniping some last night on Sharqi because my teammates were morons and I was getting bored trying to take flags by myself. I was sniping near the middle of the map and actually got a number of kills with the M95, most I've ever gotten on one map.

Of course an idiot teammate has to ruin my good fun by tripping the claymore I set at the top of a ladder. Then he punishes me for it. I chewed him out good and a few teammates got a good laugh out of it.

I find the G36C is just as good, if not better for medium to long range shooting. I was taking out rooftop snipers on Mashtuur City left and right.

I can't believe the lengths some people will go to when they know the server won't allow kick voting or punishing. I am talking about some unbelievably gay shit. The kind of thing where I'd love to be able to reach through the computer and repeatedly kick the person in the nuts for about an hour straight.

I've grown tired of this game. Until they patch, my time spent in game will only be when other people I know are on. Pubbing by yourself now gets boring fast. I end up more frustrated than I do enjoying myself. The only fun I have had lately are when friends get on and we coordinate to get things done.

Once they have a way of finding people in certain servers, I am gonna have a hell of a time. I am gonna create a new account, and every time some asshole goes on a TK killing spree, I am gonna log on with my new account. Then I will follow him to every server he goes to and shoot him in the face for like an hour straight.

still no news on the releasing of the next patch. there's all kinds of speculation that it'll be in the 1st week of october but no one seems to be absolutely certain of that. it sux cause this is gettin pretty bad with the glitches and hacks that people have found and exploited. i havent played in a few days myself cause i think until that patch comes it's not worth the headache of a billion noobish tactics like bunny-hopping and the like.

I really don't run into these problems you guys are complaining about on a widespread scale.

My only outstanding gripe is with the missiles and their propensity to divert from a closer enemy jet towards a further away friendly helo even when I'm locked on.

it eludes me.

Agreed. However, I have yet to get into a game with someone I know. I also have yet to even test out my headset! That would definitely make things a lot more entertaining for me.

I just could not believe some of the bullshit I saw last night. I can't remember the name of the USMC vs. China map, but I think it was FuShe Pass. I watched one guy spawn and run to the jeep parked at the end of the Chinese airfield, and then sit and wait for a plane to spawn straight ahead in the dual hangar. As soon as someone would get in the plane, he would come flying down the airstrip and mow the jeep right into the plane. As soon as I saw him do it twice, I tried to vote to kick him but the stupid server wouldn't allow voting. I got so pissed off the fourth time I saw him do it that I spawned as antitank and spent the rest of the match blowing up his jeep when he'd keep trying it. It is just unreal to me that someone would actually be entertained by repeatedly doing something as assholish as that.

Man, you are NOT kidding about that. I can't believe how piss-poor the missile lock is. I threw 6 missiles at a hovering Blackhawk yesterday, and not a single one of them hit it.

FUCK THAT BLACKHAWK.

I swear to god when I saw that "video" of the missile going through the middle of the blackhawk, I was like "whoa thats kind of cool." Now I'm convinced that the game just hates me.

I'll unload a salvo of missiles at some unsuspecting schmuck in a black hawk only to see three of them go RIGHT THROUGH IT.

THREE

Not one.

Not two.

BUT THREE FUCKING MISSILES that are SUPPOSED to be locking onto a heat signature (I guess someone in the cabin is smoking a magnesium coated cigar or something) and just go through the blackhawk and more than likely re-lock onto a friendly guy just minding his own business and I get blamed for the shit.

It drives a pilot to commit acts of insanity. You want to know WHY we decide to fly into helicopters???? Because its the only sure fire way of knowing they are going to die when we shoot something at them.

Actually, the best way of attacking a blackhawk is from above where the guns can't get a bead on you. Fuckers will chew you up.

coming down on a heli from above is the best way, sometimes my missiles ignore their stupid flares and just nail them anyways.

also, apparently you fly faster at higher altitudes, must be less wind resistance

Just get Xfire, go back through this thread, and add everyone who has posted their Xfire names. Makes joining fellow TWWers easy. I have a Ventrilo server set up too that is for TWW general use, the login info is somewhere in this thread, so set that up and you can use your headset too.

^I think that might be a glitch in the game. I don't think the flying physics are that detailed. I have seen the wing of an F/A-18 hit one of those thin smokestacks on Daqing Oilfields before and instead of blowing up, the plane just starts spinning out of control in all three axes. Sometimes the pilot is even able to regain control. If it isn't a glitch, you are probably just flying downward which gives you the acceleration due to gravity in addition to the thrust of your engines.

I'll confirm what wraith just said.

Its not that you go faster when higher, its just that going down makes you go faster.

I've hit a resupply crate doing like 1400 before in the F18 but sometimes when I'm bombing on kubra dam, I'll clip a tower and do a 980 and then afterburn my way out of it.

speaking of which, why in the fuck is there a goddamned tower next to every single fucking runway on every single map? Fire the fucking engineers on that one.

