Tyler Lewis tweeted some guy is decommiting from USC and coming to State.

Maybe not, I don't know how to work these twitter things.

Still says so much about the recruiting abilities of our current and past coach to have these great recruits considering us, since we've been a bottom-third team in the ACC for so many years. Just imagine how great they could recruit if we actually won games.

@GSwaim getting word from our #NCState reporter that Pack going nother way on Purvis, knowing they're out of picture.

Sad if true. He could be a program changer.

And as far as Swaim, he was the one saying that Sean Miller to State was a done deal...and then last week was saying that Miller to MD was a done deal. Just trolling for followers...

Virtually all local sports reporters (who have twitter accounts, anyways) absolutely shat on gswaim after about the 3rd time during the coaching search where he made some bold claim and was just 100% wrong. Then he started complaining about Yow, saying she must have been the reason all of his previous predictions fell through. That man (whoever he is) is absolutely pathetic.

that info was from a U of L website. they were talking about something to do with the baseball team before the info on Purvis. then the writer started talking about how creepy the world of recruiting is, and twitter, and some other bullshit. i don't know why i included that part of the quote

^how about his website? what a joke

Tweeted today by PI:

Quote :
"Torian Graham (2012- 5 star - SG) is on NC State campus right now. Hearing he may be meeting with the coaches as well.. Big news coming?"

Haven't seen any mention of his visiting on any other site...so no clue if any of this is true. But you gotta love the deceiving optimism from the tweet...he may be meeting with coaches. And big news coming?...or maybe not. No one has any clue. But PI makes sure to put their own spin on it.

while we're speculating, i heard (from some random dude on PP) that purvis wants to play with graham (even though they would possible compete for the same position), and lewis is good friends with rodney and recruiting him hard. and tj warren, who's high on us and who's father player here, goes to wog with torian. but then this greg swaim guy says that we're out of it with purvis. but graham could possibly be visiting right now?!?

^^To be fair, Purvis did tweet "I want to be college teammates with @TorianG4 & @iAMrick_32 !!!" (toriang4 is Torian Graham). However, I think that was a "wouldn't it be awesome if..." things rather than "I'm going wherever they go".

As for the Lewis/Purvis thing, the following is a quote from Tyler Lewis:
Quote :
"In my opinion, I really think that Rodney Purvis will end up at NC State. He texted me right after he de-committed from Louisville and told me that 'we could be teammates.' Then I called him and we just started talking about it. I really think he will probably end up at NC State.
I'm also trying to get Andrew White and TJ Warren to come to NC State. I'm really close with both of them. Andrew plays on my AAU team. TJ and I have known each other since the 8th grade. We're really good friends and we talk a lot."

Granted, this definitely does not mean Purvis is committing to State. The quote was from an article on PackInsider...generally, I'm not a fan of PI but I figured they'd be reliable for a direct quote.

i'm just having fun, it's all speculation at this point.

I'm just happy we've got some elite 2012ers even considering/listing us right now. That's good news.

Torian Graham is good: [link]http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQObZvsGGKs&feature=related[/link]

^You're definitely right about the speculation...I'm just hoping some of it turns out to be true.

We're being mentioned with several elite guys...but no big men, that I know of. And forward/center is a glaring weakness. I'm sure the staff is on top of it, but I just find it interesting that we aren't being mentioned with any big men. Uchebo's decommitment hurt, assuming he was going to be able to qualify. We are thing down low.

After this last year, I've become so jaded by mixtapes. Especially with 5 star recruits, they're men among boys at the high school level, and can get away with nearly anything. Before the season, most fans thought of Lorenzo as secondary to Ryan or CJL, largely because of mixtapes I'd presume, and that completely flipped for a lot of people as the season went on.

The only time I've ever seen a "mixtape play" live was Lorenzo's monster dunk against Georgetown.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-Ihqi91Xq0

Goddamn that was nuts.

I'm not denying that they were idiots. I'm talking about the average fan (SWC, PP) who far outnumber anyone who talks about NC State basketball with any sort of logic/reason. Overall, there was far more hype around Ryan and CJL than Lorenzo.

