Yeah, proof... we are as likely to prove anything about lost as we are to see kate naked.

Although, next weeks show with Kate and Juliette mud wrestling is going to be hot.

All i have to go on is the statement lindoff (or one of the other producers) made about how we have seen the monster a lot, we just havent realized it.

Then, Im going by the sound the monster makes, and how the same sound occured right before the spiders showed up.

the black smoke monster could take the form of what the person seeing it, wants it to be...

remember when ecko was staring at it, we saw all kinds of visions

Yeah, my theory (which is shared by a lot of people on the numbers forums) is that the black smoke monster has taken a lot of forms, eko's brother, kates horse, etc...

It also showed up as locke's dad.

Like i said, I think the monster punishes people or rewards them. It thinks it is rewarding locke by bringing him his father and letting him get revenge.

Come to think of it, before they actually showed any of the visions

whenever the camera focused on a character's face while they were looking at the "monster" their look seemed to be one of shock and recognition.

Oh I totally agree, I was just saying they need to take notes from the X-files since they pulled it off with the standalone episodes. Lost has created the expectation that every episode will be a mind blowing answerfest, so whenever it isn't, even if it is an entertaining hour of television, everyone is pissed.

I read on the Wiki summary that the producers said that a gay character appeared in this episode. Someone earlier mentioned that Dr. Arzt plays a gay dude on some other show.

OR maybe Boone is just really fucking gay/into his sister.

I think they are trying to figure out who is good/bad based on more than what they can gather from their previous life. I think that she knew what the smoke monster was doing, and what was up with the flashes of light they showed her? I mean it looked as if she was seeing flashes of something that suprised her.

It looked like a camera flashing to me, as if it were taking pictures. I also don't like that Juliette is trying to manipulate the Kate/Jack situation, and turning them against each other. However, from next week's trailer, it would appear Kate is very happy to see Sawyer.

everything the others have done so far has been a mind game. Ben likes playing mind games. We have been led not to believe anything they say or do.

well, everytime we've seen the smoke monster, it originates from in the ground...

so that leads me to believe there is a network underground, or some sort of ground-based field that controls the "smoke monster"

the "smoke monster" is actually a cloud of electromagnetic particles that can take the form of any image projected into it by a master controller...

therefore, when those particles tried to penetrate the barrier between the posts, it was rejected

no, the smoke monster was not harmed by the barrier, just rejected...

there is a magnetic barrier/field between the posts. when there is in interruption of that field, ie. someone walking between the posts, the reaction takes place...

the smoke monster, electromagnetic particles, met the magnetic field, and was rejected b/c of similar polarity