P.S. your teammates will punish you if you kill them while flying through the hangars

yea that's definitely tru. although in real life, jets expend more fuel in lower altitudes than they do in higher altitudes. but thankfully, we dont have to worry about fuel issues in this game.

Yeah, it seems to me that at least with aircraft, there should be significantly higher hit detection for shooting through the rotors - which should logically be the highest probability of a hit. I think it'd probably unbalance a lot of things if they had that same type of hit detection with ground units, but I would like to see this with fighters and fighter bombers. I also still want an air brake!

LOL. I noticed that early on as well. Very annoying, those stupid towers. Even the slightest clip can bring down the plane as if you hit a brick wall in the dead center.

Quote :

I thought that this occurred when the plane flew too high out of the Z-axis boundaries of the map, which, by the way, need to be MUCH more clearly defined.

^It happens then too, as well as if you try to leave the map. I would think they would have a "Warning you are leaving the field of battle" before you hit the ceiling, but no, one second you are chasing some guy in a dogfight, the next you are spinning out of control (after you eject it takes like two mins to parachute down).

If you fly over 1000 you lose control, just cut your engines until you're back under

I dunno, you definitely fly faster at high altitudes, just going straight. You might need the afterburners, but the top speed is higher for some reason.

PS auto sniper rifles are superior as hell. I really wish I didn't unlock the M95

"Community Update – 9/30/05

Battlefield 2 1.03 Update Enters Final QA Pass
That's right, troops. Barring any last minute issues, the 1.03 update is only a few days from release now. We thought this occasion warranted a post covering the major features and fixes coming in 1.03, so settle back and enjoy.

Wake Island 2007
That's right, the 1.03 update bundles the first official map release from EA and DICE. In this case the map is a modern-era update of one of the most popular maps from Battlefield 1942 -- Wake Island. The People's Liberation Army has invaded Wake to threaten American supply lines. In response the US Marine Corps has been dispatched to reclaim the island. Pick a side and fight to win!

The new Wake Island map comes to you free of charge thanks to Fileplanet’s new Battlefield 2 Channel. Visit it at Fileplanet’s new Battlefield 2 Channel

New Features
Stats compare - view the extended stats details for any other player in your BFHQ simply by double-clicking on their name on the leader board or using the new search feature!
Server Favorites and History - find your favorite servers that much easier. No more searching for them through the main server list!
Nickname Prefix - Add and change your clan tag to your account name at will. No more creating alternate account names to cover the changes in your competitive lifestyle!
Supply Drop Icons - Supply drops now appear on the main map and within the 3D Map. Find that elusive supply drop much, much quicker!
Points for Destroying Command Objects - players now receive points for destroying the commander's toys. Special Forces players rejoice!
Server Reserved Slots - Server Operators can now set aside slots for their admins to join a full server at any time!
Vehicle Passengers - the names of players in a vehicle with you are now displayed when you enter or change seats.
Countermeasures - a reload bar has been added for vehicle countermeasures. You'll always know now when you can set off that next flare!

Tweaks
Point Farming changes - DICE has implemented functionality that makes it significantly harder to point farm on Ranked Servers.
Mod Support - Mods now work properly with the Dedicated Server! Additionally, the game will automatically switch mods when joining a server that is running a mod you have installed but do not have activated.
Map tweaks - Spawn menu map and Commander maps now scale based on the size of the level being played (16, 32 or 64 players). Mini-map also scales automatically based on the vehicle type you are using (manual changes to zoom levels are remembered as well).
Commander scoring - No more TKs from Artillery!
Vehicle tweaks - No more accidental kills from bumping a friend with your tank (try to avoid hitting him at speed though) and no more struggling uphill in an APC. Also no more improper TK allocation from vehicle explosions.
Auto Team Balance tweaks - Commanders and Squad Leaders now immune to team switch.
Anti-Air Missiles - These are now much more effective against fast-movers.
…and much, much more!

See everyone on the Battlefield soon!"

About damn time...Guess it should be out this week. Looks like they actually listened to the community and implemented some changes everyone complained about (missles, commander arty TKs, points for asset destruction, etc)

It's about damn time they started giving points for blowing commander asset's up. That is one of my favorite things to do, get in an F-15 with another spec ops, fly over to their base from behind, eject/parachute behind something then sneak in and blow everything up all at once. One second it is all fine, the next second "UAV trailer is down, sattelite uplink is down, artillery is down." Then we just run around shooting the engineers that try and fix them and if things get too heavy, steal a chopper and fly into the sunset. Good times, guys.

no this isnt the 1st time i've played an EA game. i played BFV a lot and got really good at it. i never really had a problem with that game. i dont really know much about BFV and if they did or didnt listen to people. i would just think that to stop people bitching and to keep making money, they would have to listen to the players. from a business standpoint it'd be dumb not to IMO.

There are currently rumours circulating that the v1.03 update for Battlefield 2 will be released today - Monday, 3rd October. Apparently an email sent to Trusted Partners (those providing ranked game servers) was leaked, and it contained mention of an October 3rd release date for the patch. If correct, we could be seeing the update by around 9pm GMT tonight."
