no way, shit's too funny.

and fwiw, i'd also support a PP thread, b/c we've got some fans that are just as stupid as their's. They've just got a lot more of them (and there's the whole "scandal" thing going on too.)

In response to the Austin/African Studies article:

Quote :
"When does NCSU get all their athletes academic records investigated? Are we to be believe their situation is squeaky clean? Why isn't the N&O investigating their records?"

Seriously? We'll have our shit investigated if/when the NCAA finds a need to investigate us. The N&O and other media outlets have no reason to do any investigative journalism at State because there is not an NCAA investigation at State right now.

There is a great thread over there about each poster's football career. It is the most pathetic thing I've read in a long time.

Quote :
"Sucked. North Irdell High. I weighed 120 pounds the whole time I was in High School. About 5'5" no matter what I did I never gained a pound, so I never got off the bench. So I was mostly the H2O boy cheerleader or whatever. I wasn't happy, most of the guys on the team was only on it to get girls. Could careless if we won or lost while I'm dying to play. Explains why we sucked and still do. My size I never got a chance so I guess you can say I'm kinda like Rudy."

Saw this post in the comments section of HD's bowl predictions:

Quote :
"UNC's got the BEST Offensive AND Defensive LINES in the ACC! That combo usually leads to a major advantage in time of possession & POINTS! Injuries & TO's would realistically be the only major obstacles to UNC winning BIG this year. Throw in the fact that UNC should be "mentally tough" with all that's gone on, & I think UNC is a REAL contender for the ACC Title."

Definitely, and there's a difference in attempting to draw charges and flopping.

Drawing a charge is a good basketball play and involves purposefully falling backwards safely, and flopping doesn't include the actual contact. Tyler probably never flopped a single time, in the sense of faking the contact and pretending it was a charge. But he sometimes anticipated the contact and began falling before he got hit or without getting hit much.

A thread with the paypal and other information for donating to a Fire Thorp billboard.

Apparently the billboard company backed out after they realized what was going on the billboard (big surprise there...). And look, a rational UNC fan:

Quote :
"I think this is the stupidest thing I have ever seen! You do realize you're going to have to move on don't you? What candidate for Chancellor, Athletic Director or Coach in their right mind would ever come to UNC if football fans got the Chancellor fired? Regardless of how badly it was handled (and it was), there was due cause to fire Davis. I like Davis, and I think he is a victim somewhat, but hey isn't that part of life sometimes. Should have fired him a year ago, but it didn't happen, and they let it drag on to remove doubt and let a new BOT put the stamp of approaval on it. This is something I'd expect State or Klempson fans to suggest."

So I'll say they really have 40,000 there and end up with like 400,000.

people seem to forget that Daniel Evans threw 2 pick 6's in that game and he still won vs TJ Yates and NYGiants stud Hakeem Nicks. There was a lot of pro talent on that UNC team.

^^, ^^^, thats pretty hilarious. Dean Smith would have NEVER stood by anyone that brought any shame whatsoever to the academic reputation of UNC. The Mcadoo copy and paste incident would have chapped Dean into another galaxy. Now Marvin taking trips to South Beach, yea Dean wouldn't have cared about that. Same with the parking tickets, and selling jerseys. King Rice went Mike Tyson on his girlfriend in Carrboro and Dean picked him up personally and made sure to let the authorities know this would never see the light of day. No Problem. But to expose the university that admits students who cheat at every iopportunity with the aid of tutors, professors, department heads and the honor court, no, Dean wouldn't have stood for that for one second. And let's not forget the fact that it was the football team. That increases the odds that Dean would have been more strict should he have been AD, which he virtually was at UNC his last 20 years.

this is not from IC, but im sure these are the kind of IC posters that go by various aliases over there. From fayobs Wiederer's column:

Quote :
"Before the game, Alvin and Barbara Baker of Wadesboro arrived at Kenan with matching T-shirts: "I support Carolina, not the decision."

The Bakers have been season-ticket holders for 20 years. Yet upon their arrival Saturday, their excitement for Carolina football felt subdued.

"With Butch, I think everybody could see we were a team on the rise," Barbara said. "Now, we're slipping back toward mediocrity."

Added Alvin: "For two decades, we've seen Carolina football go up and down, up and down. We've been to so many games where at the end of the day they're giving away piles of free hot dogs because there weren't enough people here to buy them. Butch changed that."

haha, pure. solid. gold.

I`ve got a strange vibe from the fact that Butch was in the house sat. and foldem wasn`t. The team`s going to give BD the game ball and add that to all the praise that Coach Withers and the players were heaping on him. It`s like the page hasn`t been turned. Does anybody else see this, or get this vibe? I know it`s wishful thinking, any opinions?"

IC defending McAdoo still:

Quote :
"I'm defending him because I don't believe he cheated. Your claiming he cheated is why the case should go forward. You can't cheat if you don't know what you are doing."

So he's arguing that McAdoo found an essay that was on the subject he was assigned to write about. He thought the writer did a good job and decided to just copy and paste large portions of someone else's work with out making any kind of notation. And somehow didn't realize you couldn't do that?

You're taught about plagiarism and citations all throughout high school (probably middle school as well...I just don't remember that far back)...but somehow McAdoo didn't realize that there was something wrong with what he did.

haha, yeah, it was cheating under any scenario. plagiarism on school papers happens on a consistent basis around the country, especially in the internet-era, but it's funny to see somebody defend such a blatant case of cheating.

the mcadoo case is an interesting one. who would have thought this scandal would have had so many prongs would have sprouted when stories starting breaking a little over a year ago?

i don't keep up enough to know it all, but there's a few hundred parking tix on multiple cars with multiple license plates, the resignation of an agent teaching swahili classes for athletes, a cop resigning for covering-up a car wreck, the head coach being fired, students breaking and entering to steal documents, i could go on.... it'd be neat if somebody developed a comprehensive timeline of all the events.

i still think the punishment will be light, but it's been a very entertaining sports story.

well well, after them making fun of us last year for "their best recruit is a long snapper", we have this:

Quote :
"The key word was also as in in addition to DE. BTW, we definitely need at least 2 or 3 DEs, 4 would be great as would 2 DTs, but I doubt we have the schollies for that many and FB, RB, WR and OL. I wouldn't mind seeing us devote a schollie to a Long Snapper also."

Not from IC, but wikipedia lists the attendance for the Rutgers game as 53k. From tv it looked to be more like 40k...or less. IIRC, they usually just count tickets sold, not actual attendance...pathetic.
