De Thaey had 20 points, 7 rebounds (3/5 from three) against the Czech Republic, who i think i remember reading is expected to win the U20 Division B European championship.

I love how De Thaey can hit the 3 with so much consistency against high level competition, maybe he can give Howell some pointers

^I'd love Evtimov 2.0. Not getting my hopes up though. But if he can consistently hit the 3 and fit in with the offense then I'll be happy.

Evtimov =

dude had more surgeries than any player I've ever seen.

but he was still one of my favorites.

Evtimov played smart basketball. He wasn't fast and he couldn't jump (mostly because of the surgeries), but he made the team better which is something we desperately need now.

That said, looking at how de Thaey is shooting at the U20s, I wouldn't count on him hitting the three. He needs to be able to be physical in the paint which might take some work. I'm cautiously optimistic about this guy since I have chosen to be cautiously optimistic about the new staff and their eyes for talent.

How big is De Thay? Would he be our center or PF? if he could come in and stretch the floor by being a 3-point threat it would do nothing but help open up the lane for Leslie, Howell, Painter, Vandy

I'm trying to temper my expectations but I love all the news coming in about our guys this summer.

^^^ Evtimov was a solid contributing player, a fantastic passer for a big man, and a decent rebounder for someone with a 3 inch vertical. Plus he had a great BBall IQ.

I don't think anyone is expecting this guy to win ACC POY, or even ROY, but the team definitely could use a player like Evtimov.

Evtimov was awful. Guy gave up 20 points a game easy.

He led the ACC in catching the ball out of the basket after his man scored on him or the guy he couldn't box out scored on a putback.

He had a scoop shot that i think he literally went 0-74 during his career on.

Other than that he was fantastic.

I'd love to have a big man that had the hands that evtimov had.

C'mon, the guy brought the bounce pass out of a 30 year hibernation and used it effectively to assist several backdoor layups.

His strength and smart play made up for his lack of athleticism. Plus, he was a hard worker who didn't slack in games.

I mean he was far from an All-American, but he was a solid contributor on an under-coached and under-achieving squad.

It was nice to have more than 1 player who could hit a 3 pointer, but people who think evtimov was a positive forget his defense.

Good offensive player, horrible defensive player. Marcus Melvin was a better player.

Based on rebounding numbers alone, melvin was a better front court player. Rebounding is the most important stat.

Harrow going to Kentucky stopped Kentucky from recruiting Purvis and some other to guard name LJ Rose. Maybe Harrow still helping us out, and looks like Harrow has a better shot at UK starting stop in 2012

but if I were purvis, doesnt that kinda make us out to be Harrow's "Sloppy Seconds"? unless of course he sees it as a brand new opportunity and particularly likes the Gottfried system
