Players that should make Heather's top eight:
RB Jonathon Dwyer, GT RB CJ Spiller, CU QB Russell Wilson, NCSU S: Morgan Burnett, GT LB Alex Wujack (sp?), UMD RB Darrin Evans, VT DT: Marvin Austin, UNC (mostly off hype)
...can't think of anyone else ... maybe Cooper from Miami? 6/23/2009 10:26:51 AM |

Truthfully I think the top 3 should be
1) Dwyer (he is the reigning ACC POY so he deserves to be here based on that. hopefully RW can knock him out though) 2) Wilson 3) Spiller 6/23/2009 10:52:48 AM |

^^ wow, ND at #7 ???
I have noticed a LOT of people placing them really high for this year, seen them on a lot of "biggest surprises", "most improved" lists etc.
I just dont see it unless they have a really light schedule (havent had a chance to look it over) and the o-line has improved a TON 6/23/2009 11:43:46 AM |

Quote : | "South Carolina: Steve Spurrier has a date with irrelevancy, and it’s been coming for two years. In 2009, it finally arrives, as the Gamecocks face a brutal schedule. Three out of their four best opponents – Florida, Mississippi, Clemson – are at home, while pick em games vs. Tennessee, NC State and Arkansas are all on the road. Throw in a game at Alabama, and it’s a slate that USC’s uncertain offense just can’t handle. Five wins – maybe. Home games vs. Kentucky and Vanderbilt won’t be gimmes.
As for Spurrier – one has to wonder whether he’s got the patience or the stomach for the turf war the SEC East is about to become. Lane Kiffin resembles a more reckless, younger version of Spurrier. Urban Meyer could win awards for his insolence. The SEC’s revenue-sharing plan has given Vandy and Kentucky a real shot at competing. Georgia is still Georgia. Recruiting down there is a nightmare, and Clemson’s on the way back up now that Tommy Bowden’s out of picture. We suspect a retirement, soon. " |

haha yeah right, Tammy wasn't a great coach by any stretch of the imagination but he was an excellent recruiter and Dabo Swinney has done NOTHING to prove he will be a successful head coach. Maybe after they get rid of Swinney they'll be on the way up.6/23/2009 1:16:23 PM |

Optimism seems to be rampant for Swinney in his 1st year. Not saying he'll flop, but with a 1st year head coach (with no previous HC experience) and a 1st-yr starter at QB? Not exactly a recipe for success. 6/23/2009 1:37:56 PM |

I hope Clemson falls off the map with Swinney as their HC. I don't have anything against him personally, but they are a divisional rival and recruit the same region as us. I'm tired of them stealing some of our state's best players (except in cases where the prospect chose them over the Holes). Them going down only helps us out. 6/23/2009 11:32:37 PM |

Man, you people. You never know. It's a season of inches after all, so they could do well if they play their fannies off. If they end up doing well Swinney will be saying he's the man and will issue a challenge for you to find any critics.

you realize Dabo was our recruiting coordinator and is responsible for Clemson's recently perennial top 20 recruiting classes?
also, i dont see how you could even hate the guy at this point. he's been the coach for 7 games and turned a miserable failure of a season into a Gator bowl appearance by doing something that Tommy didn't...giving CJ Spiller & James Davis the ball.
yea, there's optimism in Clemson this year, but its not expectation like it has been in the past. Hopefully that will take some pressure off and let the coaches coach and the players play.
But ultimately, what I want from Clemson this year is to beat South Carolina, get walloped by the wolfpack, and then win a decent bowl game (Chick-Fil-A or Gator).
ps:^^oh my god.

Me too. I just made up my own useless statistic based on the players on the list. Shows or prooves nothing other than I am bored. Basically I took the average ranking of the players on each team on the list (ex: (19+9)/2=14) Then subtracted that average from 30. Then multiplied that number by the total number of players to get my final made up 'strength'. Here are the results:
GT - 43 FSU - 42 UNC - 34 D - 32 NCSU - 32 C - 29 VT - 28 UM - 19 BC - 7 WF - 7 UVA - 7 UMD - 1
If Wilson is #1 it is going to send our completely useless stat through the roof. 6/24/2009 9:37:09 AM |

Good call ... didn't see that originally. I'm hoping to see a few things this season aside from the new playing surface:
-Fully-painted endzones -- none of this grass-with-white-letters mess. -Shubbery back along the sidelines. Don't know why this was removed a few seasons ago. Thought it looked good. -live wolves 6/24/2009 4:19:20 PM |
