The colors suck on my computer, but I love my new nail polish! Ink Splatter - Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat and Sunny Day - Sinful Colors Nail Art (aka Black Crackle over Hot Pink)
awesome! This was my first attempt, and I'm not painting my whole hand because I need to paint them all sheer and pretty for the wedding this weekend. Hopefully my next attempt will be better. Gonna do my toes orange with white crackle over it. The wedding colors are blue and orange, and the dress is blue. The bride has told me to go wild with my toes.

^ nice!
For a date... Black dress or orangish dress? Actually, I guess it's more of a rusty color... Both are the same shape (kinda low cut, drapey looking, twisted knot thing in the middle) 7/28/2011 3:05:15 PM |

Orangish. Black is so safe, and therefore it's what everyone wears to everything, and it's kinda boring. (imo) 7/28/2011 3:06:41 PM |

Hmm good point. Though, I haven't worn it since that bach party
I'm wondering if I should save that orangey dress for the wedding this weekend as well.... Or should I save my light blue cotton dress? 7/28/2011 3:14:34 PM |

i hated the trend at first but now i'm coming around to it. but only with some color combos. and i'm scared of it (i mean i want to get some to try though) because i feel like it never looks like this IRL well the bottom one used an image plate instead of the actual crackle polish to achieve the look. and the bottom is my fav. maybe i need a nail image plate. i dunno.

I've seen plenty of people that didn't like whatever was being talked about. It's perfectly fine to not like something, just don't attack someone's character because something they wear isn't your style. 7/29/2011 10:50:14 AM |

So I just found out (from my Mom) that I was the maid of honor in my sister's wedding. When I asked my sister about it she said that she didn't want a huge bridal party and I was the easiest option haha
So do you ladies have any suggestions for the bachelorette party? She likes wild things - but I don't want to go the route of penis hats and whatnot. I was hoping for something along the lines of hot men juggling fire 7/29/2011 1:23:38 PM |
CassTheSass cupid 35382 Posts user info edit post |
i don't know where yall are looking to do the bachelorette but there is a place in Wilmington - i believe its a Moroccan restaurant and they have belly dancers and stuff like that. it's supposed to be a LOT of fun and a really great experience. maybe you guys could look into something similar depending on where yall decide to have the bachelorette and could start off by going to a cool restaurant with entertainment.
or you could go to Myrtle Beach to see the all male review 7/29/2011 1:47:06 PM |

What's the budget for the Bach party? And time available? Just one night or do you have a full weekend to work with? 7/29/2011 2:13:51 PM |
thegoodoctor All American 1670 Posts user info edit post |
^She's getting married in May so I have a lot of time to plan it. I was imagining just one night but she might like the idea of a weekend - her fiance is spending all of his time at home studying for doctor school and he keeps bothering her whenever she's in a different place of the apt than him.
I haven't thought about budget, I guess I was hoping to keep it under $500. But if we do a weekend spa it would obviously be more.
^^ belly dancers do sound fun, and she loves exotic stuff and loves to travel. That sounds like a really great idea. Googling male review now

I saw a ton of bachelorette parties in Charleston! I'm just not sure how expensive the bars are (at least the ones you would want for a bach party) 7/30/2011 8:59:59 AM |
iheartkisses All American 3791 Posts user info edit post |
So, my favorite bach party ideas for a one-night shindig:
1) Rent a stripper pole and bring a teacher to your house for pole and lap-dance lessons, or 2) Rent a limo, get lots of champagne and go to a lot of cute, chick-centric bars ... hop around bars for an hour (if this is Raleigh, consider a brief stop at the piano bar and that rooftop bar... if it still exists) 3) Hold an 80's-themed bar-hopping night... though I still think the limo is a good idea so you don't need a DD
For a weekend shindig:
1) Rent a beach house for a long weekend in Wrightsville... fill the weekend with spa, bar-hopping and vegging out... a nice variety of fun stuff 2) Head to Atlanta, Savannah or Charleston for a fun weekend in a new city... hit the bars, spa, shopping, etc. 7/30/2011 9:48:39 AM |

I like that color, but the dark background could be misleading. I wonder how it looks when the light hits it. Like, outside on a sunny day. 7/30/2011 12:16:08 PM |

^^^ The stripper pole dance party would be awesooome. I think I'm going to look into cities nearby specifically charleston and savannah and maybe shoot for a combo relaxation/party bachelorette
^^ I think the orangy red looks great on you, especially with your fair skin. I'm always jealous of people who can pull it off 7/30/2011 6:33:21 PM |

Very cute!!! Speaking of....I just picked out my dress for the Jimmy V Gala in August
Its a Vera Wang bridesmaids/special ocassion dress in black (without the broach...though I may find one to pin to the dress)
If you go to the site and look at the back of the dress...its what really won me over

Love the green dress! Woweee!
Also, Spanx for the gym? WTF? But kind of cool.
http://thelook.today.com/_news/2011/08/01/7217634-new-spanx-for-the-gym-let-you-work-it-while-you-work-out
Quote : | "Most of us work out to look good in our clothes, but what clothes make you look good while you work out?
Spanx, the company famous for its undergarments and shapewear, has just released a new line of activewear. This isn't the first time Spanx has branched out: earlier this year, they released Mama Spanx, designed to help pregnant women boost their bellies. Now, Spanx Active (get it here) promises to help women look slim at the gym.
A "bagel-busting" Power Pant ($118) promises to flatten stomachs, while a Shaping Compression Short ($68) gives added shaping under running shorts. Even universally-flattering items like sweatshirts have gotten the Spanx makeover: the Wrap & Go ($68) has pockets and a butt-hiding apron-style flap. Sadly, none of the clothes offer much protection from dripping sweat and red faces, two other deterrents of gym beauty. (Though wearing makeup -- another recent gym fad -- does help.)
Spanx Founder Sara Blakely says of the collection: "Our goal with SPANX Active was to create the perfect black pant that would conceal any tummy pooch and make your butt look amazing. Each piece in the collection is designed to make women look and feel great in a cinch without having to work for it."
