actually the effort wasn't bad most of the second half. lots of intensity.

unfortunately there's more than 15 minutes in a game.

Just got back from the game.

- I sat near our bench, and really do feel bad for Sidney. He works harder than anyone on the sideline and in the huddle during timeouts. Outside of Pete Strickland, our assistants are absolutely worthless during the games.

-CJ Leslie can be a great player, but he is not being handled correctly at all. (imo) Maybe it's because he is a "head case", but he is being coddled by our staff, especially the assistants. Almost every single fan was sucking him off to get him to NC State, and he plays like he has to do it all. He needs a reality check, and I don't think anyone on our staff will give it to him. It's a shame, and 95% not his fault.

-I don't give a shit what the media or some of "you people" say, we have one of the most loyal fan bases in the country. Very nice sized and enthusiastic crowd at the game, especially considering the circumstances.

-Of course this is hearsay bullshit, but I actually do know a few "big wig" donors, (perhaps the biggest) that confirmed what most of us have thought about Sid's future. Which sucks, because he loves this university and wants to win more than anyone.

^ How is it sad he's getting canned. Our basketball team isn't a fucking charity. We pay him a huge salary to get us wins. If he doesn't get the job done, he needs to go. Likewise, if he was a cock sucker but got wins (Bobby Knight?), I wouldn't have a problem with him sticking around.

Is it ok to call for a new coach now? I guess technically the season is over

If you've read anything other than this page on this thread, you'd know I'm a staunch "he's gotta go" person. But it is sad, because he a FUCKING ICON of our athletic department.

i think one obvious downside of ^^would be that whoever it was that left Duke would end up going back there once K leaves, within the next 6 years more than likely

If we're throwing out assistants, I know Mich State's Mark Montgomery was talked about some of PP (probably on here too, just too lazy to look). Seems like a pretty solid option given his experience with guards

Quote :
"
Montgomery is instrumental in the development of the perimeter players, passing on the knowledge that helped make him an all-conference selection during his time at MSU. He also assists with scouting and coordinates recruiting, helping assemble a top-five recruiting class in 2007. Recently, Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com named him one of 10 assistant coaches ready to "make the jump and run their own program." He also made Goodman's list of the top 20 High-Major Assistants in the nation and was named to Rivals.com's list of "10 Assistant Coaches Ready To Move Up."

In his eight seasons, perimeter players Maurice Ager, Alan Anderson, Shannon Brown, Chris Hill, Kalin Lucas, Raymar Morgan, Drew Neitzel, Marcus Taylor, Kelvin Torbert and Travis Walton have earned all-conference recognition in some format. The Spartans have also appeared in eight NCAA Tournaments, including a trip to the Final Four in 2005 and 2009 and the Elite Eight in 2003 during his tenure. "

Not sure you give an assistant coach the keys to an ACC program.

Seriously, how many times has that been done in recent history?

Haith?
Shyatt?

Who else?

Also, as much as I think Lowe needs to step down at the end of the season, assholes like this need their ass beat.

Security took his sign down within about 10 seconds.

I think there's a time for a sign like that at a home game, and that time is long, LONG after a reasonable person would expect a change. For example, the MO MUST GO signs didn't start showing up at the ESA until a good 18 months after he should've been fired.

I don't think the dude should have the sign, but if it's not vulgar or harassing anyone, I don't understand why security would pull it.

And I also agree that it is very sad to see Lowe go. He is obviously not getting the job done, but it would be awesome if we could actually get a coach that was dedicated to making NCSU a power house (and sticking around), and not just using NCSU as a stepping stone to bigger and better schools. I am fairly sure, had Lowe turned NCSU into a perennial powerhouse, that he would have turned down offers to go to bigger schools to stay here. But unfortunately, we'll never know, because he is just not getting it done.

I really wish Lowe would have been hired at some shitty mid-major school, and figured out how to actually coach at the college level before he took the job here. Not that his track record in the NBA as a head coach was good, but I think he had (and still has) the potential to be a great college coach. Throwing him into the fire by handing him a sub-par team in one of the top basketball conferences in the country, and expecting a turn-around is not an easy task, and he was almost doomed to fail from the start.
