yeah the city has actually done a pretty good job of setting up the "tar river trail". they give out free waterproof paddle maps which we use frequently & have installed kayak put-ins every so often, plus a couple of camping platforms. the one out in the reservoir is really nice; on its own little island with a pier & everything.
