I just finally saw it today (I've been on vacation). Overall, I really liked it. I didn't see much of the supposed "bad acting." Sure, some lines between the two lovers were corny as hell and made me laugh (though honestly that's probably rather realistic). Other than that, though, I thought Christensen was great. Much better this time around. As many others have said, they did the transformation battle right.

I liked the outcome of the fight between Palpatine and Yoda, but I thought having them clash lightsabers was a bit silly. In fact, giving Palpatine a lightsaber at all was a mistake in my opinion. He used it well against Mace and company, though.

Some (well, most) of the battles were too CGI and too colorful. CGI clone troopers don't match up to real dudes in plastic armor.

so basically there are two sure ways to stop somebody in the star wars universe:

1) if they use a lightsabre, cut off their arms*

2) push them down a really deep hole that happens to be on every spacecraft in the galaxy

*having dooku's and mace windu's hands cut off really cheapened the whole anakin/luke father/son both getting their hands cut off thing the series had going

It's odd that Obi Wan left only his mechanical hand in tact. Especially since that was his saberin' hand.

you forgot Luke - Vader

and it should be Vader - Luke not Anakin- Luke

so the word love is in there somewhere, or is it live?!?!?!

so now with the hands, it seems like they always have to use their hands to use the force.

example: closing doors, choking bitches, throwing projectiles, stopping projectiles, so if you take the hands off are the forceless? i don't remember but when luke lifts the x-wing does he use his hands?

oh yeah

and that totally ruined the father/son cut off hand things too

b/c both of anakin's hands were cutoff, not just the right one like we all thought

we were led to believe that luke was fulfilling some fucked up birthright by having his right hand cutoff but apparently not so

damn these prequels and ruining the cool things about the original movies

Quote :

but they don't need their hands to use the force, especially if they can have robotic hands and still do stuff

^^ chopping hands off doesn't make a difference.

Luke and Anakin/Vader were able to use the force with prosthetic limbs.

"He's more machine now than man"

I think a lot of people always assumed that Vader had mechanical limbs. If you look at some of the EU published around that time (which of course makes no sense now), Luke keeps hacking off Vader's limbs but they keep coming back for some odd reason .

Plus that fake fan-script of Episode III that was running around for years implied that all of Vader's limbs were mechanical (again, keeping with the whole "more machine than man" theme).

I never thought either of Vader's hands were flesh. I couldn't care less that Dooku and Mace's hands were cut off. Amputations are the norm with lightsabers.

Didn't Anakin's lightsaber get chopped in half in the droid factory in ATTACK OF THE CLONES? Not much history if it starts after his being a lovesick puppy.

In A NEW HOPE there's definitely blood from a lightsaber wound in the Mos Eisley cantina.

when watching the original trilogy, I have more respect for Obi Wan's character now.

I mean, that old man in the movies went through a lot of shit that you dont know about, and then lets himself die.

He: pwnt darth Maul
almost got eaten by a big six legged thing in a stadium
got pwnt by dooku, twice
faced this big ass mechanical droid weilding four lightsabers

the list goes on.....he's by far my favorite character in the series

i missed what yoda was tellin obi wan at the end about qui gon and immortality...was that somethin about being able to talk to people after "death"? like how obi wan keeps giving advice to luke after he dies in the original series? if so, why isnt qui gon givin some advice to anakin and obi wan?

^^this is explained much better in the book. There's actually a small sequence with yoda talking to qui-gon (through meditation or otherwise i can't remember, i'd have to look it up), but this was likely excluded from the movie after liam neeson refused to be in any more star wars movies.

Beleive it or not, it actually enhanced it. Think of the two trilogies as a father's story and a son's story. They face the same situations, but the father makes the wrong choices and the son makes the right choices.

Look at Anakin's fight with Dooku on the Trade Federation cruiser and Luke's fight with Vader aboard the Death Star. Both are nearly identical: A young Jedi, wearing nearly the same outfit, faces a Sith Lord aboard a space ship (station) with the same battle raging outside with the same TIE Fighter sound effects, in the presence of Palpatine (who is the Dark Lord of the Sith in both of these scenarios), who sits in the same damn chair!

The young Jedi in both scenarios disable their opponents and are goaded by Palpatine to finish their foes, in the hopes of making the young Jedi the new Sith Lord. However, whereas Anakin succumbs to Darth Sidious' goading, Luke does not.

Similarly, in the Chancellor's office, Anakin faces a dilemma much like he did in Ep VI: He must choose between the Dark Side or the Light Side, and unlike his redemption in Ep VI, he decides to side with Palpatine in Ep III.

Anyone else notice that when Anakin and Obiwan rescue palpatine obiwan says "Wait a minute were smarter than this."

It is my opinion that palpatine was manipulating them to run into the ray shields.

OK, well, to change gears slightly, I really can't understand why out of all the action figures, there are so few Clone Troopers which were actually SEEN in the movie. There's not a single Commander Cody figure or figures of any of the soldiers in his battalion. Out of all of the commanders, only Bacara has a figure so far, and if you blink you miss him shooting Ki-Adi-Mundi. There's a potential for a LOT of Clone Trooper variations, and yet there are currently about zippo. I want more Clone Troopers, dammit! Clone Troopers seem infinitely more badassed than Stormtroopers.

Here's my little Clone Army on my desk right now.

Even the red Clone Commander, which I have to say is the most badassed Star Wars figure of all time, didn't even appear in the movie. (Commander Bly, who killed Ayla Secura, is actually yellow, not red.)

These have been a hell of a lot of fun to find, as I started hunting for them the first day they came out. The Clone Trooper with the red markings was a nightmare, as it is exclusive to Target stores only. Although the AT-TE Gunner is supposed to be carried everywhere, I still have not seen another one since I got my first 2. I've never done this before, but this time around I've decided to buy 2 of each so that I could open one and keep one in the package. (The Target Clone Trooper was apparently limited to 50,000.) I just want more of the different battalion colors and more commanders.

Not sure if anyone has asked this yet, but---

Anyone know what scene MON MOTHMA(old lady rebel leader in ROTJ that goes over the whole attack endor plan) is in? She's credited in the movie, and I'm assuming she probably looks younger, but I didn't see her!

By the way in ancient wars involving swords and such limbs got cut off often.

I think its realistic to see everyone getting hacked left and right since their essentially sword fighting.

** as a side note, the connection between father and son, if any, wouldn't be that they both lost their arm but rather that Luke began to give up his humanity because of his feelings just like his father.

Yes, she was in a scene with other Senators (including Bail Organa) in which they begin to form the first traces of the Rebel Alliance. Unfortunately, the scene was left on the cutting room floor. It may show up again on the DVD, I hope. The only other place I saw her was when Palpatine is returned to the Senate building after being rescued. She's in the crowd of people who greet him. It's another "blink and you missed it" Star Wars moment. LOL.

By the way, here's some pics I've found of the different clone commanders. Many are from the Visual Dictionary. There are still several other "named" clones which I don't have confirmed pics of yet.

Commander Cody

Commander Bly

Commander Bacara

Commander Gree

Commander Neyo

I love the way most of these look. They had BETTER put out some damn figures of them. So far, Bacara's the only one definitely on the way.

It does kinda make me wonder why Palpatine had all of the colors and distinguishing features removed from the armor, though. I guess the lack of distinction makes the Stormtroopers a bit more harsh.
