speaking of Girls...

Morning Light is almost identical to the Sonic Youth song Mote.

Just want to give a friendly reminder to you folks that Girls is playing the Cat's Cradle September 17th, which is a Saturday. The show will most likely sell out, so if you like their album, please attend.

My last few experiences at the Cat's Cradle were lovely. Of course, we did find that one tall dude always standing in front of you, but other than that, it was good times...

Why the fuck would someone have a problem with the Cradle? Other than (^) the fact that everyone who goes there is 6'5".

I, too, have noticed this.

Got the new Malkmus at CD Alley today. Less jammy than his last few, same ol' Malkmus lyrics.

Don't call it a comeback, but the new album from The Rapture is actually pretty solid.

Also, the new Field and St. Vincent are both pretty great. About time we got some solid releases this year; before Girls leaked, the only albums I remembered really enjoying from this year were the new albums from Bon Iver, James Blake, and Radiohead. The new War on Drugs was OK too, but I didn't like it as much as Wagonwheel Blues. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

Edit: Oh, WU LYF. I like that album, too.

Yeah, I'm kinda over the War on Drugs, really. Pretty good, and I don't hate it, but like's been said before, there's nothing really outstanding on that album.

^^ it's fine, but the last two albums haven't come close to the amazing heights of Wild Mountain Nation and Furr.

Yuck and smith westerns both had some pretty solid releases. between those two, wu lyf and the weekend, this has been a pretty good year for super young artists.

The first song on the new field is great stuff. It slowly goes downhill from there. The last few songs are way too repetitive.

After hating everything they've done since their debut...I finally got around to trying out the new Streets from this year, and I'm surprisingly digging it.

Just listened straight through Arcade Fire - The Suburbs and then The War On Drugs - Slave Ambient.

I discovered some weird connection between the two, I can't put my finger on it but they are like two twins separated at birth if you know what I mean.

There is a striking relation between White Cascade records and Hollywood records, but I don't know where the similarity lies. Except I know it's not monetary.

Also been looking high and low for Neon Indian, with no success. Two singles I've heard are pretty fantastic

I really like the new Future Islands song.

Elephants in that song >>>> Owls in James Blake/Bon Iver nightmare.

leaning more towards awesome now that i've had time to digest it. i'm sure he just thought to himself, "you know what would be pretty ridiculous..."

i'm sure there will be a lot of backlash from this, which is probably what he is going for. if this is a road he wants to continue going down, the next logical collaboration would have to be with lady gaga.
