I'd prolly raise the flop, you can't really get any info on their range by floating them.

what would you have done on the turn and river if he called the check-raise on the flop?

Check/fold.

Or how about you avoid the situation all together and just c-bet the flop like you're supposed to? He's most likely going to 3bet a cbet, making his limp call hand pretty obvious. You completely set yourself up for that.[Edited on December 27, 2008 at 3:42 PM. Reason : .]

I guess the thing that throws me off is that I run into so many bad players on the $.10/.25 NL tables that I don't give much respect to people. As far as I was concerned, that guy could've easily been donking off his stack with ace rag- I've seen it time and time again. I've been playing more off of feel lately and watching betting patterns. Of course I'm not always right but I'm up about $200 over the last few sessions which is pretty good for as low limits as I'm playing.

So I cashed out from Full Tilt using their direct deposit to my checking account. How long should this take to arrive?
12/29/2008 10:45:43 AM
never done direct deposit but I've had a couple checks sent to me in the mail and it took about a week
12/29/2008 1:02:31 PM
^^^^^nice cash David^^^^with a raise and all in re-raise in front of you, you have to figure you're in a coin flip AT BEST, and you had a decent chip stack (12BB's) so you really didn't need that kind of action. I usually try to stay out of coin flip situations unless I'm getting short stacked or I think there's a good chance the player will fold to my shove. But I wouldn't say it's a terrible move cause you were probably hoping the first guy would fold and you would be heads up (hopefully not against an over pair) with some dead money in the pot.[Edited on December 29, 2008 at 1:30 PM. ^^^The first time I think it took almost 3 weeks for me, but then it was usually <1 week after. PokerStars on the other hand couldn't keep up with their new echeck method and everything was delayed real bad, ended up giving everyone waiting 10% of their withdrawal for free (wish I had done my standard w/d as opposed to a $50 test )

12/29/2008 4:20:12 PM
^^^ Yeah. I thought that the first guy might call and was putting him on AK or something. With two pushers I thought he might get squeezed out. Definitely wasn't expecting the first guy to play though. Plus it was a turbo and the blinds were going up quickly so it was going to be VERY hard to pass that hand up. Plus it was a bounty so I would have gotten a little something for knocking out 88. Obviously it didn't work out but I've seen hands like that work out before... just never in my favor :/

Could use some feedback on my first crack at a "big" sit-n-go after playing mostly 1 table SnGs the past few weeks.NL Hold 'em -180 person sit-n-go, $1+0.25 buy-in (I know big spender )- 1st hour was quiet, right around my starting stack. I was card dead, and the table was loose, so I decided to wait for some hands.- After the first hour or so the table(s) had tightened up considerably. I took a stab at playing more aggressively, calling or raising ~30% of my hands (probably a 10/20 split), mostly from late position. I wanted to play more than that, but being card dead made me weary of people catching on that I was full of shit.- I managed to grow an above average stack in the mid to late stages from one particular donk that had sucked out on multiple occasions. He was also limping and raising a lot (>50%) and winning a lot of pots uncontested after the flop. More importantly, he'd been caught on a couple of occasions making a pot-sized bluff with absolutely nothing. When I was in late position, if he made a ~3x raise i called, and if he limped I'd put in a 3-4x raise. Made the play with a wide variety of hands.- Midway through... lost a huge chunk on this hand:I have around 60 BBs... late position (2 off the button), folded to me, get K-8 suited. I raise 3x the BB. Only the BB calls (stack about 1/2 of mine).Flop is Q, 8, X (small card) - rainbow. SB checks, I bet 2/3 the pot, he calls.Turn is another small card, 2 to a flush (not mine). He checks, another 2/3 bet, he calls again.River is a K. Nice. SB checks, I made a 1/4 pot bet (not sure what I was thinking, but whatever). He calls quickly, shows QQ for trips. Damn.- I ran across 2 premium hands all tournament, and one of those (QQ) netted only the blinds. Just continued to bluff here and there, including one obscene bluff against the aforementioned donk that miraculously worked. Also got downright lucky a few times, and hit enough flops to stick around.- Lost it all on this hand... Down to 29 people, top 18 cash, table still playing tight.- I have about 25 BBs... pickup AQ offsuit in the SB. UTG limps (same size stack), folds around to me. I raise 4x the BB, the BB (HUGE stack) and UTG both call.- Flop comes A, 10, 5 (2 hearts). I bet the pot, only the BB calls.- Turn is another small card, still 2 hearts. I go all-in, he calls and shows AK. River is another blanks. Out.Thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.[Edited on December 30, 2008 at 6:52 PM. Reason : p]

