I wasn't the biggest fan of the singing voice on that watchtower cover, but you gotta admit - the music was really good. It had a real edgy full music feel to it + all the sitar rock stuff. I actually quite liked it, and I usually don't like aimless covers. 3/27/2007 7:16:04 AM |

jaZon raised a great point. why wasnt the final 4 / 5 on the BSG get sick when they found the beacon mid season?
crazy stuff in Sunday's episode. I just got a chance to watch it last night
i really dug the final scene w/ the Starbuck pulling up beside Lee and that entire scene flip'n over to show Earth
good stuff...so sad that we have to wait 8 months 3/27/2007 10:45:18 AM |

I think the idea of picking a recognizable rock song would have been good if:
1) They also picked a known cover of the song (Hendrix pls)
2) It was meant as being part of the universe. i.e. Hendrix actually exist(s)(ed) in the BSG universe and the song some how made it to them from Earth.
or
3) It was used only as background music, and the characters didn't know the lyrics, the major meledies, etc...
If Moore is going to pawn it off as hurr it was some song on new caprica hurr then they should have just written their own song and had them all say the same lyrics from it.

I don't think he was trying to pawn it off as a song from new Caprica at all. Nobody else on the ship seemed to know it besides the cylons, even when the chief was aimlessly humming it on deck.
My guess is that it does have something to do with the new cylons being from Earth or hearing the song from Earth that far away. 3/27/2007 1:00:55 PM |

in the article he made reference to the new four arriving to a point in space so maybe when they reached that specific area something just clicked on
and then the final four/5 also made ref. to the song being from their childhood
very interesting way to end the season and i loved it 3/27/2007 1:03:08 PM |

^ did they refer it to something from childhood? I don't recall that part. Was it on the hanger deck with Anders and Tyrol?
I'll tell you what tho, 9 months is a long time to ponder these questions. Too long 3/27/2007 2:15:17 PM |

man, i hope they do more explaining than that when it comes down to it. I don't want to hear them breeze over this with a "oh, they're fundamentally different" excuse to make up for their huge ass plot hole.

but that they both used the same comparison "like something from childhood" implies the shared experience of it being from childhood. 3/27/2007 5:26:50 PM |

yeah, but they're cylons, so they could've been programmed to think of it in the same way
it doesn't have to be a childhood thing

As it is, a fourth season of 22 hours is hugely generous. I hope Moore and company see that as the gift that it is and give the show and its fans the proper ending due them." |

Is it really getting low ratings?3/27/2007 7:25:59 PM |

Yes, it's true. Most people who aren't fags thought those filler episodes were awful. Having so many of them back to back killed the audience and the momentum from the awesome opening episodes. 3/27/2007 7:50:56 PM |
Kainen All American 3507 Posts user info edit post |
Kinda low, at least for the budget expended. I mean you've got to understand that frickin 1/8th of the audience gets BSG episodes through torrents and they'll DEFINITELY have to look up DVR ratings. I've seen like maybe one live BSG in 3 seasons. Sorry, DVR does that.
The being said DVD sales have to make up for this...plus the prestige the show gives Scifi (an otherwise devoid channel since Stargate crapped out) is pretty valuable. It's their crown jewel.
As far as standard live ratings, I bet you it's not really that impressive...or at least compared to the production money they've really pumped into this series. 3/27/2007 7:51:29 PM |

^As this post implies, it's not just about ratings, it's about return on investment.
Being critically acclaimed also kills ROI quickly because the cast will want big raises when contract renewal times come up, even though ratings might be the same or lower.

Well, lets take a vote.
What do you peoples want, 1 more season, or 2?
Honestly, I would want 1 more, then a movie down the line. I think they could manage a movie and I am curious how caprica would be, considering the entire story is completely different in almost every way.

I think one more season would be reasonable. It allows plenty of time to answer the questions, find earth and have some plot movement. The dont need to carry this thing on for too long. 3/27/2007 8:41:21 PM |

they shouldn't continue after the next season
you either find Earth in four seasons, or you don't ever find it

maybe they could find Earth the last episode, and then start a spinoff series with some of the same cast called Galactica 2010. Maybe have a cameo by starbuck at the end of the first season. 3/28/2007 7:01:43 AM |
roguewolf All American 9069 Posts user info edit post |
What are their ratings now? I mean for all the talk of how shitty they are, I've yet to see concrete proof to this arguement. Just asking.
And even if ratings are stellar, I think you could wrap up the series in Season 4. Most likely looking at a split season again tho, like in the past, which wouldnt be so bad. As much as I don't want to see the show end, it can go out with a bang and actually be a great series from day one to end credits in 4 seasons.
