It's way too late for that. Someone might glance over a tape and give an impression, but he won't be rated against other players in his class. Even if he was, there wouldn't be any significant increase and class rankings don't really matter this late in the game. Once the freshmen hit campus, it's just about results.5/19/2011 2:36:02 AM |

even if he was ranked a top50 player, i still don't think it'd be enough to get our 2011 class in the top25. 2012 is where it's at. 5/19/2011 9:47:15 AM |

I think Hodge works better as a friend to the program.
What he could say, do and most importantly tweet would be severely limited if he worked with the team in any official capacity. 5/19/2011 10:59:47 AM |

My tell is that I'll generally avoid profanity when I'm trying to make a valid point.
And I'm completely serious that I think Hodge isn't a good fit for the staff right now. Maybe in a few years when he matures a bit, but he still seems too buddy buddy with players at this point that I'm not sure he'd be able to have any sense of control over them. 5/19/2011 11:45:22 AM |

I'd just be worried he would tweet some CJ Leslie "anti-gay" type shit (or worse) and bring on some bad publicity to the team.
I love Hodge, but that guy is unpredictable. 5/19/2011 11:46:54 AM |

well he has been in the league, was selected in the first round of the draft and played in the NCAA tourney. So he's got plenty of good experiences that he can teach the players, and since he's young, he can relate to them.
I'm not saying I want him on our staff, but I'm not saying I dont want him on it either. 5/19/2011 11:54:39 AM |

Head of the summer camp ... that's what he needs to be "on staff" to do.

He's in the perfect position now. Talk to the players, joke around, play ball with them, then step aside and let the real coaches run the practices and game prep.
I love Julius Hodge, but less than two years ago he was kicked out of a game for stomping on the court and generally acting like a spoiled whine baby brat. He's far from being ready to lead anyone. 5/19/2011 11:58:53 AM |

Also SF is dead on correct about Hodge and the team. The role he serves now is gold and cannot be replaced. Hiring him on staff would be a mistake. One day though, I see him as a top flight recruiter somewhere.

Quote : | "16. May 16: The first recruit to commit to Mark Gottfried at N.C. State is a huge one: Five-star shooting guard Torian Graham, the No. 25 overall player in the Class of 2012. He passed on Florida State and Kentucky, and is the second-highest rated recruit committed to any ACC school (after Duke-bound Rasheed Sulaimon) from that class. Reverberations: N.C. State fans have already started to feel better about the Gottfried hire, which initially drew a tepid reaction. Graham believes the Wolfpack can finish with a loaded 2012 class, and has taken it upon himself to start recruiting other elite, in-state players -- the primary target being Rodney Purvis, who could join him in a backcourt that would rival anything at Duke or North Carolina.

lol who the fuck cares?
when did using swear words become so taboo ? did i miss a memo ?
and by that i mean .... so taboo to the point where a recruit (ie kid) would turn down Duke because coach has a potty mouth.

he said the generally reserved coach you see on the sideline during games transforms into a maniacal curse monger during practice, to the point where he breaks you down. must be the Army influence.
