Seems like Notch is getting through most of the bugs that broke the game with the beta release. Hopefully by the time the mod updates later this week it will be fairly stable. I think I've gotten the server running pretty well now, so we'll see how it goes.

I've been waiting to add NPC shops until someone gets out a working version with currency. I'm trying to learn something about Java so I can do some tweaking, but I'll probably just add bartering NPCs this weekend. Just for rare/impossible to get items at first. I'm also going to restrict the map to it's current size, and try to remove the extreme offshoots. With the new NPCs it should eliminate the need to go on epic journeys for materials, and it will force people to develop the massive amount of land already there.

I'm running a beta server @ dekciw.net with a random map. Just in case anyone wants to play around with it.

me and fyeah were building a fort/mine and some dude snuck up on us an murdered the both of us. It did allow me to learn about hitting shift to sneak around though. So I got my diamond sword and hunted him for about 3 hours - never found his base. Then I came across a monster spawner and died like an idiot. Ton of iron, diamond sword, armor, etc lost.

one guy was trying to grief me when i built a mini castle directly next to the spawn... didn't realize that neodata, mildew and I had a huge network of underground tunnels and plenty of resources and quit after 10 or 20 deaths

haha yeah. I actually got in the map earlier today and the two randoms' were being all secretive about where their base was. One of them was getting the other one to wait until the middle of the night, "when the moon is at it's highest" and he would show them the path to the island base. I followed them but had to leave. Somewhere to the right of the lava mountains they were chopping trees. Probably for boats or something.

Found their base. Was lost as fuck for the longest time. They've got a trail of boxes running over ice that leads to their base. The ice is right near my Lakehouse Shelter. I'll make some more markings in a bit

Good news. The server mod has finally been updated. I should have the server running again soon! It'll be up tonight if I feel like messing with it. Also got meh a Java book for xmas; so if I have the patience to learn anything it might be good!
