Hell fire if I give up. It's just discouraging. I feel like I should work harder and eat less calorie wise as if I'm not doing something right and I can feel myself burning out on that.

if I think about it, i will never go back.

oye No wonder I have a headache...

I dropped the mayo, I'm now a mustard fiend. I stick to 1250-1300 calories.

Another thing, pants that didn't fit so well three weeks ago do now, so uh i'm putting too much emphasis on the scale I guess...

I just can't see how you're going to turn this into a lifestyle if all you're doing is worrying and pushing too hard and not enjoying what you do eat. That's the impression I get.

I haven't lost any in a while either and I work out probably 4-5 times a week and don't eat too bad....

I dunno. I think I look alright now though... so I'm not going to stress- I'll just keep working out.

Keep it up Kiwi!

Nah, I might start though, my current cardio is boring me and i hate hate hate that Jacobs ladder.

I've been reading on how to get awesome cardio on the tredmill. Increase incline a little, srint as hard as you can for 15 seconds, then fast pace walk for 45 and repeat 10-12 imes. If you have more time at the gym do longer times.

I do walk alot at a somewhat fast pace though. I have shitty knees and ankles.

Yeah don't worry about the boobies. They're good...

I saw some pics of me in a bikini from the cruise recently and hey- I don't look fat.

Still 15 lbs more would be AWESOME!

yeah I stopped having fun when he scale started going haywire, plus stress from work driving me insane. The foods I do eat are tasty. The working out is annoying because of the jacobs ladder but I'm going to cut that out for a little while. I love strength training but i only have hour sessions and I want to get more in. Maybe i'll get a tape and do lunges and squats and that sort of thing at home.

I guess I should breathe, relax, enjoy the process, and wait for results. I remember freaking out about this when i first started, then the weight came off. Maybe it's a cycle thing. i just don't want to waste time wating if there is something I can change to hurry it along.

if you are really worried about your calorie intake being to low/high I recommend going to the Human Performance Lab at Meredith and getting a resting metabolic rate done. My nutritionist suggested it to me and I found it very helpful.

like i mentioned before, there will come a time where you will have to look past the scale and look to your clothing...

you are gonna get into the range where its going to be harder than ever to lose weight and you are gonna stay around the same weight, like people have mentioned with the muscle mass and stuff.

dont worry about what the scale says.

He kept going on with how pleased he was with me, to continue and not give up after seeing some results. to go off and do my own research on dieting and actually sticking to it because there's only so much he can do, the diet is all me. To see those kind of results like I have, he said he really couldn't ask for anything better. You dont want to lose weight too fast but I've definitely seen some incredible results.

I shrugged and told him it was/is a lifechange and I'll never go back to that. Then we talked about all the different sorts of dieters. The ones that lose 20lbs. in a few months then gain it back plus some. The ones who justify eating poorly because they have a personal trainer. the ones that jsut flat out refuse because it's their genetic dysfunction. His analogy was "Yeah bulldogs ma be larger breeds genetically an may have a larger build but they still require exercise and the right diet." Perfect way to put it1 Then we talked about the 330lbs. man who came into the gym as a last resort and is now 285 and still losing.

Determination and dedication is all you need sweetheart.

For some peopel losing weight is one of the ultimate tests of willpower.

Losing even a little weight can make a huge difference though, just in appearance.

It's all about consistant diet and exercise. The idiots who think they can take a pill and get thinner are probably holding down the IQ average.

Well I read all nutritional Guides or whatever they're called. On anything I eat.

I don't eat trans fats. Sat fats of 5 grams or less per serving, typically less. Lots and lots of fruits like raspberries, strawberries, kiwis, blueberries, oranges, peaches, bananas, and others once they come into season. Vegetables I hate but force myself to eat carrots, green beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado , corn (not the best choice but meh). Meats I make sure to eat more white than red. I'll have chicken, turkey, lean steak everyonce in a while. I eat tuna. We're going to get some pork too.

Basically foods that came from nature. I could widen my food spectrum but considering from jsut six months ago I was eating out up to two times a day, things are good.

^^^^ you need a little bit of knowledge about what you're doing, but determination and dedication go a long way and are where most people fall short (i.e., they may not be nutritionists and fitness pros, but they know enough to get the job done--they just don't do it.)

