If you have a dual-core processor, you should be able to run two processes
If you have a multithreading processor, its more efficient to run just one. The FAH app is not multithreaded, and if you have a single multithreaded processor, two instances will be "fighting" for CPU usage.
I've got a dual processor 3.4GHz Intel Xeon server at work, each processor supports multithreading, so windows sees 4 effective CPUs, however I only run two copies.
Just install two copies to two different directories, to the custom or advanced setup, and give each copy a different machine ID, and you're set.
Also if you are behind a proxy server (my machine is at work) I found it necessary to set the proxy settings manually instead of having FAH detect the system proxy settings.12/1/2005 10:43:39 PM |

The misfolding of proteins is often involved in well known diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, and Parkinson’s disease. This project requires massive amounts of computing power, so in order to complete their tasks, they use free CPU time one your computer much like the Seti@Home project. Here at North Carolina State University, we have formed this team in order to help this endeavor." |
^^^I always tell people with laptops to be carefull they don't get too hot. If it does, you can stop folding or throttle back the CPU usage in the setup.3/25/2007 6:46:07 AM |

Since the PS3 is an incredible folding machine, is this set up also running F@H? Would be an impressive addition to the NCSU stats. 3/25/2007 2:41:50 PM |
