yeah...why waste an entire episode on 2 characters who have hardly been on the show? Definitely a "filler" episode.

I kinda liked tonight's episode. Yeah, it may have been filler, but If you're a true Lost aficionado, it was the kind of filler you live for.

Then again if you're all "Let's hurry up and get some answers" I can see where you would hate it. I guess tonight's episode really just put a wedge in between the crack between the two segments of viewers and split them further apart.

Does anyone know if they originally shot all of these scenes with paulo and nikki from season 1 and season 2 during the actual filming of those seasons, or did they go back and re-shoot everything to fit these two people in? It seems like a lot of work either way for a storyline that doesn't really have anything to do with the island or affect the other characters. I'm assuming they filmed it back in season 1 and season 2 and just waited to tell the story until now. Pretty pointless episode/storyline.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. The amount of shit that was in the plane crash scene alone would have been almost impossible to replicate, much less expensive as FUCK (even for a big budget show like Lost) But She looked too "into" the scene to be Blue Screen. If she was "CGIed" in they did a hell of a job.

I thought the episode was very good. Old school return to the plane crash. Links to all sections of the show: the underwater packages, the science teacher before and after death, the monster, The Pearl, Sun's kidnapping, Desmond's premonitions, etc. And the whole story with the diamonds and spiders and betrayal and buried alive was well-written and well-integraged into the story.

FYI: the guy that played Arzt plays a gay guy in that Norm McDonald show " A Minute with Stan Hooper"

The DVD of the whole series was 4 dollars at FYE.

Worst 4 dollars I ever spent.

I don't understand why people can't enjoy a standalone episode without getting answers. The X-files did it all the time, you had 4 or 5 episodes a season that were part of the big conspiracy story arc, but most episodes were monster of the week stories. Here most episodes give answers but whenever there is one like this people freak out (although Sun finally found out about what Charlie and Sawyer did, we saw Ben and Juliette plotting to capture Saywer, Kate and Jack, and horray they more than likely killed of Niki and Paulo). I was satisfied with the episode.

I particularly liked this episode. I don't think they are going to be 'rising' from the grave. I thought for a second that they were but it explains why the dog pulled the blanket of off them. Maybe he still knew that they were alive.

I read earlier in the week that they were not going to come back to the others camp for 5 episodes so kinda knew it was going to be a meanwhile back on the beach episode. I'd expect a few more of those if the article was correct.

I hope they're not dead! Nikki is HOT! But yeah, I think they're dead. You can't really stand up when 4-5 ft of dirt/sand is on top of you. This was a great episode IMO. It was cool to see a lot of things from the past through a different perspective. Not to mention getting to see old characters like Boone, etc.

Good episode!

Well next week is a Kate episode... so it won't be a "back at the beach episode" although we might not have major revelations like in The Man From Tallahassee. Anyway, looks like the previews was a cat-fight between Kate and Juliette, it was very short.

oh cmon man, there were so many things bad about this episode w/out even mentioning the cliched plot that has been done on 100 other tv shows

if this was about any one of the characters we had been introduced to before this season, even one of the new others, ok.

but they just threw these 2 characters in for no reason except to get more filler eps.

i mean, this was a recap show. period. it went back and revisited old crap we had ever seen. the only plot element even remotely involving main characters was the whole charlie/sawyer/sun thing.

i am usually the first to defend episodes against the people who always say how bad every episode was, but there were zero redeeming qualities to this episode.

AND they play that music at the end to make us think they are still alive which, if true, would be the single most ridiculous thing to happen on this show. and w/ locke saying "things dont stay buried blah blah blah" it very well may be true.

oh and the other thing it showed was that the science teacher guy knows WAYYYY too much science for a junior high science teacher. where did he teach, fucking Harvard Junior High or something??

but it was a recap show and a tool to kill off two characters who really had no point to being introduced in the first place.

"The X-files did it all the time"

the difference is that the X-Files stand alone monster of the week episodes were actually fun and interesting--i can dvr an x-file episode from any season and not have to worry about being caught up on what's going on. and there's only 2 main characters on the X-Files...and all the other characters are mysterious enough to keep interest

the only mysterious and interesting thing about LOST is the island and thus all of LOST's stand alone episodes just plain suck

at the end of this episode i just didn't really give a shit about them being buried alive--you can't completely two characters in just one episode--plus, its really shitty that they went through all that stuff and it wasn't mentioned before. the flashbacks to life before the island and the actions of the others are one thing, but this show is presented from the point of view of the castaways. they keep screwing with the audience when they pull shit like this

and i still cant believe no one else realized that they totally blurred out her falling out of her dress during the scene at the airport--that's why you guys suck at watching the show, you pay no attention to the details

i actually disagree with that

i dont mind a somewhat stand alone episode

i just dont wanta stand alone episode centered on characters who are considered completely disposable by even the writers

we need a standalone episode for science guy

and for dead guy from season one whatshisname

maybe a standalone episode for the polar bear?

edit: for the x-files analogy, this would be equivalent ot the x-files introducing some 3rd agent in the 3rd or 4th season and having him stick his nose around randomly for a few episodes then have an ep devoted entirely to him where mulder, scully, deep throat and all the others are mere secondary characters and then the 3rd agent dies at the end

worthless episode and lazy writing

^agree. they introduce two new characters to kill them off a few episodes later. and what bearing did they have on the whole story? absolutely none. and it wasn't even an interesting filler. it was watching a hot chick prance around in tank tops, let's not kid ourselves. but then again, this show hasn't really been interesting since the first season

okay... you people seem a little confused about the spiders:

The Medusa spider's bite causes paralysis and slows the heartbeat to a crawl that even a doctor wouldn't notice. They weren't "killed off" because of two things. One: the spider doesnt kill! Two: Locke said "things don't stay buried on this island."

The spiders that bit 'stripper bitch' were the males that 'Middle school Science teacher' said would come flocking at even the scent of the female.

Funny, this episode reminded me of the first season. New characters, their troubled backstories, interactions with others related to the island, living on the beach thinking about rescue and the monster, mysterious events, etc.

I like eurochic so much better, she is a fine ass piece of woman. They made her clothing and everything compliment Paolo so they looked euro / brazilian / etc. She was an actress NOT a stripper! (how many strippers will still tell u that though)

Quote :

Yeah you can definitely hear the "chica-chica-chica" that heralds old smokey before the spiders rally around eurochic. But are the spiders the smoke monster or are they controlled by it? Old smokey doesent seem to like the hot, bitchy gals on this island and I dont know how I feel about that. They couldve just killed off Paolo and given us a few more eps with eurochic and I woudlnt have minded at all....

Could this be regional censorship?

The island either punishes you, or rewards you. Locke is being rewarded for his good deeds, whereas most everyone else is being punished.
