I'm sincerely curious why you keep praising Cruz like this. What is it that makes you like him so much? I can understand you wanting him to win, but I can't understand why you seem to love the guy with all of his obvious flaws.3/3/2016 11:30:39 AM |

Are these people stupid or what? Theres a fundamnetal flaw in their strategy. They want to stop trump but they don't want to offer one alternative. They want to offer 3. Romney said something like "we can't nominate trump, we must nominate rubio, kasich, or cruz".
Giving people 3 choices is exactly why trump is so successful. They don't have the guts to pick one candidate. 3/3/2016 11:41:12 AM |

Well all politicians are flawed in one way or another.
Basically he's the best conservative option who can win. In a nutshell, he's a smart guy who can articulate conservatism better than anyone else in recent electoral history. He's big on free market principles and opposed to protectionism and has considered the arguments pro/con on these issues his whole life unlike some other candidates. He's also shown a willingness to confront the status quo which I appreciate. And he's argued successfully in front of SCOTUS many times which I also find very impressive. 3/3/2016 11:46:19 AM |

Yes. It's one thing to dislike a freshman Senator, it's a much different thing to dislike the head of your party and attempt to impede his agenda - assuming R's remain the majority after November.

Never met the guy and despite his personalized daily emails asking me for money I doubt he knows much about me either. I have no real opinions on him as a person, he's just a vehicle for the policies I think best for myself and the country. To be clear, I do not actually find him as handsome as some of my prior comments may have lead people to believe. 3/3/2016 12:31:20 PM |

You are delusional if you think Cruz is more electable than Trump. Not that i support either. Though being the buffoon he is i think most would accept the risk of Trump than choose to living a Christian Theology controlled by the oil barons as Ted Cruz envisions America being.
While I think Trump will be an embarrassment and not do anything to improve the economy. Cruz will directly affect and restrict my freedoms, ruin the environment, and continue American's journey into a distopian corportism economy.3/4/2016 12:37:03 AM |

Finally. Seems like the gloves finally came off. I knew there were still a bunch of attacks left in the bag on Trump. Sure he still has the racist and fascist votes locked up, but if he makes it to the general we got to see a taste of what's to come. The TrumpU stuff seemed pretty effective, and it should be. No one likes a grifting plutocrat with an army of defense lawyers working the system. It's the definition of what a lot of people feel Is wrong with this country (once you get outside of the republican base). 3/4/2016 6:51:29 AM |

And I feel like that is a good choice. I feel like him and Trump are more moderate than the rest of the people in both parties. We need someone who will be willing to side with the democrats on some issues and the republicans on other issues. Right now it seems like 100% of the people on capitol hill vote along party lines (see obamacare).

People have their favorite party to vote for. The majority of young people, every minority, women, and some white men like to vote liberal. They love hearing all of that talk about forgiving college loans, obamacare, child care, etc. There aren't many conservatives left.3/4/2016 1:37:16 PM |

While we are making "progress" that GOP politicians are at least admitting to climate change being a human caused phenomenon. How does he expect to solve the issue by leaving it merely up to the states and corporations? Oregon has voted to eliminate its dependency on coal, so super! The problem is one of our two coal resources is located in Montana. So while our Boardman Coal plant in oregon is getting decommissioned in 2020, the utility is merely going to sell its stake in the Montana operation which will be purchased by someone else to continue burning coal.
States with a primarily a Trump or Cruz demographic will never find it in their interest to limit CO2 emissions. This is why we have federal level environmental agencies. Missouri can decide to not dump toxic crap into the mississippi but if Wisconsin doesn't implement similar controls then Missouri suffers the economic impact but still gets polluted water from everyone upstream.3/4/2016 5:52:54 PM |

Yep I realize they both differ quite a bit but either of them would be better than Trump or Cruz and Hillary. Kasich just hadn't had much speaking time at any of the debates that I watched but I just liked his attitude and message the other night. He wasn't getting into the lets bash trump circus. I don't claim to follow politics all that much I watch the debates that I can. As long as Trump doesn't win FL and OH he is fine and if he can pick up steam people could consolidate around him as the anti Trump candidate. Not saying this will happen or I expect it to but it's the one scenario other than Trump winning that I can see. Rubio isn't going to do it and neither is Kasich (obviously) 3/5/2016 7:56:01 PM |

Trump is still dominating Florida polls, and the poor showings by Rubio isn't going to help matters. Kasich may take Ohio, but the only way Trump loses Florida is if Rubio drops out. I just don't see that happening.
Trump definitely took a beating in the caucuses today, which I would attribute more to his flip-flopping on H1Bs than on the Mitt Romney debacle. It will be interesting to see how Trump reacts to this in his speeches and debates in the coming weeks. 3/5/2016 10:29:12 PM |

Cruz scares me, I think he could win a general based on the relativity factor that "he's not Trump and I'm not voting for a LIBERAL DEMOCRAT named Clinton". This would set the US back years in social progress and be the biggest threat ever to individual liberty. As much trolling as I do in chit-chat, I would join #BLM rallies or join the local militia if it were a way to thrawrt Cruz's plans.
It seriously gives me anxiety that the DEMOCRAT candidate is some bitch that half of America can't stand that may set up some lunatic pathological liar and swindler like Cruz to end up being president. Trump really is overrated in " fuck up factor", Obama can't even take a shit without half of congresses opposing it, how is Trump really going to make an impact.

What would give me anxiety if I got anxious but I don't because I'm not a little girl is how important the presidential election has become to so many Americans. We should not view the election of a president (or a governor) as good vs. evil or the biggest threat ever to individual liberties, etc. But this is what happens when the federal government is too large and exceeds its enumerated powers. 3/6/2016 6:23:54 AM |

Regarding that blow out win in PR for Sen. Rubio. The Chicago Tribune explains the extremely low turnout vs 2012 - approx. 128K voted in 2012 vs only approx. 27K this year. The results may have been different if another 100K voters had turned out.
Quote : | "The island's economic woes affected the election itself. Edwin Mundo, electoral commissioner for Puerto Rico's Republican Party, said budget cuts forced it to reduce the number of polling places to 110 from more than 3,000 in 2012, dramatically reducing turnout." |
