i heard a rumor we were going to try to get ben gordon and charlie villanueva from detroit???

That can't be true why would we be going after the two worst free agent acquisitions in the league last year.

Gee, $100 million split between two guys who suck and were barely starters for a team that won 20 games.

With any normal management team I'd just laugh and say no someone made that up, but with the Bobcats I have to think its a possibility.

Okay neither one of them can help your team win but they don't suck as bad as say Dennis Horner, I'll grant you that.

Armed men break into home of Bobcats' Stephen Jackson

Three armed men broke into the south Charlotte home of Bobcats’ Stephen Jackson and held his wife at gunpoint before locking her in a bathroom and stealing valuables, police say.

The home invasion robbery happened just after 7 a.m. Wednesday at the home on Leamington Lane – a gated community off Carmel Road.

The robbery report doesn’t list the victims’ names or say what the robbers got away with, but a police source told the Observer that the victim was Jackson’s wife and that he wasn’t home at the time of the crime.

Public records list Jackson and his wife, Renata, as occupants of the home. They’ve lived there since December 2009.

Officers have not said why they believe their home was targeted. No one has been charged.

The Charlotte Bobcats declined to comment.

The $1.7 million tan stucco home with three garages is owned by former Bobcats guard Jason Richardson, who was traded to the Phoenix Suns during the 2008-2009 season.

About a year later, the Bobcats acquired Jackson, a talented shooting guard who helped lead the team to its first playoff appearance last season.

Professional athletes like Jackson have long maintained that they and their loved ones are sometimes targeted by criminals. A 2007 Boston Globe investigation estimated more than 90 percent of NBA and NFL players carried guns for protection.

The 2007 slaying of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, during what police called a random burglary at his home in south Florida, heightened feelings of vulnerability.

In Charlotte in 2005, Charlotte Bobcats forward/center Melvin Ely and two other people were robbed and shot at outside a South Boulevard strip club. Ely ultimately recovered his $30,000 piece of jewelry from a pawn shop.

Last year, Carolinas Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis reported to police that his 1975 Chevrolet Caprice Classic was taken from the front of his home in the Providence Plantation community of southeast Charlotte.

Davis told police the purple Chevy, with distinctive wheels and other upgrades, is worth $136,000. It included a steering wheel that incorporated a football and a photo of Davis. Staff researcher Maria David contributed."

i guess no news is bad news since we only have 30 days from the trade to dump dampier.

can we still do calderon for dampier/diaw?

I know he had a down year but he was sick the prior two seasons and we have a glaring need at PG. And anything that jettisons Diaw is a good play...

so Jordan said after the Dampier/Carroll/Najera trade, "We're just getting started" or something or other

and i see Dampier can only be traded within a 30 day window (i think it was July 13 when the trade was completed)

they still have time, but personally, i would rather see them move his contract and add one more quality G or PF via trade as opposed to waiving him and saving $13 million and then picking up some run-of-the-mill veteran exception (or two)

i will say though that i'm sure they've been waiting to see where the rest of the free agents land and are fielding trade offers or putting out feelers to cap-strapped teams or those approaching the luxury tax threshold

this is my hope, at least...Jordan could be grinding on young girls and smoking cigars with his jaundiced eyes for all i know

So I take it our pg search is not going well. Ridnour was signed to a reasonable 4 year $16 mil deal by minny and now they've traded sessions to cleve who was another solid option at a good price.

I don't see how we get a player of feltons caliber at the price he went for and I don't see any viable bottom dollar options on the trade market...

We traded our best expiring deal and in the meantime picked up two shitty contracts to add to our collection of diaw and diops untradeable contracts.

This roster as is probably isn't good enough to make the playoffs even though there is a wide open race for the 8 seed.

Bobcats Score 2K Sports Sponsorship Deal

Financial terms of the one-year deal were not disclosed, but the agreement gives 2K Sports signage inside Time Warner Cable Arena, promotion during Bobcats home games, digital presence on Bobcats.com, and product placement inside the Bobcats' team store. In addition, 2K Sports will hold its "NBA 2K11" release during the Bobcats home opener this fall and the video game will be sampled at the arena and promoted on the team's LED boards and scoreboard."

I'm glad wallace didn't make it from a bobcats standpoint he needs the time off after all the minutes he plays and how active he is.

I keep forgetting about livingston he did have solid numbers last year so I guess we plan on giving him a shot at starting and just hoping augustin can be a serviceable backup.

if we can't trade dampier maybe he will re-sign with us for like 2 yrs 10 mill, most contenders seem to have used their mle already and a 1-2 of damp and nazr isn't all that bad I guess

Awesome endorsement for our future

Quote :
"30. Charlotte Bobcats | Future Power Rating: 176

PLAYERS MANAGEMENT MONEY MARKET DRAFT
40 (30th) 25 (29th) 40 (30th) 26 (26th) 45 (19th)

Despite the Bobcats' first playoff appearance last season, we remain more bearish on their future than on any other team's. In fact, Charlotte not only came in last in our ratings, it also achieved barely half the score of the No. 29 Timberwolves. (How's that for a slogan: "Our future is twice as bleak as Minnesota's!")

The Bobcats continue to accumulate veteran players with bad contracts and lack the financial resources to get out of the hole that awaits them. They have one decent young player (Tyrus Thomas) but still owe a future first-round pick to the Bulls for him, and they already have started stripping the roster, losing point guard Raymond Felton without a fight and swapping Tyson Chandler in a deal that hardly saved any money and dashed any hope of having significant cap space in 2011.

Unfortunately, the short-term mindset of both new majority owner Michael Jordan and coach Larry Brown is likely to make matters worse. Brown's draft input has been particularly disastrous -- instead of grabbing Ty Lawson, Brook Lopez and Nicolas Batum, the Bobcats' past three first-rounders were Alexis Ajinca, D.J. Augustin and Gerald Henderson. In that sense, perhaps it's a good thing they already traded away next year's pick.

(Previous rank: 30) "

haha yeah collins would probably make a great starting PG in the Algerian league.

We're really going to miss Felton this year. It sucks we went through so many years of growing pains and then when he finally puts it together we lose him.

Any news on the Dampier front? MJ must be too busy golfing again

Seems about right, though I wish we got a TNT game. The last game vs the Hawks is bullshit, since ESPN will use that slot to flex a game with direct playoff implications.

If by "puts it together" you mean getting manhandled in the playoffs by Jameer Nelson and looking like he didn't deserve to be on the court with him, then yes, he finally put it together.

Let's see how he does in MD's system where the PG actually has to create offense for his teammates instead of just bringing the ball up the floor and giving it up to Jack at the top of the key or turning it over...again.
