this kind of crap is becoming standard on FT for me every time I get in a good position to double up mid to late in a MTT. only a $3 tourney but final table would have paid out pretty nice...

I see that play a ton. It's even worse when the high card on the flop is an A. It's fine to make that play with over cards on the board, but with AKQ out there I always steer clear.

It sucks but that was a very +EV play after the flop. You're folding AK, AQ, AJ... maybe even a low pocket pair.

^^^^ I may have bet a little more on the flop, like 1200ish to show a bit more strength with a made hand in a 3way pot.

Oh, you played it fine. I was just saying that is a pretty standard play for a pocket pair when you don't have enough chips to se tmine.

headed to vegas friday for the super bowl and state-carolina game. might sneak in a little poker too.

Look what my buddy Justin did last month for god's sake. NC State grad, used to play this guy in $5 heads up matches every night in '02... kid didnt have $100 to his name probably now he's got a million jesus. I think this one i televised someone give me a heads up if they see when it will be on tv.

He was mad cause he had a big chip lead when it got down to three people.... i dont think i could be too mad on a $1 million cash.

I really wonder what to do in these spots, would love some input:
FWIW villain is running like 27/23/5.0 and raising fairly liberally, so i'll show my perception of his raising/3b flatting range in pokerstove below...

So heres my line of thinking after I looked at the equities against his my version of his perceived range that would flat a 3b pre. I want to get it in, this is an obv play for stacks, but what is the best line? I raise flop and its gunky in terms of stacking, but I wan't to atleast set it for a PSB jam on the turn...

I hate situations like this...

3 clubs on the board, I've got bottom 2 pair, he called my check raise on the flop...

what to do??? I figure he would've shoved with 33, 44, 55, AcKc, AcQc, or AcJc on the flop, so I disregarded those hands, putting him on either AK, AQ, or AJ with a club, maybe even AA, KK, QQ, or JJ (again assuming he has a club). Villian is pretty loose so I know he's calling any bet I put out there w/ his flush and/or straight draw except for an all in bet. Do you value bet here or shove???

I fire 3/4 pot or so, most likely fold to a re-raise.

Likewise, if he calls I probably reevaluate the river, if it's a non 4 flush card i'll check/call for pot control.

No way, you cannot ever fold pocket aces. No matter what the board is. Never.

Remember when we played with Colin and those guys and they could never fold QQ or KK even with an ace on the board? Good times.

Yes I do. I remember one hand with Turner, myself and Collin, where Collin calls in early position, and Turner raised on the button. I looked down at AA, and looking to trap (which I never do with AA), just called. Collin also calls behind me. Well, the flop is like A 10 x rainbow, so I flop top set. Turner fires, and me, hoping to God he has AK or something, just calls, as does Collin. The turn is a blank, and Turner once again fires at the pot. I once again just call, as does Collin (perhaps the biggest calling station I have ever known. The river is a K, so I still have top set with only one hand that can beat me. Turner once again fires a huge bet, and I immediately push all-in. Collin goes in the tank for a LONG time, and finally calls. Turner then pushes all-in (he had me covered) and Collin, feeling pot-committed (he feels this way if he has the small blind in) calls also. Well of course Turner had been raising the whole way with QJ offsuit and hit his gutshot on the river. I muck my cards, cursing myself for slow playing. Collin flips over A4 (there was no 4 on the board) and starts complaining about the bad beat.

I remember Collin complaining about the bad beat. I never showed my hand, but he kept saying how he "knew he had me beat" but had a feeling Turner got lucky on the river. Little did he know he was drawing dead after the flop. Looking back, I am not too upset about how I played that. I am usually really aggressive when I am ahead, but if I am gonna slow play, I will accept that kind of risk.

Kudos, there's nothing wrong with taking a sabbatical from poker. I have done it twice, once IRL and once online because no matter what I did, I kept taking bad beats. I do think your time period is a little long, but whatever floats your boat. I know it's easy for people to say "it's just random variation in statistics" but for me, I am a very emotional and results oriented person, and I hate getting ridiculous beats put down on me time after time.

I don't specifically remember throwing things, but I am sure I did. Poker is one of those things that I really get emotional about... one of the ONLY things. The only thing that even comes close is watching the Patriots play.

I do remember Nitro throwing a soda can once because Steve wouldn't fold his pocket aces after the flop. That was funny.
