I'm confused by that statement.

She's saying... if you're so emotionally drawn to another person, your "work spouse" to say, that the only reason you aren't in a real relationship with your work spouse is because you are committed to other people, then that is too far. Cheating can be an emotional thing too.

I mean that's the reason you're not in a relationship with anyone else...not just your "work spouse"

Yeah, exactly... but the point is, these people at work have an emotional connection that would otherwise lead to a relationship. Just because you're at work, doesn't make it right. Now, I could be reading more into that person's post, but I think that's the gist of what she was saying.

That's exactly what I meant

I just don't understand why it's almost treated like its ok just because it's a coworker.

Totally agree. I'm kind of freaked out by the idea of a work spouse in general.

My old boss claimed my previous boss was her work spouse and it felt like it was a little more than just friends, there was definitely something between them, and they are both "happily" married. It was strange to me. I had never heard of the term before them.

I had a classmate, who after graduation, introduced herself to another classmate's wife as his "school spouse". Needless to say, real wife was not pleased at all, and the rest of us just thought she was awkward and attention seeking.

I understand the concept of a work spouse, but I've always considered it more of like a work BFF.

I totally had a work BFF, who just happened to be a dude.

it's OK not to like me, and I would encourage anyone to express their opinion freely and publicly, without fear of retaliation or disapproval.

I don't like EMCE but that's because he promised he'd take me out for ice cream once and it never happened.

Then I found out he offers all the ladies ice cream. I don't joke when it comes to ice cream.

yeah, I don't think anyone can take settledown seriously anymore. However, I don't think he would mock someone for losing a child. He couldn't possibly be that evil. But considering the thread was in chit chat, I don't know if I would risk it either.

*I've never been pregnant or lost a child.

I've known settledown for years... he's never hesitated to come through in the clutch whenever I've needed him to.
