Quote :
"If Vick were to miss this season and next, what will the market for quarterbacks likely be in 2009?
The market is actually pretty set, as 27 teams have starting or potential starting quarterbacks signed through 2009. The four remaining teams will resolve their quarterback issues within the next year. Dallas' Tony Romo is signed through only this season but has played well enough that Jerry Jones will lock him up to a long-term deal before the start of free agency next year. Buffalo quarterback J.P. Losman is signed through 2008 but is showing enough efficiency running Dick Jauron's offense that he probably will receive a contract extension.

The two uncertain situations are in Jacksonville and Tampa Bay. Byron Leftwich is signed through the upcoming season, so the Jaguars might be looking for a quarterback. Even if they don't stick with Leftwich, they likely will resolve their quarterback situation next year, eliminating Vick's chances of getting a job there. Plus, Jaguars ownership places a premium on character and wouldn't sanction a Vick signing. Jeff Garcia's contract with Tampa is up after the 2008 season, but Vick wouldn't be a good fit for the type of offense the Bucs like to run.

Are there long-shot chances for Vick?
Possibly. What if Tarvaris Jackson doesn't work out in Minnesota? For the moment, the Vikings have cast their lot with Jackson and Brooks Bollinger, and coach Brad Childress wants a mobile quarterback. Nobody is more mobile than Vick. The problem facing Childress is that if Jackson and Bollinger fail, he might be in trouble. Childress runs the West Coast offense, and Vick hasn't shown a great ability to run that type of system.

Childress is a bright, flexible coach, but it might be hard for him to tailor his offense to Vick's skills. Plus, the team's ownership probably wouldn't endorse a Vick signing because of the likely public backlash. The Vikings are trying to secure a new stadium, and signing Vick could hurt those efforts.

Another long shot could be the Chiefs, if Brodie Croyle fails. Chiefs president Carl Peterson has the kind of clout to make a bold move, but he would have to be convinced Vick could lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl. "

Yea, these ARE just allegations thus far. Banning the guy from the NFL is just absurd. He deserves his day in court, just like the average american.

^^^ That column is crazy. Vick would be better than all of those guys he mentions in that article. JP Losman, Byron Leftwich, Tavaris Jackson, Brodie Croyle??

Even if you admit that Vick is no Manning, Brady, Brees, McNabb, etc, you have to admit that he is easily better than the likes named above.

Losman was a better QB than Vick last year. He had some great games down the stretch when Vick was stinkin it up, and he only figures to get better considering how young he is. There's no way in hell Vick is "easily better" than Losman.

Thats what you call a "moot point". Off-the-field issues will always factor into Vick's future from here on out.

^^How likely is it that Vick improves more in jail than young starting QBs do on the field, in practice, and with full access to NFL facilties?

You guys are SILLY if you think Vick will even sniff jail time. I mean, come on. No one gets time for dog fighting!!!!!! This is ridiculous. People are blood thirsty, man. Even the losers on animal planet get off!!

I have never in my life heard of someone getting jail time for this (even when caught red handed) let alone someone of Vicks status. And in this case, where is the EVIDENCE? Just because two co-defendants take plea bargins does not mean ANYTHING.

This is a sad situation where society wants to see the rich black celebrity take a dive. But when you have white whores in Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan endangering the lives of people behind the wheel of a vehicle, its cute.

Guilty by public.

What good is banning a guy or taking his money if he's found innocent?

Ray Lewis bounced back from MURDER CHARGES

Kobe Bryant bounced back from RAPE CHARGES

you mean to tell me Vick can't bounce back from dog fighting charges? This makes no sense.

You're joking right? Does owning the house where the fighting/training/killing of dogs took place and bankrolling the whole operation not count as evidence?

So, if I have a rental property. And say, I rent it out to Jeffrey Dahmer and he does his thing. That means Im a killer to, correct? Even if I live in another STATE!!

In this case, he's linked to dog fighting thru a damn title? Ya, that will really hold up in court, little fella.

