Scott Walker vs Manny Pacquiao?

obviously I wish we would have won, but if we didn't I'm glad we got blown out. When you play like shit, you can just put it behind you and move on, it's the close loses that are daggers. We have shown we can respond after defeats (game 1 this series) and feed off our fans better than anyone else. The RBC Center is going to be absolutely electric on Tuesday. I cannot wait, should be, tailgating and hockey, what could be better in May?

I have family from AZ and TX visiting on Tuesday and have to eat dinner with them....fml. however, on a good note the last time they visited was may 2006, a month before we won the shiny thing.

Reporter: What do you think is going to come of the whole Scott Walker Situation?

Mo: Scotty probably has sore knuckles (wry smile)

[awkward pause]

Reporter: Right, but what about with the instigator major?

Mo: I'll probably have to sell my truck. (wry smile)

CLASSIC...and absolutely hilarious. NHL Net's On the Fly (TWC 330) if you want to check it out.

According to Claude Julien, Aaron Ward might have suffered a broken orbital bone when he was sucker-punched by Scott Walker at 17:13 of the third period.

Ward will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

i don't see how that's a "sucker punch"

ward was pushing and shoving cullen. he shoved off walker and then walker swung back.

whatever. so he dropped the gloves and ward wasn't ready, sorry. (i'm not advocating ward's injury, and as a former hurricane, i appreciate and have nothing against him)

didn't look like a dive to me, but definitely didn't look malicious. jokinen wasn't even looking when he dropped his stick. (maybe i have my hurricanes blinders on, but i think the announcers agreed with me here.)

Barry Melrose is the biggest Canes hater - he is such a sack of dog sh*t and a greaser. He is all over ESPN badmouthing the Canes and how Walker should be suspended for 5 games and it was a sucker punch supposively. He was fricken getting a hard on practically talking about the Bruins though - Canes need to win so they can also shut his fat greaser mouth up.

Melrose is def. not a Canes hater, hell he picked the Canes to win this series. He was just talking about how they played like shit tonight, which is true. I didn't hear what he had to say about Walker's punch to Ward, but I imagine he will get a game suspension. I still have a lot of respect for Aaron Ward cause he helped us win the Cup. If he's out on Tuesday we need to really take advantage.

The Canes just didn't have anything going tonight, mostly because they weren't moving they're feet. I mean I saw several times guys just standing there in the slot on defense not trying to break up a pass or push the B's around, and they were definitely loosing races to loose pucks. They need to skate hard and use their speed like I know they can and we'll be able to beat them Tuesday. I agree that a game 7 in Boston is not good for us.

GO CANES!

I like how I've had to go to the NHL section of ESPN to find the article each time the Canes have won, but the Bruins winning is right there on the front page.

Granted, it's a large media market and they're working it into their coverage of Basketball and Baseball, but still it's been kinda annoying have to shift around to find the articles until now.

last night was painful to watch. We had a serious case of road legs, we sat back on our heels in the defensive zone, couldn't maintain possession long enough in the attack zone to set anything up and then the times we did we were too timid to shoot. Did we forget that Tim Thomas gives off more rebounds than an NBA rim? We had no authority on the attack. 19 shots!? 19 freaking shots compared to 41 in Game 4. We played like shit. I'm so glad we are going back to Carolina for game 6. We have got to end it Tuesday night! Step it up boys

I know somebody mentioned this before, but I hate it that it was Aaron ward on the receiving end of Scott Walker's pissed-offedness. Why couldn't it have been Lucic, I can't stand that guy. I could've been laughing and enjoying the supposiveed sucker punch, but instead I'm just kinda meh about the whole deal.

^ I obviously do know what I am talking about - as if you heard what he had to say on Sportscenter you would say the exact same thing. Just because you pick someone to win a series doesn't mean you like them. Wow, I thought that would be obvious. It is truly funny how people get so defensive in here about their "sports knowledge".

*Note: If you have been listening to 99.9 FM the Fan even Mike and Mike touched on the harshness of his comments - I'm not the only one who thinks that.

I wish it would have been Lucic too haha.

I think Ward just assumed since he was a former Cane with a ring that no one would try to drop gloves on him.

Then he realized in a split second it was scottie walker who wasn't around in 06 and didn't give a fuck, and Pow - right in the kisser

I still don't see why people are saying he was sucker punched or that this was a cheap shot. The fight had already started, Scott grabbed his jersey, looking him in the eye, then pulled back and dropped his ass. Ward deserved it.

yeah i agree it wasn't a sucker punch. I guess people are thinking that it wasn't originally Walker's fight. He jumped in after Ward was pushing Cullen around. But still, the gloves dropped, Ward had already pushed Walker at that point. It was a clean shot.

but lol at Ward's "I want Walker!" afterwards.

I know we came out of character last night but there's only so much a team can take before they blow over. I mean, it was obvious Boston was getting away with murder all game long. Cross checks and elbows and roughing calls that weren't called all over the place. If you're up 3-0 and still want to punish a team and expect them to just take it, you're asking for it. Ward knocked down Cullen and still was going at him, Scotty took offense and punched him like he's supposed to. Ward knows Cullen is not a fighter, which is why he took him down and punched him while he was down. The moment Scotty shows up, he wants to say "No, I'm not fighting". Too bad dude. You took out Cullen so Scotty took you out. It's your fault for starting it and getting yourself knocked out. Next time dont pussy out and try to take out one of our guys you know won't do anything back to you.
