I've never been given crap for wearing my Eli Manning jersey in Boston before, but yesterday everyone had something to say to me. I think the Giants are the playoff team New Englanders are fearing the most.

I'm not saying they should, but the sports radio guys here keep saying watch out for the Giants. They keep saying they match up better against the Packers and Saints than they do against the Giants and don't want to see them in the Superbowl again.

The Giants are dangerous because they can get after the passer and their offense isn't bad.

GB, NO, NE all have elite offenses, but their defense are in the bottom quartile of the league.

Lets worry about a team that had to win their final game just to get in the playoffs instead of the two teams with inarguably two of the top five offense of all time, especially when our pass defense is probably the worst in the entire NFL.

Not when they still have to beat the best two teams in the NFL just for a chance to play the 3rd best.

Week 9: Giants 24, Pats 20
Week 10: 49ers 27, Giants 20 <---Giants were one play away from tying it up on the last drive
Week 13: Packers 38, Giants 35 <---Giants had a TD ruled out of bounds that would have given them the game:

The Giants are playing much better football than they were then, especially on defense. I don't think we'll beat the Packers this time but it wouldn't be much of a surprise if we did.

I could see them beating one of NO, GB, and NE, no problem. The issue is beating all three in a row, which they'll likely have to do. They'll have to have their A+ game for a month straight.

No one's arguing that the Giants aren't capable of beating anyone left in the playoffs -- just that they aren't the scariest team out there. No way.

It's a good thing they are better now than they were then, because back then they lost to Seattle, the Redskins twice, and New Orleans by 25 points.

Also don't be a pussy and blame a loss on one bad call

That's some MacGyver wins-and-losses-are-solely-on-QBs shit

Tell that to the 2007 Cowboys (13-3), Packers (13-3), and Patriots (16-0)

the Giants are probably the best all around team in the playoffs

teams like Green Bay and New England have shitty defenses, and teams like San Fran have shitty offenses

Giants have the best front 4 in the league and some good offensive weapons in Bradshaw, Jacobs, Nicks, Cruz, etc

I don't think they can score enough points to beat New Orleans or Green Bay, but they surprised me when they won it all a few years back

I'm also going ahead and predicting right here that San Fran beats New Orleans next weekend

How can an 8-8 team be the best all around? Their defense is better than the three headed NE/NO/GB monster, yes. But those teams put up 30 on a bad day. Those teams put up 30+ on the Giants 8 or 9 times out of 10. Just because they're the most well rounded does not make them the best all around. Remember the old adage, "Defense wins Championships?" Not anymore.

When you offense is that good, your defense doesn't really matter.

4 years ago defense obviously won when the Giants beat the pats
3 years ago Big Ben hit Santonio in the corner but that team was "Pittsburgh defense" epitomized
2 years ago the Saints beat the Colts, 2 high powered offenses obviously, but a Saints INT sealed the game
Last year the Steelers' defense got them to the Super Bowl, but the Packers obviously won...DT BJ Raji had a touchdown among others

you can certainly argue that the trend is fading and offense is what wins, but tell that to the Falcons

I put a lot of stock into how teams are playing in January more than what they did in October

I think it is likely that the home teams will go 4-0. In my mind the best upset chances are the Saints followed closely by the Giants.

I think any of the current NFC teams would beat any of the current AFC teams. The only exception would maybe be SanFran vs Baltimore.

You would think that, with all the Harbaugh hype before the season, the 49ers would be talked about more.