Lorenzo Brown has a youtube video from a game against Pfeiffer while he was at Hargrave. The comment from a guy on the other team:

Quote :
"its funny how everyone how these were h only two plays from? the game put up. how bout someone call lerenzo and ask him how many 33 dropped on him. oh ya thats me levi i dropped 18 to his 6 hha funny"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_E-_OMxlOdw

#33 comes into the frame twice, and he's so mad he can't dunk like Zo

You can't really take Purvis RTs as meaning anything because he'll go and RT like 4 tweets at once - one from a louisville fan, one from a state fan, one from a duke fan, and one from a kentucky fan.

kinda sad too...

Quote :
"NC State picks up second 2010 commit

Ryan Harrow had only one goal in mind when he went to visit North Carolina State today.

The rising junior point guard committed to NC State on Monday, a day later than planned, joining forward C.J. Leslie as Class of 2010 commitments for the Wolfpack.

Harrow met with NC State coach Sidney Lowe this morning, and was joined by his mother, Fern Harrow, and his brother-in-law Erasto Hatchett, who is the assistant coach at the Concord (N.C.) Cannon School, where Harrow attended for three years before transferring to Marietta (Ga.) Walton High last January.

Once Harrow got the go-ahead from Coach Lowe and his mother to commit, the decision was easy.

"The big thing I like is Coach Lowe," Harrow said. "He's played in the NBA and coached in the NBA, and now he's coaching in college. He can make me an NBA point guard if I get that far."

Harrow admittedly has wanted to commit to NC State ever since attending the elite camp June 11-12. He also previously attended a UNC at NC State home game, and has been on the Wolfpack radar over the last year. The recruitment started to heat up after he impressed the NCSU coaches at the elite camp, getting the attention of Lowe in particular.

"I just like the school and I like Coach Lowe," Harrow said. "When I went there for the elite camp, I liked the team. They were cool, The assistant coaches, campus and facilities were nice. I like that I can go to the practice facility and work on my game at any time." (Lee Fowler just creamed his pants over hearing a recruit mention our facilities as one of the reasons why he came here)

The 6-foot, 150-pound Harrow is currently unranked by Rivals.com, but is coming off a solid showing at the GBOA South tournament in Norcross, Ga. He also played well in the Kingswood Classic in April and the Wallace Prather Memorial in May. He'll be playing this summer with Louis Williams Elite, playing some with the 16s and 17s.

Harrow received his first offer from UT-Chattanooga, and Auburn also offered. He received interest from Clemson, Kentucky, Wake Forest, Florida, Texas, Marquette, Cincinnati, Davidson, St. John's and Tennessee. (those are some good bball schools)

"NC State was the biggest school on me and they were coming at me the hardest," Harrow said. "They were talking to me and calling me, and I called them. My dream since I was little was to play in the ACC. The best conference to play in is the ACC." (I think he'll understand the importance of the Tobacco Road rivalries and what they mean to the fanbase since he lived in NC for so long)

Harrow will officially sign with NC State during the 2009 November signing period.
"

^^ Why do you say that? TJ's father Tony played at State in the 70s, and he has admitted in the past to growing up a Wolfpack fan. I know TJ will end up going wherever he ultimately feels most comfortable, but I think we have a great shot at him, regardless of whether any big time programs come offering or not.

Here's a picture of his father, #24, and Hawkeye Whitney, #43, in action in Reynolds Coliseum.

It sounds like Tyler Harris got to work out with George Gervin*. Yes, The Iceman himself.**

*I assume it's him because Tyler is in San Antonio right now.
**I didn't know where to post this since we don't have an official thread for next season.

Cool fact from his wiki

Quote :
"[Gervin's] first scoring crown came in 1978, when he narrowly edged David Thompson for the scoring title by seven hundredths of a point (27.22 to 27.15). Although Thompson came up with a memorable performance for the last game of the regular season, scoring 73 points, Gervin maintained his slight lead by scoring 63 points (including an NBA-record at the time 33 points in the second quarter) in a loss in his last game of the season. With the scoring crown in hand, he sat out some of the third, and all of the fourth quarter."

^^^ I would kill to see a big game in a packed Reynolds Coliseum.

I feel like with the work the new staff is doing on the recruiting trail to get some top high schoolers interested in State, and the work Tyler Lewis is apparently doing, we'll be able to get at least one of these guys we're going after. Getting 2 out of the Purvis/Warren/Graham recruits would be huge.
