geez...i dunno what dermatologist my mom is going to, but they suck. when she had her basal cell removed there was a squamous cell there that the derm didn't even detect. this makes two times this derm didn't see something.

it's very simple...but i'll spell if out for you.

my mom had some moles that her dermatologist said she should have removed after they did a biopsy and scan as they were shown to be basal cell carcinoma. during the removal of that mole and cancer cells (on her back), the surgeon questioned why the dermatologist didn't scan & do a biopsy on two other moles nearby. she did a biopsy while there--turns out they were also basal cell. she had those removed.

she also had basal cells turn up on a place on her chest. she was having those removed today. AGAIN the surgeon found MORE cancer cells that the dermatologist didn't detect from the first biopsy and scan. this time these cells were squamous cell carcinoma which is a bit more serious form of skin cancer as it can show up again.

this makes TWO times that the dermatologist missed possible problems areas that the surgeon then discovered. from here on out she's going to a new dermatologist.
