While a .22 lacks the stopping power of some of the higher caliber weapons, it will work consistently enough to stop zombies that this minor drawback can be ignored in favor of its many advantages: range, accuracy, availability of ammunition, simplicity, and general versatility.11/2/2006 5:58:10 PM |

yeah the .22 doesn't have the power, a lot of the time, to exit the skull
so instead it kind of flips around in there scrambling shit up 11/2/2006 6:40:50 PM |

The important thing is to disable motor and/or sensory function; midbrain kills are a bonus. Basically, anything that would brainkill a normal human will kill a zombie. 11/2/2006 9:55:09 PM |

Biggest thing has to be the weight of the ammo. Makes the .22 a must.11/2/2006 10:07:03 PM |

Hey guys, this is me down in Ecuador. Well, recently I have been eating cuy, fried guinea pig. I had the opportunity to eat its brain. Let me tell you--BRAINS TASTE LIKE MELTED CHEESE. I had to do it to research the enemy.
What do you say? Ecuadorian cheese is pretty bad so we might have to head to frigid Wisconsin. My girl gringa down here says that´s where the diary´s at. 11/14/2006 6:43:26 PM |

I say South America does not have a chance with a zombie invasion. You guys don´t know about the mega metropolises. I can´t imagine Quito in a zombie invasion. Spanish speaking Zombies.

for a melee weapon, i think i would prefer an aluminum baseball bat over anything with an edge (machete, sword, whatever). unless you're good at decapitations, there's some time lost trying to remove your blade from the festering skull of the undead--whereas with a baseball bat, it makes a nice PING! and rolls right off. 11/15/2006 6:11:48 AM |

an aluminum baseball bat, while effective, would eventually break
go with a crowbar it's a multi-tasker

This is my favorite thread on the wolfweb for it's its shear sheer silliness seriousness in preparing for the zombie threat inevitable worldwide zombie outbreak.
For a melee weapon against zombies, I think I'd want something like a snow shovel. Broad, flat head that can either slice or broadside them, and longer than a baseball bat, so I don't have to get within arm's length and risk being bitten. But judging from the movies, if you're within melee range of the zombies, chances are you've already lost. 11/18/2006 11:44:38 AM |

a shovel might not be too bad, but it would be a bitch to carry around with you. a crowbar would also be handy in that you could use it to pry open or smash shit, but the range isn't effective and it's also pretty heavy. 11/18/2006 1:30:36 PM |

I read World War Z last week and I was very pleased with it, although he makes a few errors -- they'll rot faster than he describes, they probably won't come back from freezing, and they certainly won't live in droves at the bottom of the ocean.

Ahahaha, I remember that stuff. It's not so bad (beats the hell out of llama, anyway ). Didn't get to chomp on some brains, though.

For those of us in less-than-great shape, a heavy weapon is asking to get killed. A tamping iron will smash the brains of every zombie on the planet without being damaged in the least, but I don't think I could consistently and effectively wield one.
Obviously the best plan is to have more than one weapon on you, where feasible. Obviously the ideal would be some sort of firearm, followed by a heavy-duty, longer-reaching melee weapon, followed by the nitty-gritty: a crowbar or machete.
I'll reiterate, though, if you are ever in a situation where you have to kill a zombie, you've probably done something wrong.11/18/2006 11:38:09 PM |

semi-auto is all you really need
auto is just going to waste your ammo and pretty much fail to get a headshot
I'd want a folding stock too so I could be accurate at a greater distance 11/19/2006 1:41:09 AM |