Determination and dedication pushed me to research things about food and exercise. I've learned so much about my body just by joining a gym almost six months ago. If I didn't stay determined and dedicated to my goals i would have been off track a long time ago, missing alot of important information.

I hate t use that damn trademark qoute "Just do it" so i'll say "Make it happen" instead. No excuses because it can be done and the proof is right here in this thread..

<-- 30lbs since Dec.

People constantly tell me I look completely different now.

I stopped drinking soda. Stopped putting sugar and cream in my coffee. I drink once a week now, and only on the weekend. When i do drink, it's usually no more than 4-6 bottles of beer or a bottle of wine. I stopped eating fast food, and I cook for myself at home. I eat smaller portions. I try to run/bike at least 3 times a week for about an hour.

It really doesn't take much. Just the willpower to keep it up.

Yeah no soda. I only drink skim milk and water. If I drink it's clear shots, less calories with the same outcome. I hit the gym 4-5 times a week. I strength train (has helped alot in the weight loss program). I eat the amount my stomach can hold, I visually picture the amount and stop there. I eat when hungry, I eat four to six times a day now, instead of three. I allow sweets which allow me to limit intake instead of cutting them out of my life completely and fighting with will power. When I do cardio I make sure to keep increasing the resistance when things seem to get to easy, i make sure I sweat hard. I have cheerleaders, my boyfriend most importantly, my mother too. I park far away from the stores, i do my own manual labor. I volunteer to help people pick up heavy things, I get active.

i don't let my diet rule me, the foods I eat are tasty, so much tastier than bland fast food. I am always conscience of my decisions and know every little choice adds up.

I'm a different person.

How do you strength train?

The boxing aerobics guy told me I need to lift weights etc along w/ the cardio I do 5 x a week because cardio can only do so much...

I have been where I am now for 1.5 months which is kinda sucky...

I don't know anything about lifting weights etc though.

^^^ yep, lifting weights is key

^ i wouldn't want to learn to lift weights on the internet. you could go in there and work through the machines and a few simple freeweight exercises without really any instruction and it would be a start, but you'd benefit from getting some guidance and instruction from someone who knows what he/she's doing.

also, not everyone who looks the part knows what he's doing, and some runts/fatbodies know a lot...but when asking for advice, I always looked for people who clearly were a couple of steps up from me in the fitness world.

cardio does a lot for you. it does more for your cardiorespiratory system then strength training (which does very little).

however, strength training for women is pretty important. it increases bone density (osteoporosis), increases metabolism due to more muscle tissue and it balances your overall fitness.

^ don't listen to drunknloaded. there is a lot more to weight lifting than that.

there is technique, muscle focus, concentric and eccentric movements, negatives, supersets...

most importantly is technique.

Strength training is basically "tearing" your muscles to make bigger muscles, more muscles expend more calories. Basically it costs more for your body to keep muscle around than fat. you will burn more calories if you have a higher muscle mass. Omg I explained that three ways.

Anyways you can get some dumbbells anywhere and lift weights, just make sure you do all the muscles in a certain group. I don't know the names of them but I know if I work biceps I should do triceps, shoulbers, chest, back and so on.

For legs we do lots of lunges and squats, sometimes weight machines. right now i'm using ten pound weights in each hand when I do lunges. You increase difficulty to keep growing new muscle. Core muscles you can do the prone bridge and side bridges. also every weight lifting exercise you do pull in your tummy to work the core muscles.

Search the internet. I often visit sparkpeople.com and ediets.com and they have some good exercising tips for those who don't have gym memberships.

Just don't do them everyday, allow the muscles to heal before working again, and alternate the groups you do so you get "even" and all muscles are being attended to.

you want to use a weight that will feel "impossible" to do one more rep. when we started out we did 3 reps at 10. We're up to fifteen now 3 or four times, depending on what it is. We go through a set of exercises, rest for one minute then repeat. Girls can handle manly weights. For that pull down bar I lift 40lbs. Don't be afraid of weights.

Which is what I am asking for advice on... so GTFO.

Thank you Kiwi! That is exactly what I was looking for. I don't go to the gym since I have the elliptical in my apt so I need at-home things I can do.
