i also forgot the new jesse "boots electric" hughes album, although that's probably gonna be retarded

tried streaming wild flag a few weeks ago when it was on NPR, but the app shat itself on my phone at work, and i can't get it to work on the website because our browser is so damn old. i will have to check out the rest. liking the new megafaun a lot 5 songs in. "get right" rules.

^ that is an epic track, but I actually like track 11 (You are the light) and track 14 (everything exystence) even better.

I really hope this album gets the respect and attention it deserves

Bought the new Anthrax today. Haven't listen to much of it yet but seems decent so far.

Looking forward to the new Mastodon and Opeth albums coming up in the next two weeks.

I think some of you have said you post on ateaseweb.com. I started a Megafaun thread there trying to get more people to listen to the new album. If you post on ateaseweb, head on over and create some buzz.

Flame away, but I'm all about supporting an awesome local act.

btw, search for earlier megafaun threads --- they actually get a lot of love on atase. especially after bon iver blew up and people discovered the connection.

^ her voice is a bit odd, but I love that song!

Also, my mistake-- the song is "everything", not "everything exystence". The leaked mp3s have the track as "everything exystence" because exystence is the site that leaked it.

Guess autocorrect on my phone changed it from "exystance" but whatever. I really like the song, I just find her word pronunciation to be really distracting. No one could possibly sing that way naturally, and I fail to see how you could force it and think it sounds good.

OH, I thought that was the name of the album, not an individual song. Anyway, Pitchfork gave like a 6; won't be listening.

New Laura Marling record is actually pretty fantastic. To me, it's everything the new Fleet Foxes record strived to be but didn't quite succeed in.

also, can't stop listening to wild flag. one of the best straight up rock albums of the year.

Megafaun score just released. 7.8. Not too shabby, but honestly, they're going down gradually. Gather Form and Fly got an 8.1 and barely missed BNM. They need to capture some more of that mantra and get a one more tenth about it and do the damned thing.

New Megafaun album definitely should've gotten BNM. I like Gather, Form and Fly a whole lot, but their new album is by far their best.

Not that it necessarily matters. Still, it would've been cool to see them take off nationally with a strong Pitchfork endorsement.

i hate that little bitch.

HE was the moron who uploaded all the stuff he was working on, including not-even-close-to-being-finished songs for two upcoming albums to a publicly open mediafire account WITH HIS NAME ON IT, and then pouted when it was raided.

here it is, almost 2 years since that debacle, and I take it he's still whining? fuck that guy.

just admit you were a dumbass and move on. his incessant "woe is me" blogging, message board posting/crying and general anger at everyone other than himself when it happened was bad enough.

^To be fair, if I recall correctly, what he was upset about was the fact that his label/distributor claimed ownership of the recordings despite the fact that they were bedroom recordings. I understand that that is within the legal rights of the label given the American legal system's understanding of artistic ownership, but I can definitely understand Cox's frustration in such a situation.

^ he went on a little bitch rant about his fans not being genuine after some kid on atease found his mediafire account that he linked on some blog.

that's what i'm referring too--- saying anyone who pilfered the recordings and distributed weren't "real fans" or something to that effect, rather than just laughing at himself being a dumbass and uploading a link that lead directly back to his own non-protected account. he could have password protected those files, whatever he wanted, and still made the original post and link to the material he wanted to disseminate, but instead he came off like a petulant child.

I like the new one, but Gather, Form, and Fly is one of my favorite albums of all time (definitely my favorite local of all time) and the new one doesn't hold a candle to it (to me). I'll still go and see them perform every chance I get, and I still bought the new one, etc, but GFF really resonated with me.
