Ribs All American 10713 Posts user info edit post |
He was gone long before those comments, but yeah that was boneheaded.
Management fucked up letting a young, emerging player actually play out his contract though. The result can't be surprising given the shady world of transfers nowadays. His agent stands to make a killing if he goes to a major club.
Unrelated, but damn it's irritating that the MLS continues to ignore the Southeast all together and now are trying to place 2 teams in markets they already have covered. I don't claim to know the workings of other areas, but I do know NC is a hotbed for youth soccer and they would kill in this state. We're good enough for professional football, basketball, and hockey but not fucking MLS? Yeah, ok. 5/21/2015 11:49:04 AM |

Weird, I guess I inferred he contract was up with so much speculation on his next destination. I admittedly don't read a lot about other teams.
100k isn't even ballparking what Real/Bayern/Rent Boy United could/will throw at him. Not saying he deserves it (definitely doesn't), but it's how those clubs put others out of business. 5/21/2015 12:53:03 PM |
aimorris All American 15213 Posts user info edit post |
Yeah but that crazy money is two years away if Liverpool don't sell him. The agent is screwing his client right now because I don't think there's a chance LFC sells him to an English team and the other big money teams probably aren't interested in potential at the asking price of 50-60m.
He should have taken 100k with a buyout clause and been done with it. 5/21/2015 1:17:45 PM |

love the hate. One big transfer season and we are all of a sudden a buying club. Don't let the fact that two under 20 defenders played about 2 16 matches this year or the fact that United is miles ahead of any other top 6 club in youth development. 5/21/2015 5:01:21 PM |
Ribs All American 10713 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, we fielded the youngest team in the prem with 6 academy graduates regularly in the XI
and just so we can get this on record... you're categorically denying that RBUFC is not a buying club and you rely heavily on your academy for players to get in the senior team? 5/21/2015 8:53:51 PM |

You ARE a buying club. It's just outrageous bullshit to claim otherwise.
Look at the big-name transfers you've conducted just over just the past two years: Falcao, Fellaini, Di Maria, Mata, Herrera (and RVP 3 years ago.) And those are just the really prominent guys, who were stars/orchestrators. There are tons of smaller fry like Blind, Luke Shaw, etc.
And now it looks like you're making a bid for Raheem Sterling.
When I say that you're delusional/unreliable where Manchester United are concerned (i.e. in 80% of your posts) this is exactly what the fuck I'm talking about.5/22/2015 9:35:51 AM |
wazza31 All American 2433 Posts user info edit post |
And you let your blind hate for united dictate all the bullshit you spew. Until sir Alex left united bought smart not just threw money at world class names. Rvp was a tremendous value deal and a rare world class signing. I will admit that transfer policy has unfortunately changed in the last few years.
How are Tottenham's kids getting on? Not helping their team qualify for CL. How many titles have Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Neville brothers, and butt won? There has been a homegrown academy squad in every united match day team for over 60 years.
Players like McNair, Wilson, pereira, Januzaj, and Blackett would never get a shot at first team action outside of pool and arsenal.
Interested in sterling? Lol please. 5/22/2015 10:04:51 AM |

Haha. Let me guess you consider harry Kane as the best striker in the pl after aguero? Or is he the best? With your delusion it wouldn't be surprising.
Rvp when we signed him was the best striker in the pl. He isn't anymore but rvp when fit was definitely a world class player with arsenal. Lol spurs fans telling united fans to understand what world class means. The irony is hilarious. 5/22/2015 10:53:47 AM |

dude, but you totally said "Manchester United ARE NOT a big buying club." you used the present tense. and in their current incarnation, that's exactly what they are. you just admitted it.
sure, when Beckham, Scholes, Giggs, the Nevilles and Nicky Butt were in their prime like 15 fucking years ago. (or even 8 years ago) THEN you could claim to be a homegrown club. but they're all retired now. these days you just buy your stars like everybody else.

You've got the nerve to call another person in this thread delusional? That's rich.
You go on fanboy rants literally every page. I can actually talk about the sport like an adult. I wish you could so actual discussions could happen here instead of page after page of fanboy pissing and moaning.5/22/2015 11:02:54 AM |
wazza31 All American 2433 Posts user info edit post |
Actual discussion like and adult? Lol ribs I think you lack the intellectual capacity to actually have a proper discussion.
Bsg you use data from 2 transfer windows to say united are a buying club. Yet within those two trasfer windows united have still bedded in more academy players than the top 6. But of course that is bullshit right? I am rationally admitting that the strategy has changed but how that makes united a buying club when clearly youth prospects are still getting a chance is beyond me. If this model continues and no academy prospects are getting a chance then yes it will signal a shift. Until academy players stop getting a chance at united, united will always be a club who values youth. Even in our transfer policy I hope we continue signing players like depay and shaw whom represent potential and not quiet the finished product.
How many times have I tried to start some serious discussion on here only to be met with jokes? A shit ton. Of course I am going to troll back if you are going to continue being twats. 5/22/2015 11:17:08 AM |
aimorris All American 15213 Posts user info edit post |
You get shit because you're clinging to "we play x amount of academy players so it means we aren't a buying club." Just drop it and admit your club buys good players. Who cares?
Just stop mentioning SIR Alex and Nicky Butt and we can move on. 5/22/2015 11:22:19 AM |
