kate is annoying as fuck, thereby voiding the hotness.

she lost her alpha female status when juliet came on the scene.

Kate is annoying, but she has always been more or less annoying. since she stepped into the playing field second season always wanting to tag along.

Sun didn't do anything important on the island before keamy and all balls showed up and they tried to force her into being an important character. She just comes off as more annoying. Like that kid who always tries to get his story in but they're never interesting.

cool, i like this - gives credence to the idea that the writers were working the time travel angle back in season 1
Quote :
"But for me, here’s the most important thing – I think we’re close to finally having the confirmation we needed that the Others knew a hell of a lot about our Survivors before they arrived on the Island. We now know that Ben met Sayid and Alpert met Locke / Sawyer (and talked to them about time travel). While they might not have enough to go on to actually work up the full life histories of these characters (yet – aside from Locke), they have about 30 years until they come back to the Island with the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, which is plenty of time to start researching EVERYTHING about them.

How was Ben seemingly always one step ahead of our characters? Because he had full files about some of them before they ever arrived on the Island – because he knew they would eventually be there (especially true of Locke, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Juliet – who just conveniently happen to be the characters he has “messed with” the most over the years). While he didn’t know exactly when or how they would arrive, he knew they would eventually get there – which is why he quickly sent out Ethan and Goodwin to work up “lists” of the people who survived the Oceanic 815 crash. He probably did something similar each time ANYTHING crashed on the Island. He was waiting for them."

he's not dead. He's a good 8 years older in the Dharma death scene. Plenty of time for some weird shit to happen.

I'm surprised no ones asked

1. Is Jin's knocked out or dead?

2. If young ben dies, does old ben disappear?

I really don't understand how it's possible that so many people think this is true.

Do you people just have this show on in the background when you're doing your taxes or something? There's no excuse to be this...pardon the pun, lost when watching this show.

uhh.... yeah.
Those are the "rules" that were laid out for us by Faraday earlier. Now, maybe they will break those rules somehow, but until we see evidence of that, we have to assume those rules are still in place

I'm amazed that people don't understand that Ben, Frank, Sun, Hispanic Male, Prostitute Bounty Hunter, and other survivors aren't in the same time island as Jack, Sayid, Kate, and Hurley.

so how will the writers revive young ben?

i think it would be more shocking if he stayed dead for the time being--even going so far as burying him.

i have no earthly idea how they would explain ben being alive in the future, but it would make for some good television.

1. he flipped him over his shoulder then punched him, why on earth would he be dead??

2. i don't think they wanna get into that type of shit, thats why they put "the rules" and thats why i don't think he is dead.

I wouldn't think so, not if Faraday's rules are correct.

The next two episode titles might seem to imply otherwise, though.

Nah in the next episode preview Jin was alive

I'm guessing that young Ben will be revived by Jack shepard. (probably by him repeatedly punching young Ben in the chest, like he did with charlie)

More importantly...

WHERE IS VINCENT?

my guess is jin wakes up sees ben there and takes him to the dharma group and they put him in the hospital. This little incident where he trusted someone and they ended up shooting him when all he wanted was to find a place where he belonged is what turns him into a cold heartless lying bastard

lol I don't believe that someone thought that Sayid actually killed Jin.

And whoever thinks that Sun/Ben/Lapidus are in 1977 you are WRONG. It literally said "30 years earlier/later" in last week's episode.

But yeah, we haven't seen any examples of the island's healing powers in the 70's yet, but there is no reason to expect that it won't heal Ben. As someone mentioned, Locke was shot and after Walt showed up, he seemed to heal almost instantly.

Do you think Ben recognized Sayid when he was being interrogated as Henry Gale in Season 2? I'd be interested to see if they tie it back into that somehow.

i love the episodes that show the character development of Sayid. i think he is the most intriguing of the "survivors" (that term is extinct now).

i like the complexity of the show as a whole right now, i still miss the island adventure tho

I think that's a given... pretty obvious. That was one of the most pivotal moments in Ben's entire life (as some have already mentioned in the last few posts), there's no way he wouldn't remember every detail. Probably one of the biggest points of this episode was to establish Ben's prior relationship with Sayid as a child; how that affected Ben in the past and his relationship with Sayid in the "present."

It's probably why Ben, the leader of the Others and their most important member, risked his life to pose as Henry Gale instead of just sending one of his subordinates in.

yeah, it's becoming more obvious that Ben kept tabs on all of the main survivors over the years. Remember back in S2-3 when Ben kept coming up with facts about the survivors that would have been very hard for him to know? Well - he's had 25 years to find these people and start tracking them in real life.
And at the end of S2 when he sent a list that said "these people must come to the dock" - well, that was all the same people who he met back in the 70s.

And as far as Sayid goes - Ben has been playing him the whole time. Young ben realizes, after he recovers from the gun shot, that Sayid is a cold-blooded killer. Therefore, in the future, Old Ben takes advantage of this to get Sayid to do all of his dirty work.
of course, it's all circular, as time travel always is - Sayid shot Ben because Ben made Sayid kill people because Sayid shot Ben, etc.

I've been disappointed with how Sawyer has been acting. I know it's in order to control the narrative flow, but it seems like Sawyer is keeping way too quiet about what is going on and what their plans are. Seems to me, he should be meeting with Jack, Kate etc nightly to try to fill in all the details of the past 3 years on both sides and figure out what they should do from here on. And with Sayid, he gave up way too quickly to the other Darma guys, and did not talk with Sayid enough to explain what has been happening (didn't even explain to him the whole time travel thing)

I think part of the reason for this is because Sawyer doesn't really want to go back. He doesn't want to because all he was off the island was a conman, yet on the island that is all he really is too. But on the island he has actually established himself as someone of power, someone respected and I don't think he wants to just give that up. I think what a lot of people are forgetting is they spent 100 days on the island trying to get off, they have now spent three years on the island accepting that they would never leave.

Also - Jack and Sun so far are the only ones who wanted to come back to rescue the others. Kate came back for Sawyer, Sayid was forced back, Hurley we still don't know yet.

And as far as "Jacobs" list, I saw that coming as soon as they went back in time. Its amazing to me this season how much stuff people are taking a long time to pick up on. Previous few seasons most of you guys seemed much sharper at figuring stuff out, this season there are some serious dumb asses. I mean really, people who still think Ben, Frank and Sun are in the past... a
