a little off the current topic:
what do you larger-chested ladies use for a strapless bra? I could really use some experience-based opinions, as I have yet to find something I like (even among long-lines) 8/19/2011 1:12:15 PM |

I've given up on strapless bras and dresses.
a) I'm too afraid my ladies will pop out b) I don't like having to adjust my clothes every 5 min 8/19/2011 2:31:06 PM |

I'm not a big fan of the bow-tie blouses, but I do like these
http://www.nyandcompany.com/nyco/browse/productDetailWithPicker.jsp?productId=prod4290011&categoryId=cat2580027&cid=200001 I think the color makes it a lot less dowdy looking and makes it pop. (not a big fan of the front seams, I'd have to try it on)
I really like this one too http://us.asos.com/ASOS-ASOS-Asymmetric-Pussy-Bow-Blouse/wleim/?iid=1754291&MID=35719&affid=2135&siteID=J84DHJLQkR4-8Tc20a3nFN7arxqVxMuoig&r=2&mporgp=L1Byb2Qv I think the bow on the side makes it so much better 8/19/2011 3:04:40 PM |

if you go back to my comments, i never hated on it. i just said you needed to be careful about how "blousey" it could be up top, especially if you're bigger chested.
here is my response (it's on page 264):
Quote : | "i think the blouse could be cute if worn the right way (aka the right outfit).
i would just be careful of that big bow in the front and how it drapes across the boobs - stuff like that never really flatters me well because i'm big chested and it just makes me look bigger up top (which then makes it look like i'm hiding something in my midsection because it balloons out).
you might want to see if you could find one more fitted and not so billowy." |

I also need new bras--including a strapless bra. I need a strapless bra that's 1) comfortable and 2) makes my small titties look big. So, it needs to be a magic bra.
Also, which store was the fitting store that came highly recommended here? The Bra Patch? 8/19/2011 9:58:51 PM |

I did well on the ring for a long time. I think like a year and a half or two years, but it's been a while and I don't exactly remember. But then my cramps came back with a vengeance (I originally got on BC to minimize cramps) and my PMS got a lot worse. It was weird. 8/19/2011 11:29:18 PM |

this is relevant to my interests. I'm getting my iud out next month and I need to figure out what I'm going on afterwards. if it weren't for the side effects involved with having pcos and the iud I'd be going back on the iud. Apparently people with PCOS have a greater chance of developing depression on the IUD and have a much harder time losing weight. My sister got hers out and lost 40 pounds. 8/20/2011 9:31:48 AM |

I'm interested in their curling wand.. anyone ever heard of NuMe before? I think the annoying kiosks at the mall sell their shit.

Wolfy, go to planned parenthood or call them up and ask about gynos in the area if you want the IUD. I hate docs that do stupid shit like that, even though I had the opposite problem (wanted my tubes tied and they tried to talk me into an IUD). 8/20/2011 7:30:40 PM |
CassTheSass cupid 35382 Posts user info edit post |
^^ I have a curling wand and I love it! Mine is Remington but I feel they're all the same. It curls so much better than a traditional curling iron and doesn't leave clamp marks. You might want to invest in a heat glove until you get the swing of it because the irons gets hotter than a normal curling iron does.
Also mine is cone shaped and was only $25 at target. If you want a curling wand, you might want to look at target first

This seems like a great deal on a ceramic waver, but I'm not sure what it will do to my hair. Will it create loose waves? Or weird crimps? 8/21/2011 1:55:44 PM |

^ I used one very much like that way back in middle school. it was a helen of troy one, iirc. damaged my hair just like a flat iron, but worked well. I have really fine hair though, and most heating tools do just what they are meant to on it. 8/21/2011 2:14:58 PM |

I was okay with Nuvaring, but some of my acne started coming back after two years. Plus I would take it out before sex because it could feel it moving around in there. So it actually ended up being more annoying for me since I was taking it in and out. I'm much happier on Yaz, despite that I have to take it every day.

On the topic of strapless bras: if you actually have large boobs like I do I find it's easiest to go to Nordstrom or Bra Patch if you want to just try stuff on and figure it out on the spot
my current strapless was one I picked up at Nordstrom (Fantasie 4530), it gave me great support (I'm a G cup)

what is this Bra Patch you speak of? I'm not a fan of the bigger dept stores (and you don't get much bigger than the nordstrom's at garden state plaza). I have looked at their online selection though - so that fantasie 4530, does it actually stay up?
Also, I'm sure I need to be re-measured, but I don't like strange people all up in my business 8/21/2011 9:26:00 PM |

Some of us girls just don't wear anything that requires a strapless bra.
I was recently measured as a 38D, but I'm more comfortable in a 42D. The band of a strapless bra is so freakin' uncomfortable in order to good lift. I just squash everything down in a sports bra and leave the cute clothes to the single ladies. 8/21/2011 9:39:57 PM |
StillFuchsia All American 18941 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah, it stays up all day if you need it to (I was wearing it while I was in a wedding, so maybe had it on for 6 hours?). I was super surprised to find one that held me up so well. It's awesome. I had been wearing a 36G, but I truly needed a 34 so that there was no slippage.
I don't make a habit of wearing the strapless bra, but it's nice to know I have it when I want to wear something that requires it.
The Bra Patch is a bra store in Raleigh, which carries some larger and harder-to-fit sizes: http://www.thebrapatch.com/
Measure yourself: it's pretty easy.
If you really hate the idea of going to a brick and mortar store, you can always order a variety of things from sites like figleaves or herroom and then return them if they don't work out.