Um, in this case, yes it will hold up in court. Vick will go to prison.

Who have you known to go to prison for this? You ever watch animal planet (scumbags are caught red handed and get slapped on the wrist) ? You know how much money he has (Vick)? Jason Williams shot someone with a shotgun point blank range killing them, did he serve time?

if you like it or not, there is no connecting evidence against Vick other than home title. Oh, and some dead beat friends testifiying against him to cut their time.

You people need to stop this.

My points are simple:

People rarely-to-none serve prison time for dog fighting. People NEVER serve lengthy time for this matter.

You've alread convicted this man in they eye of the public which is unfair. All the evidence have not been released.

You haven't heard his defense!!!

So stop this "he's going to jail crap". You make yourselves sound like negative blood thristy drama whores. What if you were in his situation?

This could easily be a case where he just had the wrong circle of friends around him. It happens everyday.

The federal government dissagrees. And so does Vick apparently if he continues to pursue a plea. You do know that if Vick cuts a plea he's admitting guilt, don't you?

the feds would never indite you if they didnt think they could get a conviction with the evidence they had at that moment. The testimony of the co-defendants is the icing on the cake.

actually, yeah, pretty much. the feds have something like a 95% conviction rate. like someone said earlier, the feds don't go to court unless they have ALL the evidence they need to convict.

Of course they do. And 99% of the time they are 100% guilty. That's why they cut a deal.

Why would Vick with the $ and lawyers he has available cut a plea if he is innocent? With a plea he is guaranteed to serve jail time. And by admitting his guilt, his career and reputation would be ruined. He could possibly never play in the NFL again and would absolutly never sign another endorsement deal.

Get your head out of your ass.

He's guilty a shit and he pissed his life away b/c he's a degenerate asshole.

You are lost man. That proves you don't know what the hell you are talking about. You're no different from the rest of the blood thirsty jerks wanting to persecute this man before a court date.

People take plea bargains to crimes that they know they didnt commit all the time. You know why? because they are pressured to, to either a) speed the case up b) settle with lesser charges, and pay a fine to get it dismissed.c) or if the defendant has served time (time served) a prison sentence can be cut down heavily.

So you are wrong, once again sir. It, in many cases, has nothing to do with being guilty!!

You make no sense at all. The only reason anyone would choose a), b), or c) is if they are guilty. Would you plead guilty to a crime you didn't commit? Hell no. Why do you think Vick would be dumb enough to do the same.

Since you don't read my posts before you reply I'll repeat what I said:

To get a relentless prosecutor off your back, big guy. example; a man served a 20 year sentence for a crime he did not committ. He was later found innocent after doing 20 years of prison time. A new DA came along, found what he thought was more conviction evidence, restarted the same trial (tripple murder) made the man's life a living hell. Man chose to go to court, again.

DA offers plea bargain. Promised that the man would do NO more time, due to time served, and had spoken with all the prison officials in the state. The man was faced with a dillema, should he trust the plea bargain, or just fight it out and win again even with new evidence that really didnt point towards him. A couple of the mans co-defendants had died, due to age and others were simply to old to remember what happend to testify.

The man took the plea bargain. Not because he was guilty, but just to end all the foolishness. Well, turned out the prison officials misunderstood and miscalculated the time/details of everything, so he had to do a year. He's now free.

At the end of the day, he took the plea bargain to END the foolishness. He took it bc key defense people had died due to old age. He had already beaten this case before, and the new case was a joke. And this is a true story. So there are MANY reasons why people take plea bargains. I hope you've learned something today.

Vick is guilty. If he's completely exonerated, I'll never post on TWW again. If not, you should do the same. Put up or shut up.

I could see him getting as much as an 8 game suspension but ultimately I think they'll go with a more appropriate 4 game suspension.

I just hope this doesn't affect his on the field play too much, this was shaping up to be his bounceback year now that Jerrious Norwood should be ready to play.