^First hand I'm generally checking behind on the turn, he'll probably (or at least should) lead out on the river, which, depending on the amount, I'd be calling, and hopefully just losing the minimum. (Then again I'm most likely not playing that hand to begin with other than maybe the CO or BU)Second hand is pretty standard, just a cooler.

How about some end of the year stats/graphs? Anyone? Today is my last day playing for the year so I'll post some stuff tomorrow after I get it together.

brag post here...stats for 2008:photos/00504121.jpgphotos/00504122.jpgphotos/00504123.jpgA couple of notes...I was out of work in May and part of June so I was able to play a ton of hands. I mostly 8 tabled 25nl and 50nl 6max until Mid-June and then I began to 16-24 table 25nl and 50nl full ring for most of the rest of the year. Adding on to those numbers would be ~4k in rakeback+bonuses and 1600 that I was given by FTP by mistake.I know the stakes aren't too high and I probably ought to move up but I'll take running at 9bb/100 at 25nl and 24 tabling. Maybe this year I'll be able to cash out less and move up some. 1million hands in 09?
12/31/2008 1:47:41 PM
Nice, nice.^^^^ I wouldn't be raising in that scenario to being with but like previously said you could just check the turn. It's not like there's a draw you can put him on so there's a good chance he has the Q.

I'd like some input on this one from you guys. This is one of those weird situations...I know he's probably got a big over pair or AK and I have to assume he has a diamond if he's leading out. I know I have the best hand on the flop and I know he's probably calling if I shove. However, with 2 cards to come there's a roughly 30% chance he's gonna hit the diamond and clean me out. Instead of shoving I figure I'll just call the flop and if the turn is anything other than a diamond I shove, OR, if a diamond comes on the turn, I check/fold and save my remaining $15. I'm curious what some of you would do in that situation...Full Tilt Poker Game #9790500039: Table Cumbria Iron - $0.10/$0.25 - No Limit Hold'em - 22:28:56 ET - 2008/12/31Seat 1: xWhite_Rabbitx ($9.75)Seat 2: nikedunklowpro ($20.65)Seat 3: Holundder ($36)Seat 4: xenute ($25)Seat 5: catch016 ($22.45)Seat 6: 6Ed6 ($33.35)Seat 7: beamtwu ($25)Seat 8: dasblitzen ($35.90)Seat 9: Bill66888 ($4.50)6Ed6 posts the small blind of $0.10beamtwu posts the big blind of $0.25The button is in seat #5*** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to nikedunklowpro [5d 4d]dasblitzen has 15 seconds left to actdasblitzen calls $0.25Bill66888 foldsxWhite_Rabbitx calls $0.25nikedunklowpro calls $0.25Holundder foldsxenute foldscatch016 folds6Ed6 raises to $1.50beamtwu adds $0.25beamtwu foldsdasblitzen calls $1.25xWhite_Rabbitx calls $1.25nikedunklowpro calls $1.25*** FLOP *** [Td 3d 7d]6Ed6 bets $3.25dasblitzen foldsxWhite_Rabbitx foldsnikedunklowpro has 15 seconds left to actnikedunklowpro calls $3.25*** TURN *** [Td 3d 7d] [5s]6Ed6 bets $5.75nikedunklowpro raises to $15.90, and is all in6Ed6 calls $10.15nikedunklowpro shows [5d 4d]6Ed6 shows [Qs Qh]*** RIVER *** [Td 3d 7d 5s] [Ah]nikedunklowpro shows a flush, Ten high6Ed6 shows a pair of Queensnikedunklowpro wins the pot ($42.35) with a flush, Ten high*** SUMMARY ***Total pot $44.55 | Rake $2.20Board: [Td 3d 7d 5s Ah]Seat 1: xWhite_Rabbitx folded on the FlopSeat 2: nikedunklowpro showed [5d 4d] and won ($42.35) with a flush, Ten highSeat 3: Holundder didn't bet (folded)Seat 4: xenute didn't bet (folded)Seat 5: catch016 (button) didn't bet (folded)Seat 6: 6Ed6 (small blind) showed [Qs Qh] and lost with a pair of QueensSeat 7: beamtwu (big blind) folded before the FlopSeat 8: dasblitzen folded on the FlopSeat 9: Bill66888 didn't bet (folded)[Edited on December 31, 2008 at 10:53 PM. I'd say that shoving the flop and waiting until the turn are probably about equal ev, both having their upsides (maybe I lean a bit more to how you played it). As a side note: I don't ever overlimp a suited connector from early and middle position (I would overlimp late position if more than 1 limper ahead, otherwise raise in late position)

