Repair estimate is $3700, plus whatever it costs for reapplication of some clear bra sections (should be $400-500). There was no structural damage underneath the carnage and all new OEM parts will be used.

Estimated completion date is 4/18 though, dammit.

^they were on the truck for 48k miles and 8 years. Would have passed inspection for many more years at the rate i was going but the wet traction went south due to age.

I bought a set of Kumho KL51 but made the store take them off because one of the front tires was making the truck pull to the right and i felt a vibration at 77mph. The michelins are smooth up to the speed limiter.

Car was not ready today. Went to get it, found 3 mistakes Car will be ready "tomorrow"



However my great fear has been appeased. The new panels and new paint look great. I'll need to look at the car under several different light settings, but in the daylight everything looked fantastic.

Overall I'm pretty pleased. So far I've viewed the car in sunlight, cloudy light and interior (garage) lights and the paint looks fantastic. And as you can see from the photos panel fitment is excellent

decided to race WERA in addition to CCS this year to get more track time so I updated my safety wiring to pass tech with both (WERA tech is harder than AMA for some reason...)
and installed these with an oil change


Will probably have to weld some new spring mounts on my can (anyone able to help with it? it's just a spot weld - titanium however)

I got some OEM door molding coming, some OEM kick plates for the jamb, and a accent light installation kit (lights up area underneath the dash where your feet are at and inside the cup holders). I might install cargo net and hooks in the trunk if I can find a dealer on eBay that will sell them cheap enough.

got the gremlin roadworthy again, time to tune the carb. New alternator, had radiator soldered up (nipple leak ), electric fan shroud fabricated & installed, and tidied up some of the under hood shit.

Experienced my first 'real' backfire saturday, had a ~12" flame come out of carb while i was leaning inside to work the throttle.... boy, that was hot and loud! I'm pretty sure the power valve is gone now, and of course I forgot to order a replacement unit with the rest of the shit i bought from summit last night (have a couple spares, but they are 6.5" models, have an 8.5" in it now).

By accident I picked up a 1994 Lexus LS400. I got it from a family member who is the original owner. Sucker has 254k miles and still runs like a champ. I think it may need a new wheel bearing or a new tire. I sanded and spraypainted the center caps that were faded. Otherwise I've just put gas in it. Great car.

pulled the water pump off the jeep today. bearings are shot already. advance sells junk! i need to pull the power steering pump as well as it's main seal is already leaking. i did the water pump ~6 months ago and the p/s pump ~2 months ago. good thing is the parts are under warranty.

found the receipt for the w/p this morning. it's been replaced longer than i thought. 2/14/11. it was bought from napa and was a new unit. surprised it went bad. i've always had decent luck with napa parts. good thing is napa covered it under warranty.

i apologize, advance, even though i still have to pull your p/s pump to find out if it's defective.

You guys with the shiney red cars with new paint. Get that shit a clear bra. Biggest mistake on my last red car was not having that bra. Every rock will expose a white underpaint, and it will look like shit in a couple.
