^^i agree, you have unsuited Q & 5 why would you match a raise that was triple your bet. plus again why would you go all in on a pair of queens.

seriously if you are going to complain about some one sucking out on you, may you should have a really good hand to be pissed of about first

pair of queens

Ok... look. Sit and go. I was SB. I called. He min-raised. I called. Flop comes out. Is top pair not usually a decent hand 3-handed? I was under the impression that it was. His bet was so large that I was 90% sure he was just trying to take the pot down without a fight so I called. He has absolutely nothing, hits running flush cards, and crushes me. It's not that bad of a play so get your heads out of your asses.

You're supposed to play the player and not the cards and I made the right play so yall can fuck off.

No i think you play the cards.

you have 1000 or so in and then he bumps it up 5,000 when he goes all in. true he could be bluff (which he was) but there are too many possiblities that can beat you (he could have 2 pair, 3 of a kind, straight draw, flush draw)

i just think the smart move would let him get a way with a stupid bluff and then nail him when you have a made hand

how do you ever expect to win that hand by limp calling a raise oop? that is the complete opposite of optimal preflop play

Where in any of this were you right about how you played the hand?

The only thing I see that was done right was betting that flop.

Raising/folding your SB is generally optimal play when it's folded to you but mixing it up with a limp every now and then isn't the worst play ever. Then calling a minraise at that point is better than folding/reraising so wtf, make the best out of a bad situation.

Checkraising TPNK is kinda bad because you only get action from hands that have you beat or big draws. Leading is okay but the decision to call the overshove is marginal, it's all read dependent. It's possible that a guy playing J2o in this manner has done something earlier in the tournament($1 sng should also factor into your read) to lead us to believe we just induced a spew. I don't think I would have called but whatever, he was right and got fucked by runners.

I've seen much worse hands posted in here from a wtf is the hero thinking perspective.

yall need to stop making decisions in a vacuum...that is all.. bye

i don't mind calling the minriaise once you called the big blind...you made a good call on the flop and got sucked out on.... it happens

i just feel like posting another bad beat (live game) so you guys will feel sorry for me.

so i play once or twice a year with some guys from work in their monthly game. its a tournament with a decent structure. i go to the game half for the cards and the other half to socialize with co workers.

were halfway through the tournament and i have about 6.5k in chips with the blinds at 400/800. it folds to me on the button and i have KK. bing. i raise to 2.1k and was planning on calling all in if one of the blinds shoved OR pushing all in on the flop. pretty standard.

the SB folds and the BB goes into the tank. he has 5.5 in chips and is still sitting contemplating. i get irritated because he is taking forever and tell him calling is the wrong move and to go ahead and push because i may fold. i think this made him just flat call. awesome.

i deal and bring a flop of 8d, 5d, and 10c. SB checks and i go all in. he instantly calls. i immediately put him on either 55 or 88. i was wrong....he flips Qd4d. i was like seriously? turn blank...river flush.

i went nuts here. i think i have the right to say something considering he called almost half his stack with qd4d. here was his logic: if i hit a queen im good or if i hit diamonds im good. if i miss the flop i fold.

this play makes no sense. he essentially is leaving it to chance to hit the flop and he doesnt even consider making a play. i know everyone says you want players to make this call, but it seems that every live tournament i have played in i get outed with some hand like this.

i second feeble minded's thoughts on having poker being one of the few things i get overly emotional about. no clue why either.

either way, i am hoping things turn around eventually.

again, gl to everyone still playing.

There are some people who will never ever fold a flush draw. They think they are making the right play, and the really sad thing is they don't even realize how stupid they are. Very sad.

^figured I had good fold equity and most likely the best hand, plus blinds were getting outrageous and I had less than 10 BB's left

I mean do you really fold there??? I routinely watch some of the best online players in the world shove with far less quality hands in that position

what are the odds of running into AA when you have KK? this doesn't seem like it should be very common, but I've had this happen twice in the last 3 hours of playing. It's going to end up costing me another new screen if it happens again. FUCK.

Well the odds of getting KK is 1/220, and thus the odds of your opponent getting KK is only slightly lower, about 1/204. Obviously if you were heads up, the odds would be a simple multiplication of (1/220)*(1/204)= about 1/45,000.

The odds obviously go up as the number of people in the hands increases. i could have done this problem 3 years ago. But now I can't.
