Don't forget superior controls. It's not even close. How anyone can tolerate a first person video game using a console control is just beyond me. The gross lack of precision and speed just leaves no room for debate.
The day they start making video games with cross-platform multiplayer will be interesting. No one will stand a shadow of a chance against those on PC.12/14/2011 10:09:33 PM |

I didn't forget superior controls, I already mentioned that for this single player game I (the single player that matters) would MUCH rather sit on my couch and play the game on my TV with a gamepad. For me that is the superior control. Things like being 1/2 second faster on putting a bullet in some kids head from 300 yards away aren't even in the realm of things that should be discussed when talking about Skyrim. I don't know why you'd even bother to bring that up here. 12/14/2011 10:32:30 PM |

I was trying to get to 100 archery and came across a useful tip. There's a place called Angi's Camp where you can level archery 6 times by doing a few practice sessions with Angi. All practice sessions are for no cost. So I went there just as soon as I hit level 94 in archery, figuring I'd just take the 6 levels for the last few that would have taken forever to get.
The place is south of Falkreath, it's a shack icon on the map, but you have to approach it from the east since there's a non-hoppable mountain in the way when approaching from due north.

What do you want to do?
Breton might be the best overall because of the 30% base magic resist.
Orc is best for pure warrior because of their power. Once per day they do double damage and only take half damage for 60 seconds. This basically makes you 4 times more powerful.

I'm curious to see what random dialogue would come from being an elf or orc walking around town. They seem to be the races that have a lot of racism from the nords
Speaking if dragons, I was attacked by a frost dragon as soon as I loaded a fast-trwvel destination, but the damn thing flew over a small mountain to attack a frost troll. I eventually got there, killed the dragon quickly, then destroyed the frost troll. Felt like a badass moment . Was using dual wielding, which is just doing loads of damage now. Next play through I want to try two handing and see how that compares. It would be cool to see how it compares now but it would take forever to get it up from mid 20s
It also helped me annihilate the Azura Star quest. I was getting one shot from a distance by the daedric casters, so I used a frost atronarch to get up on the first one, smoked him with one power attack, used Become Ethereal to get in melee range of the other caster, took him out, then killed the main quest guy. Supposedly he's normally summons three daedric enemies but I only saw two. Had just enough time to gather their hearts and some random loot from him before i got teleported out...but i haven't seen any mention of other loot in the star.
For that quest I had loaded up on fire resistance, but I took the same amount of damage from the first play through when I had the 70% fire resist neckpiece and the next few tries when I had that necklace, a 50% resist shield, and 12% resist ring (about 75% life loss from one fireball). Ended up just frontng on damage and beat it the second try...first try I nuked the first daedra, but then got one shot by a fire ball from the second guy. The fire resist certainly helped, but it seems that they've capped it 12/15/2011 12:05:03 AM |

When I did a Nord fire breathing dragons or anything fire related would own me so the second time I went Dark Elf for their 50% fire resist. Now the fire doesn't bother me and the frost doesn't seem to do enough damage to matter so I'm set as far as resistances go.
I all but discount lightning resist because lightning mages have been rare occurrences for me. 12/15/2011 7:19:04 AM |

The Kahjiit is a fun race to play, but make sure you don't sleep. Wait, but don't sleep.
If you sleep, when you wake up, you are afflicted with a Hairball effect that you can't get rid of until you find some special drink to fix. 12/15/2011 9:42:09 AM |

I thought that if you played as a Kahjiit you had to sleep 23 hours for every in-game day that goes by and only use the one remaining hour to quest/explore.

^lol....for some reason I had this hair-brain idea that I needed to be a human or an elf because I would be able to identify with the character easier than if it were a orc, khajit, argonian. Now, I'm wishing I had been an argonian with a khajit sidekick...but since I'm doing this play through as a sneak thief I'll probably be an Orc on my second to heavy armor dual wield. 12/15/2011 10:06:18 AM |

I had to assassinate some chick, and she was out in the open for a long time in the town. I eventually followed her home and waited until she was asleep, picked the lock, and got in without waking her up. The first few times I tried to kill her, she would wake up if I touched her, interacted with her, or even changed my weapons. It was kind of dumb, because if I killed her when she was awake, I would get a bounty, attacked by guards, etc. I ended up just killing her in her sleep to avoid the bounty.
This was wearing the Dark Brotherhood gear. 12/15/2011 6:12:27 PM |

I got all the lockpicking perks except for the master lock one (after you get unbreakable lockpicks, there's no point).
I really get so much loot from chests it's insane. I used to have a 10G/lb cutoff when I was deep in dungeons, but now it's probably closer to 50/1. When I return from from a mission I usually end up selling anywhere from 20-25k worth of stuff. The irony, of course, is that now that it's so easy to get money, there's absolutely nothing in the game to spend it all on.] 12/15/2011 9:04:29 PM |

Whelp, I've run into a minor glitch with a quest on the console that I can't get around. A long time ago I raided a giants camp and looted The Wolf Queen v6 from the chest there. Now, in the college of winterhold, there is a side quest to go get that book...and I can't turn it in despite having the book in my possesion. Since its a quest item, you can't drop it or store it anywhere, and there is not another book at the giants camp. Seems like its a bugged out quest that i'll just have to abandon for now.
On a side note, there w an update for the game when I booted up, and now pi dont get one shot by magic anymore. Fought an ice blood dragon no problem and ate a bunch of bandit fire to the face. I did get just about one shot by some vampires in a cave using lightning, but thats to be expected. 12/15/2011 10:42:49 PM |

^ yea ran into that same problem.. he asked me to get brothers of darkness, but i'd already gotten it. *sigh* i've gotten in the habit now of saving before picking up things that might be quest items and trying to drop them. if it won't let me drop them because it's a quest item, i'll usually just leave it and come back for it later if need be. hate glitches that stick shit in my inventory. 12/15/2011 11:19:15 PM |

So I've been running around fist-to-face'ing everybody. It usually took about ten hits to kill people/large animals.
When I leveled enough to get Fists of Steel, I picked it up and made sure I had the best Steel Gauntlets (my current BS level) and went out and found Red Eagle's Sword.
Three hits.
So far, I have used a bow once and that's the only other weapon.

I think the Markarth house is pretty sweet. Has just about everything you need except a forge...but then again, it is far out of the way, annoying to get to, no nearby vendors, and the forge is on the opposite side of town.
