If he gets the same damn punishment as Chris Henry did (8 games for multiple traffic and 2 Marijuana charges), I am gonna be pissed.
No way he plays this season.

max for federal conspiracy is 5 years
they're saying he'll likely get between 18 and 36 months depending
looks like he'll be playing for the mean machine over the next few seasons

The sentence will probably be about a year. Prosecutors were going for 18-36, but defense lawyers were trying to get it down to 6 months. They met somewhere in the middle.8/20/2007 3:12:09 PM |

Someone might know but for sure but doesn't pleading guilty make you uneligible for parole? You have to serve out your full sentence I think.
And prosecutors can recommend a sentence but the judge will decide how much time Vick will serve. 8/20/2007 3:50:55 PM |

Mark it down, he will never play in the NFL again. He's a second tier QB right now, in 2-3 years (jail time and suspension) he'll be over 30, his skills will be significantly diminished, he'll have lost a good bit of his athleticism, and his familiarity with the game. Even if a team did sign him to a FA contract going into training camp he won't make the roster. 8/20/2007 3:57:04 PM |

This is sort of a whole nine yards situation. Now we just need to get a prisoners vs guards game together and get somebody to put it on tv. Don't they actually have football teams in some prisons? I seem to recall one of those human interest stories on Sportscenter a few years ago on a prison football team in Texas I think. Of course, I know this has zero chance of happening, but it would be awesome. 8/20/2007 4:12:47 PM |

Al Davis or Jerry Jones
The only owners crazy enough to gamble on him.
Quote : | " ”I’m a supporter of Vick,” McNabb said Tuesday at Lehigh University. “That’s because I’m a good friend of his and also we’re guys that obviously compete to win the Super Bowl. We push each other. Now, I don’t know exactly what happened in that situation, and I think for all of us that have read over the stuff that was over the Internet, the report, you look at it as kind of like, ‘Wow, you’ve got your so-called friends and family members turning their back on you now to make their situation better.’ They’re throwing you under the bus so that they can clean their name. That’s unfortunate. That goes to show, I always have a saying that I’ve always lived by: If you can’t trust family, who can you trust? It’s an unfortunate situation, and I just hope everything works out well for him where he can get back out on the field.” "As a football fraternity member, you just want those guys to have that opportunity to get back out there and maybe put that stuff behind them and change their life," McNabb said. "I think for some of the guys that have made the mistake and now that their season is taken away from them, the question goes out of what happens next. Because when some people get things like that taken away from them, they just continue to go down. You hope nothing but the best, that they've learned from their mistakes to move on where they can get back out on the field and play. Being suspended for a year? That's tough. That's tough. . . . You just want everything to kind of work out well for everybody, work out well for us as well as work out well for those guys." " |
Donovan McNabb
I don't have a problem with that quote, especially since it was made before the most gruesome details of the case came to light.

Who needs him? Seriously. Given what he's facing and what he did before now who would want him? Why would you wast your money on a 30 year old QB who just spent 1-2 years in jail, and a 1 year NFL suspension? He's not a good enough QB to offset the enormous amount of baggage he would bring with him.
It would take a nutty owner like Al Davis to do it, but considering how much money they're going to sink into JaMarcus Russell it's hard for me to imagine them bringing in another QB anytime soon, let alone a shitty one. 8/20/2007 6:10:45 PM |

There was 9-10 good QBs tops in a league that is very QB-centric, one of which was Vick. That's it. That's why someone will take him on a flier, it won't be Al Davis or Jerry Jones. It'll be some mediocre team that goes 6-10 every year, fans expect to lose, and the owner is hardly known by anyone.