I've had issues with having multiple accounts on FT in the past (they cleared out my whole bankroll at one point, and it took me several emails of begging to get it back), so I don't think I can start another new account and feel good about it.

They caught me trying to do that 2-3 times...Eventually I just created a new checking account and used a different name/address. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but someone told me that they have some way of knowing which computer you signed up on and are playing on (i think they said it was something in the registry, but it may be your IP). So I would install ftp and sign up on a different PC.

^^Check out 2p2 in the rakeback section, I think theres a thread about getting rb with an existing account. Also try http://www.raketherake.com, I thought I saw a link about it as well.

My 2008 MTT stats from officialpokerrankings.com :I'm pretty happy with how my game is progressing, this is definitley the year I evolved into a winning playing. I'm graduating in May, so this semester I can afford to be a bit more careless with my online money since i'll have a job shortly. So i'm planning on grinding w/o removing money weekly to see if I can get to medium stake MTTs by May or so.Live this year I also I became a winning cash game and MTT player. I won my first live MTT, and final tabled another large live MTT. In cash I played both 1/2 and 2/5 pretty well in Vegas and AC, and destroy my local .25/.50 and .5/1 game.Hopefully this year is gonna kick ass...[Edited on January 1, 2009 at 1:44 PM. I'm planning a trip to Vegas in the next few months, and wondering where I should look to be playing. I'm assuming I'll only be playing $1/$2 or maybe $2/$4. I'm probablystaying at the MGM, but it'll mostly depend on where we can find a decent deal. Also, how do comps work? Something about getting a players card and handing it to dealers each time? I doubt playing at $1/$2 will get me more than a breakfast or something, but any way to get some decent comps (possibly a room for a night)?
1/3/2009 2:33:25 PM
I play at the MGM and Mirage for the most part. It's easy to get a comp card anywhere, there will be several booths located throughout the casino usually labeled VIP or Members Club, something like that. But yeah playing 1/2 you won't see to much in the way of comps w/e massive hours. If you like tournies, hit up the Saharah, best tournaments twice nightly (6pm and 12am IIRC). Best low limit MTT ( > $100) for the value in Vegas.

I have an honest inquiry here. It seems like some of you are seriously good at what you are doing. I'd expect to see at least on a monthly basis, one of you cashing fairly large on some tourneys, I'm thinking in the 2-5k range or something, yet, I can't recall seeing it in any of the threads. What gives?
1/4/2009 2:42:58 PM
No big cashes last month but I had an 11K cash in early Nov. I don't come here to brag.Besides, the variance / standard dev for the large mtts is huge.[Edited on January 4, 2009 at 3:24 PM. Reason : ]

^^Why don't I see any of that on OPR? Not a very stellar ROI for a tourny player if that is accurate[Edited on January 4, 2009 at 3:55 PM. Reason : .]

Don't you have to know someone's screen name to use that site?
1/4/2009 3:56:31 PM
Just basing it on what you post here, what would be the point of multi-accounting when you are playing on david0603 every Sunday?
1/4/2009 3:57:49 PM
I only have one account on each site but I play more than just PS and FT. I just decided to only post those sites since they are the most popular here.
